I went to an arcade recently and found a Marayln Taxi machine. And I freaked the hell out when I found it. Great game and glad I found the original version!
Great stuff - I picked up a Taxi a few months ago in really bad shape so it's a labor of love restoration. Getting close to actually playing my first game on it. Jackpot display isn't working but everything else is - I just need to finish cleaning it and put it all back together. After watching this video I'm more motivated to burn the midnight oil to start playing it!
I just got Taxi in. I can't say what it is specifically I really like about it (as with most of the best pins it seems) but having some pickups being single shots, others being timed drop targets, and some shots being used for multiple goals makes it different to any other pin I can think of. Add in having to do it all without draining is really addictive and fun. "You give to me ride!".
I like the way you've managed to get the designer to sign the back screen, so your pinball becomes a signed work of art. I would imagine your collection will steadily increase in value. I have my first vintage pinball from '73...I loved playing them in their heyday, and I might start a collection. Thanks for sharing and saving these wonderful machines ~ thumbs up!
I'm not even a pinball fan, and I still find your videos absolutely captivating due in equal parts to your obvious passion for the subject and your superlative skill at video production. I've been considering starting my own game review series for a long time now, and I have to admit, it's videos like yours that may push me over the edge and convince me to actually get off my lazy butt and do it. Keep 'em comin', man. I'm always happy to see a new video from you on my RUclips page. (:
Im going to Marathon your pinball videos havent really watched em yet cause Ive been saving them. I dont know too much about pinball but I always love the enthusiasm and passion you have for your hobbies that shines through in your videos. Black Knight 2000 is my favorite machine only because thats damn music and Shao Kahn demanding your money.
I have a Taxi with a Marilyn playfield! I just spent the past week rebuiding the flippers and finishing up my LED mod. I wish my playfield looked as nice as yours, though.... The paint below my Marilyn drop targets is pretty worn. Same with the Drac shot. I'm currently putting money aside for when CPR releases their repro Taxi playfields.
@dde12321 I will definitely mention DK in the final "misc." segment. I was proud to restore that one up. The first and only (so far) arcade I ever built up. Ha ha. ;)
Hey, thanks Shaneus! I had fun shooting these little segments. I shot the entire series in about four total days (over two sessions). So, I'm glad they came out decent so I could edit something together. It is mostly my memories spewing out. Ha ha. Thanks for watching!
@silkvein Hey, that's great. I'm glad you enjoy them. Ugh....I'm sorry but....I can't really give you any advice on what game to get. You need to get one that you enjoy (there are WAY too many out there). You know? I would scour the Mr. Pinball Classifieds and the Internet Pinball Database and maybe use both to research prices and machines. :) Sorry I couldn't be more help. But, thanks a ton for watching!
Ahhhh, the Taxi game at the bowling alley, man, sure need to get a Taxi. HEY!! We had the same response every ttime we picked up Gorby as well.......... HEY!! Shooting pot games and playing Taxi and Fish Tales at the same time until 4 in the morning. HEY!! Give it to me, RIDE!!
The best part of this video was the "Bucci's Arcade" banner that was on the wall at 8:02 that was obviously made with Print Shop :). Another great video, don't know why it took me so long to see this one. You can play my Taxi in Allentown in a few weeks! See you then Chris!
@taternuggets1 I actually found that the Williams Pinball Hall of Fame did a pretty good job keeping the physics of the original game. Obviously, it is still WAY off in some ways (and could never replicate the way they actually feel). They definitely surprised me...especially for the price. I totally agree, snag it! :) Thanks for watching.
Really great video Chris. When Farsight released Taxi on their Pinball Arcade platform, I already knew a lot about the game from your video, and was able to get more out of it. I was also able to spot the fact they decided on the "Lola" version rather than the "Marilyn" version, for obvious licensing reasons. I've directed a fair few Pinball Arcade Fans to your videos, and I know there are a fair few of your youTube vids embedded on the forum. They are an excellent reference.
I have to say man, watching your pinball reviews is a treat. I recently was at a garage sale, and this old couple brought me into their home and let me play their original Funhouse pinball machine. that experience coupled with the enthusiasm you show in these videos has inspired me to pick up a machine for my personal arcade. any tips on some good machines for a beginning collector? A good all around machine that isn't too insane on the wallet?
I picked up an xbox360 game today for 19.00 called Pinball Hall of Fame: Williams Edition... it has around 13 Williams tables you can play... One of which is Taxi. Now, playing on a real machine is absolutely unbeatable... but this game comes about as close as you can get... check it out, you really cant beat it for the price. It also has Funhouse, Whirlwind, Black Knight, Pin-bot, bunch of others.
