What you forgot to include is, that Smoothie (one of her Cats) was the one who opened the Door.
I NEED MY QUASO
- Smoothie
Oof so Smoothie could open the door, go outside, and then the door closes automatically.
Good that guinea pigs can't jump that high, so I don't have to worry about it.
But...how is that even possible? doesn't it need a key? what kind of door is this?
How the heck would a cat open an autolock door tho? Because i know the type of door that would be common in Australia (wink) and that can't be opened by cats. It requires two opposable thumbed hands. It's not like American doors where one lock exists. Something fucky was going on, just saying.
Also, Kiara's not showing it much, but she's defo freaked out about it. Everyone here who has experienced someone else entering their place without permission knows the feeling.
@@feodaron89 My guess is that the door is "auto locked" from the outside. Meaning that to get in you need the key, but to get out you only need to push down the door handle. Maybe you can lock the door completely if you lock it using the key when leaving (or engaging the lock from inside), but if the brother left the door to auto lock it could still be opened from the inside with the handle alone... Similar to hotel room doors. Maybe.
"I was trying to remember if I did something illegal... That they would know of..."
Yagoo's dream fades ever so slightly every day.
Lots of things are technically illegal, but not unethical or immoral. For example downloading a ROM to play it on the PC when you have the cartridge. Ripping it yourself is legal, but sharing or downloading it is illegal. Same goes for movies on DVD or Blu-ray.
piracy is always morally correct dont listen to the feds
@@LaughingOrange That depends a lot on moral codes as well though. Some people would argue that anything that is Illegal is immoral by default. Or that if someone isn't immoral then it shouldn't logically be illegal.
@@moalboris239 Who actually thinks like that? I mean I can kinda get the seconds one. But just because someone thinks something shouldn't be illegal does not mean that it is legal.
@@moalboris239 Illegal never equals immoral -- on either direction.
Legislating morality is an impossible task for a government to take on. Especially when "moral" is a much more fluid and moving target in societies than "legal" is.
For example, there are some jurisdictions that it is illegal to defend someone from an attacker--but it's not immoral to do so. And there are some jurisdictions where it's not illegal to cheat on your relationship partner, but it is definitely immoral to do so.

It sounds like the kind of door that, when locked, is only locked to the outside but can still be opened from the inside. it's probably the kind of door that just doesn't have a door handle on the outside, so you need a key to get in anyway.
it's a popular design because you don't need to bother locking the door every time you leave and you're not locking in every other resident of your home.
those doors usually still have a lock you can engage with the key but only people with pets or small children that can open doors would ever think to use that feature.

I don't blame the neighbor, actually. Kiara presumably lives alone with no other roommates, so if her apartment door is completely open (i.e., not slightly ajar or something), that could set off alarm bells for forced entry. Kiara is a young woman of presumably athletic build (based on dancing endurance), so it wouldn't be out of the question to suspect that someone might have attempted to kidnap her.

But seriously tho, the neighbor did the right thing by calling the police.
Yeah, the police were probably rooting around expecting to find a body. If I saw one of my neighbors doors wide open and hadn't seen them for more than a day, I'd probably call the police too.
"Is this kiara? This is the police"
"Is this about the meth lab?"
"The what?"
"Nevermind, how can I help you?"
My rule of thumb is that if the same number calls me 3 times, one call after the other, I'll pick it up and see who tf has business so important with me that they took the trouble of calling me more then once.
Also I'm surprised the police didn't ask her to come back and see if nothing was missing from her apartment.
Me too, Telemarket and scams usually don't call the same person 3 times, it doesn't worth it for them.
I usually do it after 5 or 7. Too many spammers use 'third times the charm'.
Things are probably different for someone like Kiara though. A bunch of calls from an unknown number is probably quite scary for someone who is well known on the internet.
I still don't pick up unknown numbers, no matter how much they call. I call back if they text me or leave a voice mail stating who they are and what they need me for, and if it is important (like a call from the government) but I never, ever, pick up unknown numbers. I have so many blocked numbers from scammers on my black list, I'm not taking any chances.

