Agree elders get off on their “power”. Look at them. They’re janitors, window washers, etc. in the world. In the congregation they are like “kings” and act as such.

I wish I could say that not all elders are like that. But, I can't. Every elder that I ever knew was like that. Their chest stuck out a little further than anyone else. When I was called in to the kangaroo court, I was totally relaxed. They seemed to be more upset about it all than I was. I didn't care what they were going to do. It didn't matter to me at all. It was just foolishness to me. But, if they wanted to get themselves all worked up, then I thought, go for it. This stupid committee would not effect my life on any level. I would still do everything I always did before this elders meeting. Nothing would change in my life. Like the Joker said, why - so - serious?

There is the fear of losing family for elders, too. I know an elder who i love like my own flesh and blood. I know he has doubts. But, he shuts them away. This same brother literally cut off his own son. Thats damn cold. Even when i think about it, its hard for me to reconcile the person i know and kid around with is the same person who stopped talking to his own son. His own flesh and blood. And this is a brother who is considered warm. It's really weird. His own son was df'd for a sin incidental to youth. Then, discovered the truth about the org. The father couldn't handle it.

Its careless and morally bankrupt. How can you counsel someone going through a crisis of some sort with scriptures? How can you counsel a woman with problems or situations peculiar to women when you have no training? A women who is abused in one way or another? A child being beaten where they usually side with the parents? Or with someone struggling with gay Identity and may not even be practicing and so on? Yet, are still judge by idiots in the congo.. This is very very reckless. They dont even refer people to mental health agencies or people who can facilitate a set-up with one. These are people's lives and mental well-being we're talking about. I am still bothered by decisions that I was part of that had such devastating effects on people’s lives. I now know just how the shunning feels and it breaks my heart to know that decisions I was involved in caused such hardships for others.

I left in the early 90's when I was about 17 and my pop was a big time elder and highly respected so when I decided to leave, (not for doctrine reasons but just because I didn't dig it and feel it. I was spiritually lazy and didn't care and just wanted to not go to meetings, give talks, and do more. I just wanted to live my life skating, playing in punk bands with my friends, playing baseball, and enjoying a normal life while still keeping my grades up and joining extra school stuff normal. I just didn't want to be a witnesses going to meetings and studying for the watchtower and all that stuff for Sunday, Tuesdays and Thursday book study. Damn I just needed my life. Fast forward after I left my dad smelled the bullshit and saw some shit especially in the judicial committee and my pop also noticed some elders had daggers for certain brothers or sisters they didn't like so my pop recommended that they not attend and get someone else but some elders were like NO NO I have to be there only because they had personal issues to get them out and my pop smelled that from a mile away and at one point almost beat the shit out of one of cocky arrogant older elders and over time my pop started questioning shit and they told my dad to shut his mouth and sit down in so many ways and my dad at one elders meeting just threw off his tie and pretty much told the elders to go fuck themselves and threw them the finger and walked out and never looked back. He did give up his Shepard book and stepped down respectively like a man and then just faded and we became a better happy family. I was so proud of my dad in that time especially when the overseers and elders started hounding my and and myself and my pop was like I'm busy etc. and poof. We were gone. This was in 94 or 95 I think. We still talk about stuff and my dad always tells me crazy judicial meetings with the juicy stories of disfellowshipped stories and reproofs with sexy nasty confessions and damn the trash smut stuff that witnesses have done and then confessed...DAMN. Stories for Porn Hub movies I tell you what. As a matter of fact...I've heard more crazy sex stories inane more that worldly people stories and I've been in the S&M scene so I've seen and been a part of that crazy stuff the but jw's ...my goodness. They are crazy. Elders passing out drunk in the front seat while his wife is banging his buddy a ministerial servant in the back seat drinking in an hidden alley only so no-one can catch the trio partying drinking but then guess what...lol Then confessing to my pop and of course my pop admitted the other elders asked for intimate details on who was on top, did you suck this lick that, did you do it doggytyle, did you cum, did you swallow etc. NO JOKE! I kid you not. lol My pop are and I are pretty tight so I'm showing him all these youtube channels and my pop is watching them as well and of course having fun telling stories but he did say the elders are horny and love a good sex story and love to harass and embarrass the sisters and brothers. My pop didn't like that and always bumped heads with the sicko elders as my pop was more of a good reasonable guy and just couldn't take it anymore ...hence why my dad almost beat the shit out of one of elders on that elders meeting and my pop threw that elders down on his seat and almost fell over his head. They had to separate my dad like a Rocky fight. So my dad was an ex bad ass elder. Sorry for the long story but I just felt like I had to share this story. Hope it's entertaining as it was for me as his son who left.

echo those same sentiments B. In retrospect I’m glad I got put on public reproof because that’s when I lost all “privileges” in the hall - and that’s also when I started to wake up and finally discover all of the ex-JW’s in cyberspace. It took some time, but 2 years later I finally left after months and months of research (I had a lot of spare time since I had no responsibilities in the hall. I got them back gradually but by that time my “love for jehovah” was lackluster and the elders could tell, so I pretty much just showed up to meetings, did my little assignments and built up my knowledge of the REAL truth)

They asked me how things were in my personal life, and I almost felt obligated to tell them the truth in “God’s house”. (I would’ve probably needed me one of them JC meetings if I had lol.) Then I finally became human again and decided not to tell them all my business. They were none the wiser. I guess the “Holy Spirit” and “spirit of discernment” failed them that day...

