What a lovely town. So full of history and the old homes are beautifully kept. So Jealous of all that history😀 thank you for taking us on a tour Carla. Jeanette, New Zealand.
Dear Carla thank you for the pictures and history of the quaint community of Strawberry Banke, N.H. - it is so nice to see how well they take care of these old homes and museums! Ever the builder, I think that was a pic of Mark staring at how the row boat was built! It is so wonderful to have a partner that loves to go with you on these trips!❤
Thank you Kate. I agree, I'm lucky that Mark enjoys exploring New England as much as I do. He's not a Shopper, but that's OK. lol Have a wonderful week!
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I visited Strawberry Banke over 40 years ago! Those old homes are so beautiful! This was a delightful video!
I live in Portsmouth, NH. I came here decades ago, it NEVER gets old. I love history, I love where the NE architecture (not the ‘modern’ stuff) has been preserved. Raised in the Midwest I dreamn’t of living in NE all my childhood. The locals will never consider me a native but NE is in my heart and soul regardless!
Oh Wow, how lucky you are to live in such a beautiful area. I agree with you, I too am originally from the Midwest and had wanted to live in New England for years. My dream came true five years ago and my Husband and I still can't believe we live here. New England is a very special place and can grab your heart very easily. Have a wonderful week Janice.
Hi Carla, thanks for taking us along on this scenic trip. Speaking of strawberries, I have to tell you how much I enjoyed the strawberry/rhubarb jam. I am now into the blueberry one and it is equally delicious. Nothing like toast and jam with my morning coffee.❤
Aren't they good?! I was so pleasantly surprised when I first sampled them to determine if I wanted them in my Store. My whole family loves them....they said it tastes like my homemade. I'm so happy to hear you're enjoying them. Happy Sunday!
Hope to visit there one day! Love the history and feelings of towns as that! I also loved the orange color on the house, would be beautiful color for a door! Thanks for sharing your story and the food looked delicious! 😋❤
We love this part of Portsmouth. We park at the lot beyond 4 Tree Island. Then we walk. We used to enjoy lunch at the Portsmouth Brewery but that is no longer there. We've lunched at Old Ferry Landing, Genos and other spots...even Gilley's! ...and dinner at The Franklin Oyster House. Sometimes we lunch before we get there at Ray's Landing or Petey's. We haven't sailed the Gundalow yet, but did sail Casco Bay in Portland, Maine aboard the Palawan a long while ago. I see the Thomas Laighton under the draw bridge! That one goes to the Isle of Shoals, I believe. I'm loving this! It's where we go!
Just lovely. My husband and I were at Strawbery Banke in June- the flowers in Prescott Park are so much more in bloom now. Beautiful. I also never tire of walking around the area. those homes are just gorgeous. So many ideas…We always cross into NH from the bridge on the other side in Kittery Maine. The view to Portsmouth harbour and Strawbery Banke is amazing. Thanks so much for sharing this.
I love Strawberry Banke - we've visited twice (from the UK) - thank you for sharing. We have happy memories of Portsmouth - such friendly and welcoming people.
Carla, today's video was very heartwarming for me. Seeing the Candlelight Stroll, and viewing the incredible craftsmanship, (your husband must have been very impressed by that). So glad you captured the Drawbridge in action also having some fun to taste the Chowder. Even to see views of the Cemetery brought back memories to me of a fine gentleman who is buried in Dover, NH. Seeing the water and boats brings back special memories. Wow, the Wentworth By the Sea looked impressive and your dinner from the Surf would have been my choice.. With sincere appreciation 💓 God bless you and family.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Anne Marie. Our Daughter had given us a Gift Certificate for Surf and I'm so glad she did, it was a wonderful meal with a great view. Enjoy your Sunday!
Carla, thank you for another enjoyable video. I visited Strawberry Banke on a day-trip years ago and truly enjoyed this beautiful town; the epitome of New England charm with the historical homes, countryside, and the ocean combined. Your video made my day. I will watch this video several times today. You help me escape the "concrete jungle" of New York City for 14:28 minutes. God bless your "kindred spirit". Robert.
Outdoor skating rink is set to open on Nov. 29th, 2024 (weather permitting), several live cams, esp, fun to watch little ones learning to ice skate. Some performances during holiday season. Boston & Maine live cams, Strawbery Banke. Good video, enjoyed!
@@mynewenglandstory Usually 3 cams of the skate rink. Bank of America Winter Village Skatecam has already started. I'm too old to skate now so viewing is fun.
Most of those houses in strawberry banke were moved there to create the neighborhood they were not already there since the 1600's. Although Portsmouth of course is an extremely old city and these homes and buildings are authentic they were put together and restored to create the community.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful trip. It’s absolutely magical.
I love visiting Strawberry Bank and the shops in Portsmouth.
Thak you Carla for taking us along I love little towns with history from canada
Thank you for the lovely Strawberry Banke video…you travel to such interesting towns.

I agree, I never tire of going to the Portsmouth area. It's not too large but so much to see. Have a great Sunday Kerri!

Wonderful! I'm glad I could allow a little bit of an escape for you. Happy Sunday Robert.
What a nice easy going trip. Thank you for taking us along.

Oh, thank you for that information. I will definitely check out the Live Cams!!

You must go back to Wentworth by the Sea around Christmas time! They make the biggest ginger bread house I’ve ever seen!
Oh, thank you Juliet, I didn't know that!
Have you ever been to the woodman institute in dover? Dover is actually the oldest community as founded in 1620.😊 nice video❤
I have not. I will look into it, thank you Peg.

Oh, they told us on the Tour that they had only brought in 2-3, that the others were already there and restored. I may have misunderstood.
I was confused on the pronunciation of Portsmouth until I googled it.
