Wow! How have I not heard of y’all before?! You are BEAUTIFUL people. Who are amazingly creative! But yet down to earth! You don’t find that unless you’re chip and Joanna Gaines! My new fave people thanks for taking the time to teach and help people like me! That Sheetrock compound? Who da thunk it? God bless y’all and keep y’all and may cause his face to shine down upon y’all and give you favor forever! Peace, love and blessings forever, Nicole:-)
How very kind of you Nicole! You definitely made our day with your beautiful words. Thank you for watching! We’ll keep making and sharing so that others can learn what we’ve learned. 💛
You add the powder to water. An offset spatula (kitchen spatula that has raised handle) makes it easier to apply compound to the object be it wall or furniture
I love it! It turned out great! By the way a few yrs ago I put joint compound on a canvas and carved out a floral design and then painted it with acrylic paint. The effect was raised up and textural. I was surprised too that it worked. I used the kind that comes pre-made in a container.
Okay guys just found you and THANK GOD FINALLY REAL PEOPLE BREAKING IT DOWN SO EASY!! Oh btw you two are a lovely couple ! Ps just liked and SUBSCRIBED !! HOUSTON TEXAS IN THE HOUSE!!
FYI...It's easier to mark the center line of the decal before you cut it up. Also, the math is less complicated if you work in smaller units like centimeters or millimeters rather than fractions of an inch.
NEW SUBSCRIBER HERE! Because you took time to explain and encourage sharing “how to” . Beautiful end results. Thanks for showing the air sprayer doing the heavy lifting! Loved it.
Thank you for watching AND subscribing! I’m glad I can help. I know I had a lot of questions about working with Sheetrock mud so I wanted to share for others who did as well.
we have something here in Australia 🇦🇺 called spac filler I'm going to try it and then maybe rub Finnabair metallique wax, great video. This totally works just let dry, about 10 hours I bought the ready made and lightly sand by hand with 180 seal with wax then finnabair glaze.
Love this! I’m online learning how to paint a dresser similar to yours which is going to be a portable kitchen island. Wish I could send it to you to do!! I’m chicken!
Fun and informative tutortial. Thank you and have a great 4th oldtimer trick, when using hot mud put a bit of water in the pan first, makes in easier and faster to mix, the hotter the water makers it cure faster, but I have not seen an iron used, nice touch
How long to let it set before peeling stencil and joint compund off? I tried to skim all comments before I asked I didn't see anything. Love your work! Cute kitties!
Wow you're a fantastic couple and you guys work perfectly together 👍. Very similar to me and my husband 😜. Also you both are really awesome artists. Your pieces are awesome. I love them all. 👋👋👋 Kisses from Portugal. Thanks for sharing your work. 🥰
Do you happen to know anything about using the joint compound that's already mixed together in the little tub?? I'm abt to do my 1st ever raised stencil with the already made compound...do you just cake it on for it to be raised? Lol That's the part that I'm not getting🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️😂😂😔😔🥺🥺🥺
It should work the same. Your drying times may vary depending on how liquid-like or paste-like it is from the tub. And yes you just came it on. It’ll only be as raised as the thickness of your stencil. Some stencils are thicker than other but you want to scrape the excess so you have a clean design. Just cake it on and smooth it so that it’s flat with the stencil. Even if you have a thin stencil, you’ll have a raised pattern
Funny enough, this actually helps a ton! Comments and likes count as engagement and RUclips promotes those videos. So you’ve helped us on that end, Nicole! 😊😊😊
Hey girl houston in the house!! I need to know can i clear wax my chalk painted furniture and then stencil cause I'm FINALLY ready please help !! I did rich black chalk paint and im gonna clear wax it then joint ccompound the stencil on ????
Woot woot! HTown represent ✌🏽 You absolutely can! Just be gentle on the raised stenciled parts when you’re applying and, specially while buffing out the excess. Thank you for watching ☺️☺️☺️
I live in Northern Ireland. Can I you explain what joint compound, or sheetrock mud is? Would it be stuff we use to cover holes in walls or rough plaster before painting? Thank you.
I would think it’s the stuff you use to cover the wholes. Over here, sheetrock (gypsum boards) get covered with this mud to smooth them out and sometimes add texture. Plaster is more expensive here, so I would say the stuff to patch holes.
It’s the plaster made to be used in the joints of sheets of plaster board wall lining. When used on walls you plaster 2-3 thin layers. The last layer is finishing compound a finer, smoother plaster. Finishing compound might be the best to use
Such a beautiful piece! You guys did a gorgeous job :) I’m trying the same but with plaster of Paris- wish me luck lol. Curious where you found that stencil? I can’t seem to find anything large like yours. Thanks for the video!
So the stencil I used was from Prima Stencils and it has been discontinued. I have another video where I did a faux concrete look and that stencil has also been discontinued. So now I just stick to my go-to stencil source, which is Cutting edge stencils. www.idevaffiliate.com/33076/296.html I do have an affiliate link since I’ve worked with their products a bit. If you see my Faux Concrete video or my Boho dresser Anthropologie inspired you can see me using them. They are not as thick, but they still work great!
hello, where do you buy those stencils? from my country it is unavailable, so can someone help me to find it. I'm from Mauritius, thank you in advance guys. 🙂

I was from Re-design by prima. They have since discontinued it and tbh, I can figure out if they even make them anymore. After that I started using more cutting edge stencils, they are not a thick but still give you the 3D effect and they are great quality. Here’s my link if you wanna just check them out www.idevaffiliate.com/33076/296.html
Thank you for letting me know. I no longer work with some of the brands but if you go to Dixie Belle Paint's page, you'll find the paint (sand Bar) and wax (grunge) there.

Next time, draw a center line on the transfer before you cut it. That way, each piece is pre-marked and will line up perfectly.
I totally will!

That was 2x speed and on purpose. To illustrate the thinking process. But also not a priority of the video since it was only a few seconds of it.

Not sure if your sound is any good. It is sped up and sounds like children arguing. So distracting.
