I never thought about this the way you did, but listening to you, it actually makes a lot of sense and I can resonate so much with what you said. The rabbit hole thing is so truthful, being a programmer feels like a neverending rabbit role, we are constantly learning new things and being challenging by new problems, and we are okay with that, we actually seek the next breakthrough problem or thing to learn that's gonna improve ourselves even more as programmers. At least that's how I feel 😄 Anyways, please do more videos on these topics and subjects, it is super interesting altough I imagine will be for a small niche of people. I'll definitely try to remember to come back to this video and read the comments, I'm sure there will be other interesting points. Your channel is really good, I resonate a lot with your videos and the way you think and live, keep it up I hope to see more of your content soon.
Thank you brother, I will absolutely try to speak more about it as I learn more - I have just got the Church Fathers set, so I have about 32,000 pages to dig through and read! God bless
This is a result of an "engineer's mind", rather than a "scientist's mind" - you mention how you see many programmers *and scientists* turning to Christ, but that's not actually true, in academia this is the opposite. The reason is simple: as you said, both are driven by truth, but the engineer is happy with the idea of a higher order that designed this complex machinery, that's what an engineer does or what a programmer does, ultimately, and it requires a lot of intelligence and planning so they assume this must also hold for the truths on the world. But a scientist immediately recognizes the logical leap and the fallacies built in to this assumption of truth, and under a parsimonious analysis, Christianity can not be held true - in fact, it's not even necessary to answer your questions. Programmers turn religious very often, scientists do not, specially those in biological sciences.
I find that interesting - this is a thought I've been just starting to hash out, the engineer vs. scientist mind is something I'll have to explore further! The phenomena seems to occur in physicists fairly frequently too, specifically of theoretical persuasion.
I've been a programmer for 20yrs. I joined the Orthodox church with my whole family in 2020. Stumbled on your video about your linux setup and then noticed you're a Orthodox Inquirer in your bio. Just dropping some love.
Ironically i got a little more closer to god after i invest more time with linux, i was always an orthodox christian because of my family that's how i grew up, but i was never thinking about it much , going down the rabbit hole trying to understand more and more about Linux,Networking,Programming it indeed help me to grow a better faith, but i always feel like i have a long way to go.
@@JoshuaBlais nothing special, it comes preconfigured and assembled so I just got used to existing layout, it works quite well, but I love the quality and sound is like breaking a chocolate, blurry yellow switches

I feel as if the comfort with the rabbit hole is a big part of it - we've come so far yet still have so far to go! God bless

All good, but I wish you hadn’t selected a thumbnail image which makes Jesus look like a muscly white guy, he would not have looked like that.
We are all about the memes on this channel! Haha