@drunkeykong12 I am going to mention them briefly in the final segment, but I won't be doing too much detail (that's why I tried to re-upload them in, at least, slightly better quality). You know? Ha ha. Tanks.
I was, yes. One spec of ONE insert came off but was lightly touched up. Otherwise, holding my breath....it came up nicely. But, I HATE removing the stuff and rarely do it. It scares me. ha ha. Thanks for watching!
Excellent my friend!!! Cyclone is a fantastic game and honestly...it is one nostalgic-heartbeat-down from Taxi (some day I hope to snag a nice one to put side-by-side). :) Enjoy and thanks for writing.
I bought Wiilliams Pinball Classics for my 360. I finally got the chance to play it and I love it :) I wonder if I Will ever get the chance to play a real one
@samo0701 Thanks my friend. I hear you.....I can't believe how that game has retained its value all these years (especially with SO many of them in production). Ha ha. :)
5:00 that’s the only problem I have with 🚕 the bell is really loud I’m really sensitive to sound if I get a taxi pinball machine I’m going to remove the 🛎 and maybe sell it for extra parts
@naikanomtom Yeah, some people said they were having trouble viewing it. And...I think I might have accidentally deleted it in the confusion so. Oops. :) A friend of mine went to MR's house for an interview and they got autographs for me. :) ):
i love your videos and i watch them literally constantly! im not good at reading the rulesheets they always confuse me but you break it down perfectly! btw would you be able to make a video on general pinball tips and tricks? ive seen some people do some crazy shots before and im guessing most people have a general strategy for pinball...all i go for usually is multiball lol thats what i was addicted to doing when i was a kid and its always been my fave thing to do
Great video! First one of yours I've watched, but with your enthusiasm and interest, I'll definitely be watching more :) Unfortunately, never seen a Taxi pop up on eBay here in Australia, so they might be one of the rarer tables (if it came out here at all). But great to (practically, kinda) experience it on your video. Well done.
@bend3 Ha ha. I was always carrying my camcorder around with me. So, it was more "for fun." Always making silly videos, you know? Little did I know years and years and years later I would have some nice little clips to choose from for other projects. :) Thanks a lot!
@spida1a Speaking of- we've had our Pin*Bot for a while now- and the other night while a buddy was playing it he tilted- and it said the tilt message "I Tilt, you lose".... freaked us out- we had never heard him say it before...guess every day is a school day huh?
Yes, you DO feel like crap when the spinout rolls over to 1,000. By the way, I didn't see you at the Allentown Pinfest this year. I always go since it's even walking distance from my house!
Great video's , Taxi is my most nostalgic Pin too. I'm glad to finally have picked one up last year. Just got a JM last month and a NBA fastbreak a few days ago. Can't wait to see the next video's How many left?
@Wyrdwad Definitely do your own game series. You know? Just have fun, do your "own thing" and....hopefully people will enjoy it. I don't know how anyone can listen to me for more than second or so...so...I am honored anyone likes me at all. ha ha. Take care.
@spida1a No problem man! I actually prefer the "hunt" in the end. Been checkin' out the Mr. Pinball site as well, and it is a gem for sure! I'm torn right now between a Funhouse, an Earthshaker, or a Rollercoaster. I think I'll just wait to see what pops up on Mr. Pinball and let fate make my decision. Mad props though man. One of these days I'll have to man up and get my RetroRoadshow channel running so I can join you cats in all this fun.
@spida1a you know, I will have to look. This machine came from a collector and he had definitely made several revisions. I can look and see or send you a few pics to an email if that would work- just PM me. The machine in question is shown playing in my videos. Great vids, keep em coming...
Chris I have two taxi machines. One of machines has what looks to be a early flipper control board and the flippers have no eos switches. Have you ever seen that on one of these?
Just bought my first pinball machine, and it's a Marilyn "Taxi". My playfield is pretty decent overall, however, I'm interested in how you went about having the playfield redone?
@newkillergenius Wow. I have never heard that particular Tilt quote before. I've only heard "Tilt...all data lost! Tilt...all data lost!" Which ROM revision are you using? Just curious ;)
Cool, hope to see them soon. Thanks for the reply. I know you did the review of BBB and Family guy, Is there any chance you will do a "My gameroom" segment on either. Or was that about everything you really had to say about them? Thanks again, keep up the great work!
