I appreciate your decision to travel by road . I travelled to Lahore from Karachi 30 years ago with family when the road network was not very good . I enjoyed my trip and the dal n chapatis of roadside dhabas . The road was not safe particularly in Sindh area so l cleared Sind during daytime . Hats off to MIAN NAWAZ SHARIF who got the motorways constructed n facilitated the public .

I'm not sure how you overlooked this, but there's a rest stop named 'Sahianwala Mini Service Area' on the M4, complete with all amenities, including a petrol pump. I've journeyed along this route countless times. Therefore, the recommended approach would be to refuel your vehicle first at the 'Bhera Rest Area,' followed by the 'Sahianwala Service Area' on the M4, and finally at the 'Uch Sharif Service Area' on the M5.
I started my journey by car from Karachi @ 0430 hrs and reached Peshawer @ 2200 hrs. same day. Had multiple breaks. First break Karachi to Moro, second break Sukkur, third break Shorkot, fourth break Bhera and then straight to peshawar. Single driver.

Your advices about the vehicle check-up, journey's grab & gear, fuel stations, rest points, etc. are all very practical and effectively presented. So proud of you guys! I was one of those who negated this idea merely because of your well-being and so glad that you guys have made it to-and-from safe & sound.
I have done this trip in June this year with kids. It’s difficult especially Sukkur to Hyderabad since no motorway. With small kid it’s difficult for him not recommended unless mandatory. Hats of to you being one driver
Thanks for this travelogue, nice to see how nice Pakistan Highway system is being built. 14 k / L seems low for Yaris...I get 16 in my Hyundai Sonata in Toronto / US highways..is it because of quality of fuel, I put 87 octane which IS regular...Thanks for all the details, who knows, I may visit Pakistan after 31 years......

I have personally travelled many times from lahore to karachi by road. I would recommend. - Start it around 10pm at night, lhr-sukkur is all motorway which you can do in night. - Make sure to do the sukkur travel in day light (too dangerous to do in night) + roads are in bad condition (will make you tire early) - Make sure to move to N55 when you are half done with sukkur. N55 connects to hyderbad interchange, and is around 100km long which is in much better condition then sukkur road. Btw I noticed that yaris only gave 14.2 avg, shouldn't this be arround 16-17?

Good and successful effort. Do not take risk of low fuel tank. Best day to cover the sukkur/karachi is friday, you will neither find any heavy traffic nor more rikahaw/carts/bikes on this track on friday.

7:30 i ve experienced low mileage after fueling up at this pump. Wese as you get on pindi buttian there is a Go pump. 2ndly at Faisalabad exit there are 2 pso towards Faisalabad & 1 B.E towards chiniot both gave good mileage.

After Sukkur you should take NH55 instead of NH5 as it has way less traffic and road is also good.

You should have taken N55 (Indus Highway) after Sukkur which goes directly to M9. It's a great route which hardly any traffic and newly built road.

Royal Taj Moro is a good place for the family to have breakfast, lunch and Dinner and to use the restrooms.
