How many times can I say Lidlington in a video? 🤣
150s: They're better than nothing. - Jen 2024
Now it's just a matter of time when this line will appear in a national rail yearly report in a "life extend justification" section.
You're giving them ideas Jen! 🤣
@@Psevdonim123150s In Buxton Are fine
Your videos are an absolute event! It's become my solo-dinner ritual to sit down with good food and watch whatever is new on your channel, and sometimes old things too. You do something really good to my nerves and I hope little comments of appreciation let you feel a bit of what that calming and warm feeling is like! 🥰
I so agree with you. 🎉
I agree so much! I like to start my Mondays with a Jen video or two if I can. Calms me right down. :)
I wonder if there's a Lidl at Lidlington. It seems like there ought to be.
I can't believe I missed that joke!
@@JenOnTheMove You're obviously far too posh to have heard of Lidl before seeing my comment!
@@JenOnTheMoveyep I spotted it but I do shop at Lidl so clearly burnt onto the brain.
Great video, Jen - what I love about your videos is that you are showing me bits of the country I’ve never seen. As a town planner, Stewartsby is fascinating - looks like a great planned village!
Oh my goodness. I must go there. Thank you, Jen, for the lovely film. 🎉❤
That ending was brilliant with the name of that road, think it was Silverlink which operated the line but the livery is Central Trains, it nice to see Stewartby in the light as I visited last year and was pitch black, great video Jen.
Haha I made her do that!
@@Squareybee Your excitement when you saw the sign was delightful!
I am very easily amused
Silverlink that's going back some years
Great video again Jen!
Nice to see a glimpse of your glamorous assistant.
👍🙂
Hi! 😊
The staggered platforms are a clever way of putting the level crossing behind trains standing at both platforms. This means the gates can be opened as a train enters the platform. If a crossing is in front of a train then the gates must be shut for the entire time that the train is stationary.
Excellent i loved watching this video Jen. Yes it was Silver Link.
The Marston Vale line is the place to be if you like quirky villages and "in the middle of nowhere " stations
Some of the station platforms were completely rebuilt in the early 2000s when the line was re-signalled
A Finger on the Teapot Lid is a trick I should have learnt, before I created such a mess in a posh Cafe once.
Mugs all the way!!!!!😂😂😂😂
I enjoyed watching.
Brilliant video Jen, it's always a shame when ticket machines don't work lol. I really do think that bus shelter you found looks grand. That livery you see at Lidnington is Central trains, I remember them very well. :)
I think they are off as there's a £1 deal on and it was too difficult to reprogram them for the temporary fares. Bad luck if you are travelling further than Bedford or Bletchley.
Great part 2 Jen. Ridgmont station was lovely when I visited in March.
Great upload Jen on the move
Having only been to Stewartby out of the places in this video, you really get a sense of how it used to be a much busier village. The town hall in the background of some your shots is excellent too.
Nice to see the Class 150s back on the Marston Vale Line. They have improved the Marston Vale Line as the Class 230 were an absolute failure since Vivarail went into liquidation.
Plus as you have been to Kempston Hardwick station there is a threat of seeing it closed and replaced by a brand new railway station at Wixams that will serve the new development.
Great video Jen your videos are very nice 😊
Supriseingly Beautiful stations, although not a surprise that the tickets machines of course don't work, think you should count the faulty machines on every station you visit 😂
I live very near to Stewartby and it's a beautiful place, do visit the millennium country park if you are in the area. But use Millbrook as there's a footpath right next to the station. The visitor centre serves lovely food as well!
I just love your videos Jen! 😊
brilliant vlog
Thank you 😊
I'm not from that area either but I have seen video footage from the late 90s (when Heritage DMU's were on the line) and it was indeed Silverlink. The drawing on the platform is Central Trains though.
Thanks for that video!
looked it up Stewartby was home to the worlds largest brickworks until its closure in 2008 and demolishment in 2021
Another fab video and you are soo right, let’s get out and explore this amazing country. There are so many little pockets of fabulousness tucked away in all parts. Also will we find a working ticket machine again??
Also about Apsley Guise, In 2004 the down platform which I’m guessing is platform 1 you were stood on, was demolished and a new platform was built on the other side of the level crossing.
Hi Jen just googled who operated this line before London Northwestern it was London Midland and before that it was silverlink country (a sub brand of silverlink trains). hope that helps
dates - Silverlink 2nd march 1997 - 10th November 2007 London Midland 11th November 2007 - 10th December 2017 London Northwestern Railway 10th December 2017 - present (contract expiration date 20th September 2028 )
LNWR: Buy £1 tickets from our ticket machines!
Also LNWR: All our ticket machines are out of order!
I’m sure it was Silverlink. What I find interesting about the line is it was part of the Oxford - Cambridge line. There were major Cities at each end and two smaller towns in the middle. I’ trying to think of a major route where the middle section survived but not either end. I can’t think of another example.
Big Cake is also good \m/
It was Silver Link but they hired in Central Trains 150s.
Cheers Jen and guest for another fine video, loving the hair cut!😀
Yes, your hair looks lovely. 😊 ✂️
Weird seeing a class 57 there!
My neck of the woods not a lot to see. The old trains were good. Line maybe busy if universal studios get permissions at kempston.
I just booked tickets to go visit the line next weekend, thanks for visiting the heritage centre because I now know where I need to visit!
The Aspley Guise are Geoff and his guitar playing colleague. Would love to do this line one day
Hansons - Mmmbop ;)
Great video jen to find the heritage centre in Ridgmont station and it does have a level crossing
Me last time: "Wow, she didn't go over at it about 150's that's something new!"
Me now 15 seconds into the video: "Ok here we go..."
so how do you purchase fares when the ticket machine(S) is out of order? A mystery to this tourist.
There is something about having tea in a little cafe or shop when the service is a mishmash of china. Just a cozy, homey feel.
Isnt there a song that you are supposed to sing with Aspley Guise? ;-)
U sing spice girls well and that song is the best 1, maybe a bit of steps next time preferably 5678 as that's there best song 🎵. Good video as always
lidl ington?!
That's weird, the livery at Lidlington is Central Trains but the area was Silverlink operated
Are the Aspley Guise related to the Theydon Bois?
Hope you can get the the chip-shop at Fenny Stratford.
Weren't Silverlink and Central both owned by National Express?
Would you rather see a class 150 train or a voyager train?
cause we are the aspley guys
London Northwestern Railways and West Midlands Railway are the same company, I think, or at least have the same parent company.
Both London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway are sub-branded train operators that are part of West Midlands Trains. Since they took over from London Midland in 2017.
I had noticed your haircut. It’s a good length on you.
That tea looked as weak as hell 😐
I put too much milk in. Oops
