- The new Volvo XC60 has arrived - but is it as good as German SUVs like the Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC and BMW X3? Well I got to test both the D5 diesel and T6 petrol on the car's international launch in Barcelona Spain. So watch the video for my first impressions on the Volvo XC60. Join me drive as I it on a variety of roads, try out some of the technology, such as the revised Sensus infotainment system, and test how practical it is. One thing you won't see me do though is try out any of the clever new safety systems.... You'll have to watch my review to find out why.

For me a very easy pick over the germans, our streets is filled with the Q5, X3,GLC.. It looks better than the germans, interior design is way better, and basically its as good as the germans but with being more unique.
the mid trim Q5 with this stuff in it, is the same as a base XC60 with those packages added, and you will not be looked at as an idiot. If you need blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and auto high beams, you are a lazy f**king driver, and should take an Uber.
Austin P the audi with the same features is much more expensive and maintenance is twice the price as for a Volvo not to mention the usage of oil. I had to fill the carter of my Audi every 2500 miles, bugs in my navigation system, replacement of the suspension, so much for very expensive German "qualty". Never Audi anymore for me.
I had one Audi. Never again, will I throw my money at VAG. I have a XC90 now, and I will probably stick with Volvo for a while, it's my third.

Julian J Clearly u are an Audi fanboy. The new XC60 has set the bar very high. We test drove a GLC and it was awful compared to the Volvo. I do not care much for a boy racer Audi so have not driven that.

I am a happy user of XC60 (previous generation) in Indonesia,Jakarta. Trust me XC60 is a really really great & comfortable car and its safety features are very helpful.

Just ordered a fully loaded XC60 T6 R-Design in white with 22" rims. It's a true beauty. As far as exterior and interior are concerend, X3, Q5 and GLC do not even come close. Can't wait to get it in 3-4 months.

The old XC60 is still selling like hotcakes everywhere, especially in Europe, where it's still the #1 selling mid-sized premium SUV. I can only imagine how well the new XC60 will do.

There are two distinct front-end design trends today, particularly on SUVs: a flat pig snout (Mitsubishi ASX etc.) and dr. Lecter's mask or "egg-cutter" (e.g. Suzuki SX-4 S-cross). This Volvo combines both styles. Well done!

wonderful suv, i really like it. it's not easy to say if this is the best in class, or the q5 ot the others... because all premium cars are very good. maybe i would take this over the q5 or glc, especially if we talk about 2.0 tdi o 250 cdi !!
Great video , but I must say after watching this video the XC60 is simply stunning, absolutely gorgeous , love that metallic green with the light interior, better looking than its bigger brother XC90 with better performance too, so much better than the German designs , this Volvo will sell by the bucket load !! I WANT ONE !!!
If you were considering the XC60 T5 Inscription versus an Acura MDX with Technology package and AWD, which one would you pick? They both have a similar price with the trims I listed. I know the XC60 looks and feels MILES better, but Acuras seem to be more reliable.

1. Why would Volvo ban journalists from testing its in car safety equipment?
2. How come the UK won't be getting the T6 engine option for the XC60?

1. I'd believe thats so people don't put themselves in dangerous situations
1. Maybe in case the safety equipment fails or isn't convincing enough.
2. They may have conducted a market research and found out that it wasn't a viable option (not enough potential customers).
Because Volvo knows enough journalists will fuck it up, and make the system look bad, make wild claims about it that Volvo hasn't promised it will handle, or worse yet: hit someone. Easier then to make a blanket ban, and provide a written statement and stock footage.

Have you found an engine temperature gauge on the 2018 XC60? We have not. We drove a 2019 and it has one. Driving in US deserts, we like keeping track of engine temp.

When you tried the Q5 with air suspension was it fitted with a 20 inch wheels? If smaller it will make a slight difference

not surprising you have to keep your hands at the wheel and not just from a liability/legal perspective. E.g. when you have construction zones which result you in and not driving within but across different lanes. I think I may have also heard the systems also supposedly have a problem under extreme weather e.g. heavy rain or heavy snow.
