I would say the chinese plastic was defective. On the austin healy you showed, the plastic hang tag was yellowing too.

Yeah I have a Mustang in the early 90s that started yellowing I always wondered the reason why it yellowed and some don't but fortunately the yellowing hasn't compromised the Mustang inside but if I had to make a guess I guess it would probably be poor quality but thank you for bringing up this subject.

Interesting. While UV rays are the usual culprit in plastics turning yellow, the fact that these cars were stored in identical conditions may mean the problem is coming from the paper card stock instead. Most paper is first whitened to make printing colors on it better with formaldehyde and other chemicals. It's possible that the card stock is off-gassing those chemicals and destroying the plastic from the inside out.

I have some that turned in a box in my basement, normal temperatures and humidity. Just the quality of the plastic.

Is the color of the car really different, or is it the yellowed blister, that makes it appear different? I've got a few Redlines, on card and only one has yellowed, and was clear, when I got it. ✌

I have a 3-window 34 ford from 1995 (speed gleamers series) thats turning yellow not as bad as these ones but it was made in Malaysia not sure how its been kept over the years as i only bought it today
Is there a way to get them back clear while being on card still would be nice to be able to get them looking new again?

I had an idea of the glue holding the blister on, maybe it was sloppily added and the fumes filled the inside the blister and the chemical reaction caused it over time, all mine that is yellowing are Malaysian made

My yellow pack cars were stored in AC room with no sunlight due to a closed box they were in. China does it again!
