🟢Talent Gap and Upskilling: Bridging the Divide
The industry faces a glaring talent gap of approximately 1 million skilled professionals. However, this presents a golden opportunity for job seekers to bridge this gap by acquiring in-demand skills.
To make up for the global hiring slowdown, these institutes have also considered potential new startups for early slots, says Rajib Maity, Chairperson of the Career Development Centre at IIT-Kharagpur. However, not without a vetting process. IIT Guwahati’s Lalit Pandey says that startups in the financial and software domain with sound funding, competitive salaries, and challenging roles are making the cut.
Companies visiting the campuses include Deliveroo, Skiify, and Headout. Also visiting the IIT-Delhi and IIT-Madras campuses is aerospace manufacturing startup Agnikul. Its Chief executive Srinath Ravichandran shares that they are offering flexible packages, ranging as high as ₹20 lakh.
Indus Insights is planning to increase the freshers intake from IITs by 20% compared to the previous year, says co-founder Neha Sharma. Chaabi’s CEO Puneet Dhiman shares that students are keen on startups that tackle challenges and provide learning opportunities.
Another report by the publication states that the acceptance rate for pre-placement offers (PPOs) at the IITs also increased this year. Cisco, Oracle, Intuit, Goldman Sachs, and P&G are among the companies offering PPOs, the report adds.
The highest offer at IIT-Guwahati stood at ₹1.1 crore and the institute observed a 10% increase in the number of recruiters this year, shares Head of the Centre for Career Development Lalit Mohan Pandey.

Same issue happened to me . I have a total of 5 years of experience in Manual testing and knowledge of automation testing also. I was given L1 & L2 after L2 completed HR said client looking for only 3.5 year experience candidate only.
Day by day it's very challenging to clear the interview.

Sir I am 2019 passedout, I have 3 years of non IT experience now I want switch to IT so am I consider as fresher or experienced?
I am recently laid off from HCL Technologies due to the bench period. HR forced me to resign. I was on the bench from last 1 year, but did not deployed in any project.I joined as a fresher and got training in Java with Selenium after that I am and many others candidates did not deployed into any project. Currently I am employed and facing a lot of problems and not getting calls from anywhere after applying continuously on LinkedIn and Naukri .
I have cleared the 3 Rounds with R System for Automation Profile and also shared the Documents with them. But did not get any offer Letter and even now HR is not picking up the call.

I have 7 years experience on manual andnselenium with java .got layoffnin january ...took 2 months break...then got the offer with selenium with c#..did not liking working with this company but now a days there is no calls for interview..so just struggling to survive

Start looking for opportunities outside IT. This sector is already crowded, And with disruptive technologies staring at our face, only time will tell if we can weather the storm.
But i dont think infosys will remove whose experience is 4-5 years.... They put them on bench and gives time to learn new things.....

Just demand in next job that covers your upskill charges and descent compensation
