    The "blue turtle" line-up had a very unique sound.... world music fused with rock and jazz - I love Sting's solo work but I would have loved to have seen at least one more album with Sting, Marsalis, Kirland, Hakim, and Jones.

      Stafford I agree. I was never a big Police fan but I enjoyed the sound of Dream Of The Blue Turtles. Very unique.

      This entire video shows sting being the Victor Frankenstein of songwriting. He not only writes the lyrics, but also creates each and every element of the monster then puts it all together piece by piece and brings it to life

    Je m'en souviens !
    Sting et Phil collins ont la particularité d'avoir leur premier albums solo très très puissants.
    Malheureusement beaucoup les ont connu après.
    Face Value et The Dream of the blue Turtles sont les meilleurs de leur carrière Solo. Merci

    @rongravy that's what I like about Sting, he sings about things relevant to the world, he and Peter Gabriel came from the same mold, a very good one!!!

    • @BioDieselEstate
      @BioDieselEstate 4 года назад

      Mr. Gabriel & Sting are incomparable. As for moulds, Mr. Gabriel appears to have been dashed to Earth from a comet. Sting came from a production line which stamps out ... Things {:~)

    • @polite4canadians184
      @polite4canadians184 3 года назад

      "Sings about things relevant to the world" is such a nice way to say "pandering".
      Never forget that everything is a product contrived for the purpose of making cash. When you forget that you're being pandered to, that's just proof that the pandering has worked successfully. Your emotions are a product. All of our emotions are products to be exploited for money by people who fancy themselves to be "artists".

    He had the greatest musicians on this album. Singers from Chic, Branford Marsalis, I think the rhythm section from Chic. There was actually a lot of flack about him having this band when it was assembled for this project. Some people including Wynton Marsalis thought it was exploitive. Sting said he wanted the best musicians and that’s what he got. And it’s true because this is ageless.

    • @johnkeller9738
      @johnkeller9738 5 лет назад

      Not exactly the case; Sting took a very different turn to his jazz roots on this first solo attempt and indeed, many fans of the Police hated it from simply different expectations. That said, this is a fantastic album and tour remembering that Sting took a massive risk publicly at the time leaving the Police and going solo with fresh and different music. The breakup of both the Police (which really never was announced to even Stewart nor Andy) and his first marriage happened at the same time as this album and tour. It is still one of his best efforts. RIP Kenny Kirkland, one amazing piano and keyboard player.
