I like this guys commentary, nice and subtle voice
Haha thanks Xander
Great video! Finally someone explained the emergency access code. Wyze made it seem like I needed to be in blue tooth range to send a one time code. Nice work
Thanks Brad, I'm glad it made sense for you.
I just installed one a couple of days ago and I love it already… fingerprint access is truly the way to go. It’s a nice quiet lock too… Very smooth. Excellent review, you earned a subscriber.
Great review. I think I will give this lock a try as well.
Thanks Michael. How has it been working out for you?
The fingeprint admin issue was good to know, same boat here. Infact I am trying to submit a claim on one of a V3 camera issue getting static fromt website. This was a good review, thanks
Great review and nice explanation of the rsa token process. You mentioned the 4 hour window could be vulnerable- i guess were you thinking the code could be used again within that window? The screenshot at 6:39 seems to say the code is one time use only. After an year are
you still satisfied?
Hi Mike, I have been using the Wyze bolt for about 2 weeks now and I love it. I was thinking about the “one-time code” option which generates an 8 digit code. Instead of that you could also “add” another user and name it “auntie” and all you have to do is remember that “code” and give it to the relative or whoever.
I totally agree Bill. I forgot to mention that in the video, but I was mostly thinking about the scenario where you forget to set something up for someone before you leave
Thanks for the review 😌
Thanks for watching!
I have a handful of Wyze cams. I love their interface and the quality of their product is great at the price point.
I currently have a U-tec smart lock but we’ve moved and our new house has a couple of more entry points. The U-tec is great. It does all the things you wanted the Wyze to do, but it’s $200 more. That’s just too much to think about buying two or three more.
Still thinking the Wyze lock might work at my other doors.
Thanks for the video.
Thank for the comment! It really is hard to beat for the price.
Thanks for information Mike 🥰👍
You’re welcome!
Great review
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback.
Not having wifi is a bit of a bummer but think about it . With Bluetooth connectivity is more secure and the lock can’t be hacked
I totally agree. And the fingerprint option has been so nice. Thanks for the comment!
Not sure if i missed this but is there a key option of the electricity or internet goes?
This lock bolt is designed as it should be. If you do not trust WiFi enabled locks which potentially can be hacked, from anywhere, this is the lock for you. It's very secure and not WiFi enabled. It locks automatically after about 5 minutes. We keep ours on the inside garage door as a secondary security. When the garage is open, the inside door automatically locks preventing unauthorized entry into the house even if I'm in the yard away from the garage itself. Not having the lock integrated to the Home security system is a feature, not a design flaw
Agreed. I think it would just be nice to have the option to add a bridge of some kind if you wanted to add WiFi/remote functionality. But otherwise, a great product and works exactly the way I want it to.
Any update on battery life? I have the original Wyze Lock, but want to add a "smart" lock to either the garage-to-interior door and/or the garage-to-side yard door.
I haven’t replaced the batteries yet. I installed it in May, and it gets used a couple of times a day. It’s been great so far!
how about now? how has it been?@@MichaelVance
Can you set a 4 number code for other people and delete that easily?
Great review. Thank you! I think one note you could include is the AutoLock feature. I was worried about using a one time code, and the person using it forgetting to lock the door upon leaving. I think AutoLock should resolve that issue though.
I agree, thanks for watching!
How’s the battery holding up ? Thanks
Hey Michael, I've been looking into purchasing this lock for my house but I've been trying to find out if it has a certain feature. The other lock they have for sale is able to unlock as you approach the front door without having to do anything. Do you know if this lock has the same feature? Thanks!
Hi, I don’t believe it does. I’m pretty sure the other Wyze lock does though.
I saw some complaining about the auto lock feature ..
I locked myself out couple of times so thinking if this auto lock feature could be a risk to me ..
It definitely could be. But with the fingerprint reader, you should be able to get right back in.
Does this have some sort of security alert?
Battery life is one of the reasons I am trying out this lock out. I suspect having no-wifi will substantially increase the battery life. You still on the same batteries?
Yes, I’m still on the original pair. It’s still been a great lock.
More than 1 year now, have you changed the batteries?
Hi! Nope. Still haven’t changed them and it’s going strong. The motor/fingerprint reader are used around 2 times per day for reference.
@@MichaelVance TY for the info. I'm very seriously considering this lock. What setting do you use for it to re-lock? Also have you used the Wyze Doorbell Pro with this? I'm reading you can unlock the door through the doorbell??
The lock looks good however I hope the next one has wifi compatibility.
I agree! I'd also like to see HomeKit support, but I doubt Wyze would ever give us that.
Do you have to have your Bluetooth or your phone near it to use a fingerprint to unlock it
You don’t, I’ve gone out without my phone quite a few times and the door will unlock with just my fingerprints.
And how can you unlock if the lock dies?
There is a usb-c port on the bottom of the lock that you can connect a power cord to.
@@MichaelVance but I mean dead dead, I just install a Ultraloq 3 mounts ago and literally died, to my luck there's a key to opened, but in this wyze lock which would be the procedure? That's my doubt
Mine registers locked when it’s open and open when it’s locked .
I think there is a way in the settings to tell it to switch the two
Is this only for me but I Alexa doesn’t find the lock even after WYZE is linked to Alexa
So apparently if you have a doorbell pro from wyze you can pair them and unlock and lock your door from your phone
I’ve heard that as well, it would be a neat feature to test
You both can login to the same wyze account on different devices that’s how me an my wife do it
I wanted to purchase this, but the downfall is what you mentioned, and I would have loved if there was a camera built in so I wouldn't have to have 2 devices on my door. Maybe they will come out with something in the future, but until then, I'll have to pass
Agreed. Best of luck to you!
What if the batteries die and you are locked out of your house....
USB charger
Has a light to show low battery…
Why do all of you feel the need to start your videos with..."What's Up Guys?". You're not here to ask questions, you're here to answer them.
Haha good question Bobby, I guess its just helps me feel a little less awkward about talking to a camera in the corner
Its called slang. Yes its not the formal, Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls ect ect. You are the viewer and your own choice to watch the video.
Too much talking than actually showing the usage of it
Thanks for the feedback.