You don't think this is serious? Nope! It's just foolishness, so carry on. You gotta do, what you feel you gotta do. I have absolutely no problem with that. Why would I? It's only silliness. They did not follow scripture at all just kept quoting Watchtower. I had four brothers in my judicial against me only and was not allowed to take my phone or bring notes.
this is NOT God's arrangement. They just kept asking if I believed in the "organization" being Jehovah's earthly org and belief in GB. I stated 1 Timothy and they quickly made their man made judgment.

Being in that meeti g would wake you up. Unfortunately the elders are men who derive their sense if worth from being in charge of other humans, hence they never see it. I secretly recorded some meetings in the past because I was too tired from work to take notes. When I listen to them now, I cringe so hard that I turn it off immediately. What with grown males sitting to gossip and tell on publishers behind their backs, and the sentences handed down that changed the lives of other ordinary humans and their families.

I was told growing up that if an elder is doing something wrong and not being a good JW, it will show in the spirit of the congregation. I bring this up because in the last elder meeting with a CO I was in (and this guy was a real hard ass about everything) he told us that we were doing great, he had no recommendations for us to work on, and that the spirit was clearly hard at work in our hall. And I was a full apostate at that time. :)

Compulsory confession is not necessary to men!! only to Jesus who is our mediator. First of all I simply love, love, love the name of your channel. So fitting.
About this so called "elder judicial
committe." I am, a former JW. ONE OF THE "LITTLE" people. The rank 'n file class. Once, I was summoned to meet with the (elders) when I was a 16 year old child . This was on account of the angry, jealous , gossip of one of the busy body sisters in the congregation.
It was me against a circuit overseer and two local elders. Those people emotionally raped the mess out of me. They tried to get me to admit something that I never did. This made them angry because they couldnt trip me up. Sound familiar? So they stripped me of every ounce of dignity they could. I even received a new name.,GIRLY, was what the CO called me, the whole time.
Long story as short as I can get it.
This taught me never to trust those men no matter what I may have done. It even made me despise my own mother who adored and worshiped them all.. She sent me in all alone to face those men. I was still a virgin girl. What this does to a person mentally is, it demoralizes the entire person , it causes sexual and adult disfunctionality for the rest of your life. It causes low self worth. And you never overcome those feelings of worthlessness. Im seventy years old and I've never fully overcame these feelings. I've struggled with hopelessness with the opposite sex all my life.
I truly believe those people are going to pay for the evil that they have perpetrated upon innocent lovers of God. People who's only mistake was to want to serve God and they exploited it.I just hope I'm around to witness their demise. And they will fall hard because I truly believe that they are BABYLON THE GREAT. I always knew there was another side of the story. I knew if I could just find the courage to seek for it and find out what the other side was saying, I could discern the truth, no matter what it was. I could detach myself from them, become free ,save my life.Ten years ago, I found it. Im still not whole. I dont think I'll ever be but I'm a heck of a lot better off than I was...Thank you for using your freedom to help others. No descent elder would stay in that demonic club. All the sincere ones left.

The fact that the kid came forth and confessed is an incredible indication that he was repentant. If Holy Spirit was present with the JW organization they wouldn't need "new light" because God doesn't get things wrong in the first place.

Thank you for sharing that experience . I’m presently enrolled in a course to work with the elderly in Long Term Care facilities, we just dealt with patients who have dementia, of which Alzheimer’s is under that umbrella of cognitive disabilities. That brother should not have been involved in such decisions involving this young man! Absolutely not! It doesn’t surprise me though, however, it saddens me, everything about that kangaroo court saddens me 😢. A woman by the name of Teepa Snow, gives a good idea of how it is to deal with people who have those disabilities on RUclips, it’s worth your time. Master Class in my opinion!

What I observed when I was growing up is that most of the elders drove nice cars and were “popular”. Most were complete narcissists. It’s was such a popularity contest. My mom would belittle my dad because he never became an elder. It’s such BS.

It can't be good for elders who already have a lot of power inside the congregation to think that the decisions they take are "divinely inspired". In such positions of power, it becomes more and more difficult to change the way you see the world.