Hi Chris, love your videos! I'm a long time watcher and a first-time commenter. :) I found a Williams Hurricane for sale (the final machine of the Williams rollercoaster trilogy of Comet and Cyclone) for $900 in pretty nice condition. I'm wondering why it might be so cheap.. Do you enjoy the game, and what would you do if you had this opportunity? Just looking for a second opinion! Thanks!
I rewatch all your pinball videos every few years. They make me happy.
I went to an arcade recently and found a Marayln Taxi machine. And I freaked the hell out when I found it. Great game and glad I found the original version!

Thanks so much for the kind words. I'm really glad you enjoy the vids. It's great people like you who make it worth while. :) Thanks!
They had taxi at Godfather's pizza in my hometown in the mid 90s still one of my favorites
@darkinertia2 Thanks so much for the wonderful compliment. I'm glad you enjoy them. I have more planned.....thanks!
I'm not even a pinball fan, and I still find your videos absolutely captivating due in equal parts to your obvious passion for the subject and your superlative skill at video production. Out of all of the games on arcade pinball on Ipad, Taxi is the most addictive. great music, great action. I wish i could find one for sale locally
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Great video 👍 watched the whole thing.
Im going to Marathon your pinball videos havent really watched em yet cause Ive been saving them. I dont know too much about pinball but I always love the enthusiasm and passion you have for your hobbies that shines through in your videos. One of my all time favorites, if not THE favorite. Would love to own one someday. Thanks for the video!

Hey does the game have a lot of speech?
@silkvein Hey, that's great. I'm glad you enjoy them.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. But, thanks a ton for watching!
man i can't wait to hear you story regarding "The Getaway" Pinball machine, that is one of my favorites!
Just tried this out in Pinball Arcade and have to agree, it's a very fun table. And yes, I'm yelling HEY!! when I get Gorbie.
sometimes i go to a arcade up in new hampshire called "the pinball wizard arcade". They still have old pinball machines including taxi
Can't wait until part 13. Keep up the entertaining videos.
It's cool that you have one with Marilyn!
@bosnia91 Who knows. Ha ha. I'm sure the Monroe estate has more money than Williams Electronics maybe. Ha ha.
Thanks for watching! :) :)
@jasejaw Depends. Have you ever worked on pins before? If not, I would say "no" and "yes" (unless it is related to the board inside the head). :)

@Diskoboy1974 Thanks for sharing and watching!! :)
In the spinout, there's a skill shot if you land on 25 thousand, you will instantly pick up a passenger.
I have to say man, watching your pinball reviews is a treat. I recently was at a garage sale, and this old couple brought me into their home and let me play their original Funhouse pinball machine. that experience coupled with the enthusiasm you show in these videos has inspired me to pick up a machine for my personal arcade. any tips on some good machines for a beginning collector? i remember i hated this table at first. I thought it was just too difficult. But play after play it grew on me. Now this is how i feel: :3
@shadowflame1976 It is the next...."next" vid pinball-wise. Should be up in a month or so (next one is Diner coming this week). :)
@XRATED1984 Ha ha. Well, there ya' go! Thanks for watching!
@drunkeykong12 I am going to mention them briefly in the final segment, but I won't be doing too much detail (that's why I tried to re-upload them in, at least, slightly better quality). You know? Ha ha.
Tanks.
@quotetoe Wohoo!! Hope you enjoy it and thanks!!
Great stuff as always Chris. You always have the best pinball video reviews.
@up0 Thanks for watching!
I was, yes. One spec of ONE insert came off but was lightly touched up. Otherwise, holding my breath....it came up nicely. But, I HATE removing the stuff and rarely do it. It scares me. ha ha. Thanks for watching!
@PressStartComic Thanks my friend, as always! :)
Excellent my friend!!! Cyclone is a fantastic game and honestly...it is one nostalgic-heartbeat-down from Taxi (some day I hope to snag a nice one to put side-by-side). :) Enjoy and thanks for writing.
Always great watching your vids, Chris. I just put a deposit on a Cyclone and Taxi (Cyclone is to me what Taxi is to you).
I bought Wiilliams Pinball Classics for my 360. I finally got the chance to play it and I love it :) I wonder if I Will ever get the chance to play a real one
Cheers Chris, you have a Marylin!!
@pookieizzy7 Thanks a lot! I appreciate it. It's a passion and a true addiction...I miss collecting and can't wait to again someday. :)
@TrueSoreThumb Lol! I have an annotation up about it at the beginning. :)
@samo0701 Thanks my friend. I hear you.....I can't believe how that game has retained its value all these years (especially with SO many of them in production). Ha ha. :)
Ah, Taxi... I had my own machine and lost it in a divorce. I sure miss it. Thanks for making the video.
