  • This engine was consuming 0.4 - 0.5 litres of engine oil per 1000 km which is much more than usual. After doing some research I've concluded that 1.8 TSI series had this design flaw with its rings. They have installed the top ring as 1.0 mm, second ring is 1.2 mm and the bottom one or oil ring was 1.2mm(Very weak rings for the forced induction engine, Really whoever designed it was really inexperienced). After hearing so much of customer complaints Skoda had revoked this original type of Pistons and rings from the market. Now the current available rings are 1.2 mm on top, middle one is 1.5 mm and the bottom oil ring is 1.5 mm. (Which are reasonably better), In short even if the Pistons are fine you can't just change the rings but you have to change both which I did in this video.
Car in the video : Škoda Superb 1.8 TSI , 2011 or 2012 No idea how much HP it was 1 year ago.
Pistons and rings are used in this car are from Nural piston.
Do not imitate the methods I did in this video if you don't have enough experience in automotive repair work
