hey Nicole! Please at 55:10 you mentioned that some professors would reply saying that they did not have funding but how would that matter if you were already applying to this scholarship. Thank you
Because professors want to ensure that they have money to fund you in the event that you don’t receive the scholarship or if they need to supplement your funding (in the summer, extended program duration etc.)

No problem! It’s been about 2 years so I’m not exactly sure what my cv even looked like. I do remember outlining my academic and work experience but mainly focusing on extracurriculars, personal passion projects, community engagement etc.

You don’t. The endorsement process is much simpler than that. Please see the McCall MacBain website for an admins contact info. They’ll be able to explain it in detail!

They are completely separate applications, and you will need to apply for both the scholarship and admission to your graduate program of interest. However, you can apply to the scholarship before applying to your desired graduate program. Note that getting admission to McGill is a requirement for the scholarship, but it doesn’t guarantee you will get selected for the scholarship, so I’d still recommend sourcing out other funding. The scholarship team will announce a deadline to apply to at least one program later on in the interview process. Things might’ve changed since I applied in 2020, so be sure to reach out to scholarship admin team for the most accurate info!

Hi dear, yes there is a limit to references. I just applied last week and they asked for two refs, one for my community work and one for academic qualifications.

You’re welcome! It varies across different programs, but typically 18-24 months

Hi Kedon, you’re welcome! I used my academic email when I applied 3 years ago, but I’m not sure if there are now specific guidelines around what type of email to use. All of the application requirements are on the McCall MacBain Website 🙂

Hello Nicole, I was able to apply for the scholarship but when I checked the link to apply for the specific program admission it says for winter 2023 admission closes July 15 for international students meanwhile the program is for fall of 2023. Can you help me check this out.
Winter 2023 for your program means enrolment is this upcoming January. Note that the interview process for the scholarship would still be underway as each cohort of McCall MacBain scholars are selected in mid-late March and begins in the fall semester. Please reach out to a program advisor and the scholarship committee for more information on what your options are.
Im applying now but already sent and email for my university to be added in the endorsement list and still no response.
I think the endorsement happens on the backend after you submit your scholarship application. Please double check, but I believe the scholarship team will reach out to your undergraduate institution for endorsement.

I think that should be fine, but I would double check with the scholarship admin team by sending them an email. Their info can be found on their website!

A community reference is an attestation of your leadership endeavours from someone who knows you in such capacity. They’ll be sent an email (to the address you provide in your application) from the scholarship admin team asking for their input. For the most updated and accurate info, please send an email to the scholarship team to verify the process!

Unfortunately, we’re not allowed to help you with specifics on the application. This is just to keep things fair and original! If you have any questions or clarifications, your best shot is to ask the scholarship team directly. They’d have the most accurate info too! 😊

It’s pretty long, in my year it was about a half-day commitment
Suppose your first master program wasn’t research oriented one but you want to apply for the same program as your first but this time, a research oriented one. Will it be a limitation because you already have a master degree?

They said i need "maîtrise " for like one year but i am not sure what it is , a 1 year master degree?
A 1 year masters is usually a course-based professional masters program. A 3 year undergraduate degree is a Bachelors degree, while a traditional 4 year undergraduate program is a Bachelor’s degree with Honours
Hello Nicole, please I would like to know whether I need to apply for the various McGill masters programs individually before applying for the scholarship.
No you don’t have to apply to programs at McGill first! You can apply for the scholarship and then proceed with your program application later. However, in my year there was a deadline that they set for each finalist to have applied to at least 1 program; it was early-mid January if I remember correctly, but things change from year to year. Best bet is to send admin an email to double check! Best of luck with your application :)

I'm currently applying and I had a quick question, in the application form we are required to put a verifier's name as well as their contact info (for example when filling out the activity section for clubs and extracurricular activities) do you have any idea if the scholarship committee actually get in contact with them? Because some of my verifiers don't speak english😅.

I’m not sure if they reach out to them; if they do, don’t worry, I think they would figure out the communication channels

I am appealing for guidance and advice on how to choose a master's degree program at McGill University that I will be more qualified for because my CGPA is 3.55 on a 5.0 scale, and also can you send the list of the available master's degree program consisting of 45 credits. Hi Ezra, choose a masters degree program based on your career interest and what the department has to offer. We are students not staff, this we won’t be able to send you a list of such; I recommend reaching out to the McCall MacBain admin team directly. Good luck with your application!
Hello Nicole, First of all, thank you very much guys. I really appreciate all the advice and tips. Is a very high GPA from undergraduate studies required when applying for the scholarship? Because in all honesty, I heard that most of the applicants have a very high GPA of 3.7-3.9/4.0. Do you have any idea about the GPA of the students who got admission just so we can have an idea. :)
Hi Zaid, this is not a merit-based scholarship, the focus is leadership! A ‘very high gpa’ is not required for the scholarship application 🙂 you are not your grades, be confident in your sauce!
But note that GPA is important in the school application.

Why do they ask 'graduate programs outside McGill' under interest? Is it optional?

McCall University? Applying for the scholarship is entirely separate from your application to your desired program at McGill. Most people apply for the scholarship first since the deadline is earlier. No offer letter is needed to apply for the scholarship. Please see the scholarship website for more info on how to get in contact with admin

Yes! It can be course based or thesis based. As long as it’s a masters degree of professional undergraduate program (medicine, law etc.)
Did you get an endorsement from your principal when applying for the scholarship
I heard you need an endorsement from a principal of the school you graduated from
It wasn’t a formal endorsement that I personally sought out. I applied to the scholarship and in reviewing my application, the admin team directly contacted my undergraduate institution to endorse me as a candidate

Yes the endorsement is a requirement. If you check out the 2022-23 McCall MacBain open endorsement guide you will see a list of the officials (principal, provost etc.) that are permitted to endorse a student. Unfortunately I am not a MMS employee so this is as much info as I have privy to. I recommend sending them an email directly!

You can apply for the scholarship before applying to your desired program at McGill, but they will give you a cutoff date to have applied to at least one program to ensure that if you are selected for the scholarship, you have entry to a program at McGill. I also have MSC in manufacturing engineering with CGPA 4.00 and Excellent thesis and also I won a crystal cup winners award. I have one publication MDPI. I have provided volunteering service on charity association and voluntering tutorials for university. I have leadership experience but for few member of students.