@gohan4916 Thanks for watching!
My pizza place had this growing up in the 80s. So cool to see!
Oops. :)
A friend of mine went to MR's house for an interview and they got autographs for me. :) ):
@djsreview Thanks. I try to relay my memories more so than "gameplay" with the pinball vids Ha ha. Thanks for watching!
i remember playing taxi when I was in college... it was definitely one of the fun table... although i've never gotten the jackpot.
i love your videos and i watch them literally constantly! im not good at reading the rulesheets they always confuse me but you break it down perfectly! btw would you be able to make a video on general pinball tips and tricks? ive seen some people do some crazy shots before and im guessing most people have a general strategy for pinball...all i go for usually is multiball lol thats what i was addicted to doing when i was a kid and its always been my fave thing to do
Great, great great!! I thnik in the same way,.
I also own a Marilyn Taxi, restored it, and I will never will sell this beloved machine!
Great video! I'm just gonna be honest with your chris but your videos are soooo well done
Interesting video and story. Thanks for sharing
@drunkeykong12 Well, there's 3 more pinball videos, 2 of which you saw in the preview for 2010, Getaway and Whitewater, and there's also Funhouse.
@bend3 Ha ha. I was always carrying my camcorder around with me. So, it was more "for fun." Always making silly videos, you know? Little did I know years and years and years later I would have some nice little clips to choose from for other projects. :)
Thanks a lot!
@srarcade It was called Eastway Lanes (is still there). ;0
@spida1a
Speaking of- we've had our Pin*Bot for a while now- and the other night while a buddy was playing it he tilted- and it said the tilt message "I Tilt, you lose".... freaked us out- we had never heard him say it before...guess every day is a school day huh?
Yes, you DO feel like crap when the spinout rolls over to 1,000. By the way, I didn't see you at the Allentown Pinfest this year. I always go since it's even walking distance from my house!
Wow... you have the limited edition. Only about 300 were made!
@spida1a
Hey Chris, you were right- he says 'Tilt- all data lost'. Happened last night at about 5,400,000. *sigh*
I don't know how anyone can listen to me for more than second or so...so...I am honored anyone likes me at all. ha ha.
Take care.
@Quakeman224 I hear you. There definitely isn't much of it anymore. Different world...ya' know? :)
Thanks!
@raindog151 Thanks my friend!!
Love these videos. And I love Taxi. But I only have the digital version, wherein Marilyn is called Lola. I guess for legal reasons. XD

@spida1a You're makin' progress now!
@spida1a
you know, I will have to look. This machine came from a collector and he had definitely made several revisions. I can look and see or send you a few pics to an email if that would work- just PM me. The machine in question is shown playing in my videos.
Great vids, keep em coming...
@simplyvk Hey, thanks my friend. Good stuff!
Ha! I just watched Rocky 3 ironically. Love Paulie! :)
Take care.
Thanks for watching!
@BarbieOnWeed Thanks a lot!
Got the dvd today thanx chris
@Spuweee Hey, thanks for sharing! :)
Chris I have two taxi machines. One of machines has what looks to be a early flipper control board and the flippers have no eos switches. Have you ever seen that on one of these?
I should of noted the flipper board is mounted next to the bell in the lower cabinet. It's really odd.
Just bought my first pinball machine, and it's a Marilyn "Taxi". My playfield is pretty decent overall, however, I'm interested in how you went about having the playfield redone?
@theRVGN Ha ha. IF I had to sell something and didn't need much money, probably Johnny Mnemonic. But, I love the game.
@newkillergenius Wow. I have never heard that particular Tilt quote before. I've only heard "Tilt...all data lost! Tilt...all data lost!" Which ROM revision are you using? Just curious ;)
I had a Twilight Zone for a brief time. But, I currently don't have one. :) Thanks for watching!
Do you still have the collection? That'd be awesome if you started to add more machines.
Do you also like Police Force and the Black Knight 2000?
Those are my favorites!
@TheCrulZ2348 If he had anything to do with the game, it would be on this one too! :)
@newkillergenius Ha ha. I love his quotes. "Pinbot...stranded!" :)
Hey Chris, what was the bowling alley you played this at not far from Putt-Putt?
I dig this game.
Oh I commented before the end of the video XD You touched on that.
Cool, hope to see them soon. Thanks for the reply. I know you did the review of BBB and Family guy, Is there any chance you will do a "My gameroom" segment on either. Or was that about everything you really had to say about them?
Thanks again, keep up the great work!
Simple fun fast table.
Thanks!
Nice review wish I had a Adams family