Unless there is reasonable suspicion that a crime happened you should not call the police. People should know their rights and he right to privacy is a big one, the police should never enter your Home without a Warrant in hand. Before calling the Police the Neighbor could have knocked on the door and then close it if nobody is home or call the household or call relatives if they know the number and if not observe for a few days if something really irregular is happening. Then when the House owner is coming home you can ask if something happened and tell them what you observed that worried you. Do not call Police on intuition alone. There is strict boundaries of what the Police is authorized to do and it is in your and the police best interest to know what these are. also properly lock your door.
i often take care of my parents or relatives pets when they are on vacation and i always lock the door with key when im done, even though you technically cant get in from the outside if they are pulled shut.
I dunno... Some neighbors are not trustworthy~
If they knew you were leaving then they might plan something and do something while you're away~
@@doggypi1532 That's why you form a relationship with them, get to know them. I know there are some dodgy ones, but they are few and far between. Besides, you usually have more than just one neighbouring residence, the chances of all of them being untrustworthy are very low.
Kiara the absolute reflection of the common plebs fear of the police, lmao.
for good reason
1:03 unsolicited Quaso
"Door wide open, no one in the house... Idk what they saw that would make them call the police"
C'mon dawg
I would know if I did something illegal, its remembering and figuring which one they want to know. I don't need to self report every crime if they only wanted one *taps head*
ah yes the best form of remote alarm: worried neighbors
Be kind to them and you'll know about any suspicious activity around your apartment even before the security alarm company does.
The blame would be on her brother who did not locked the door properly from any perspective you would want to see this situation...
I live in a country and in the most secure neighborhood that having someone to break into your house is zero to none but whenever I want to leave the house I would check if I locked all the doors inside and even outside of my house.
I mean with the segment about going into her house, the biggest concern should be if noone stole anything or someone is hiding in her apartment, rather than being uncomfortable about people seeing your stuff.
I think you would still be uncomfortable if someone sees your stuff.
Nah with the vast majority of people in austria being decent people (and concerned neighbours and police already being involved), I would worry more about them seeing embarassing (or in her case NDA) things than someone stealing stuff
@@vocassen That's hilariously trusting. You'd make for an ideal theft victim.
I think I will live in Austria. I need those neighbors
@@moalboris239 the thiefs here in middle europe don´t give a shit about your level of trust . They come in the middle of the day when most people are of to work, check your home for the easyiest way in(most likely a window or backdoor) break in, steal your stuff and be gone in less than 30 min.
They were checking to see if shy complied with labor laws
Its a problem if the cat can open the door by itself...
I was in house maintenance for some time. I saw hundreds of apartments. Almost nobody has a clean home.
They pretend like its "just atm a little untidy" or its visible that they rushed cleaning when they know someones coming. Usually its both.
Dont feel ashamed. Its human. Having a clean home is nice but ultimately rare.
I can relate tot he number thing
The new "nobody suspects the Spanish Inquisition" is "Who expects the police to break into their home?" Lol.
So the cats opened the door?
apparently yes
Probably a door that hadn't actually closed properly (and thus locked) to begin with, but yes.
Last time my door was open when I was traveling, it was because someone broke in to steal my stuff. So I think I would react like her neighbors...
Quaso!
"that they would know of"
The lady doth protest too much, methinks
The fact that she has to remember if she did anything illegal is only a little bit concerning...
People using recreational products in their home should lawfully be fine if it only affects them. If it was illegal involving someone else being hurt should be the only thing concerning.
@@iNCoMpeTeNtplAyS That rule don't apply in every country. You could get prosecute for even possessing them in my country.
@@AlexSDU it wasnt a rule or law i was citing, i was just saying my opinion. if people arent hurting anyone but themselves, they should be free to smoke, drink, or inject anything they want in the privacy of their own home
Let this be a lesson to everyone. Pick up the fucking phone!
no. scammers abound
I'm guessing the cops went through everything in case the occupant had been murdered and stashed somewhere.
Good on the neighbour, given what they were aware of, namely a young woman who apparently lives alone has her door suddenly left open with her cats running free and no sign of her?
Yeah, that looks like a very scary situation where time may be of the essence.
Nobody expects the Austrian police!
I thought they showed up cause she was stealing people's hearts 🥰
