    0:22 I notice the ladder is held by double sets of pins (dogs) on either side, with the odd single one in the middle. Fred Dibnah just used the middle type, one per ladder. A pity the camera cut as the steeple jack got to the staging and the weather vane. Maybe they didn't want to film a calamity.

      Cameras were a totally different animal then, film was outrageously expensive and difficult to produce and the Cameras weren't waterproofed from the elements so you had to think very carefully how and what you filmed.

      @@Paulstrickland01 BUT even in those past times have been men and companies with lots and lots of money, so sometimes the price for filming something didn' t play a role like today usually...

      Because they could have two and three men on a ladder at any one time, where as Fred was on his own

    They have some serious kahunas,I have worked at a mere100' in a bo'suns chair,when younger,but these blokes are on another level...

    What dome tough men! No wonder that the climate changes ( what an amount of black smoke from only one chimney!)and many man in craftsman business do not care for their health...it hertaged to their great great grandsons