Christians are not supposed have Judicial committees.
It is a man made system of control.
      Not from the Bible.
In ancient Israel when they had trials it was open at the city gate every one could attend.
Secret meetings judging people are illegal.
Remember Jesus was brought into a secret illegal meeting and condemned before the meeting even started.
That's what happeneds with JW's judicial meetings.

I was a grown ass married woman and confessed to three elders I did not know because I had been inactive for over a year. There was no spirit of the law. Thank you for sharing!!! I can also attest to your idea of “holly spirit” directing (or rather, not directing) this cult. You are absolutely right when you say that this is an organization “directed” by men; absolutely 1000% correct. And there is where the danger lays, men in positions of power, who, in most cases, lack the emotional intelligence, the critical thinking skills to render an objective judgment. These guys are blinded by the arrogance, and power, that have been given to them which otherwise could have never gotten. Mind you, we are talking about a developed country, imagine what is like in underdeveloped ones, like Mexico and Central America where the education level is sooo low in the majority of the population. I spent most of my life as a JW in Spanish congregations in Mexico and the in the USA, eventually I moved to an English congregation and I immediately saw the difference. The vast majority of the elders I interacted in Spanish congregations were either uneducated or barely educated. Many could barely write and read, or they learned to write and read in the organization. Many learned to developed their thinking ability skills, to some extent, in the organization, of course, always within the watchtower realm. The results have been, very powerful men with very close minds and very limited emotional intelligence and critical thinking skills; a VERY DANGEROUS COMBINATION!!!

As a former witness, and now dedicated follower of Christ, my vision is clear and hindsight is 2020. This organization is not directed by the Holy Spirit, but by self-righteous narcissistic businessman at Bethel. People are brainwashed to trust in the views of imperfect man, rather than what the word of God says. The blind leading the blind. My father is still an elder, and unfortunately I’m losing hope that he will ever see it for what it is. It is his identity. He’s invested majority majority of his life in this organization. Freedom, true freedom comes from intimacy with Christ. There is nothing that can compare to it. And I thank christ Jesus for leading me to the real truth. He is the truth. First of all, dope sweater bro. Second of all, I can’t believe how much fear the elders instilled in me during the time of my reproof and my judicial meeting. It was like being on death row awaiting sentencing (like you mentioned at 7:03). I was 25 when I had my judicial and I was in the hot seat and it was hell. I literally took 3 shots of vodka (at my 9am meeting) just to calm me down because I was so terrified of what my fate would be. Looking back I feel like a moron for sitting there and letting them scare me with their tactics. No one should have to go through that level of “interrogation” all because of having sex. How about judicials for child molesters and victims of domestic violence? Oh wait I forgot, the “two-witness” rule 🙄.

    • @annabizaro-doo-dah
      @annabizaro-doo-dah 3 года назад +5

Ive never been an elder of course;)but I think the first step might be to find out what's most important to him. I think the reason he's an elder would play into how you'd go about waking him up. As TIP was saying, if it's an ego thing it might be hard, but if it's because he genuinely want to help people it may work to find instances of cruelty & unfairness where holy spirit is definitely not present. Perhaps he does it for your mother...to make her proud, or to be "in" with his pals? Find out why HE says he's one. What's most important to him about being JW, too. Not the standard answers they give but the real reasons he does what he does. Just my humble guess. Good luck!

I would not attempt to “wake him up”. I personally don’t think that it’s my responsibility to persuade people one way or another; maybe because that’s how I lived my whole life as a JW, always thinking what was the best technique or method of persuasion; I dispice that way of thinking. I’ve been inactive for two years and my wife and daughter are still very active; I leave them alone, they leave me alone and we’re a happy family 😁😁😁

I had to sit in front of 3 men and discuss in full detail what an unbeliever and I did sexually. It wasn’t enough that I came forward to them on my own! That was hard enough. It was degrading and humiliating. It didn’t seem right. I still got talked too so harshly and I left in tears. They also talked to me like I was 15 and not at all a fellow ADULT in the congregation!) One of the brothers on the judicial committee personally didn’t like me as it was (A very well known arrogant very in your face harsh brother on the committee) There was no loving voice whatsoever. It seemed so inappropriate. Would Jesus be so harsh on top of needing to know the sexual details performed by two people? When I told a sister how this made me feel all she did was water it down and say “well maybe because you were not underage they didn’t think you’d feel uncomfortable sharing those details. Also they may not had realized how harsh they were being to you. Remember they’re imperfect men.”
I felt like she completely excused them! I think our phones should be allowed in there to record these meetings because in the end it’s our word against theirs in how the meetings were handled. I think more people would believe me if I had it all recorded and the disgusting questions they asked and the extremely harsh tone one of the brothers used toward me. I was physically ill after that meeting. I didn’t leave the bed for a week. I never felt so shamed in my whole life than by that brother almost shouting at me and sharing sexual details. I really don’t think that’s how God wants it done???

If the Holy Spirit is running the meeting, why do there have to be three elders present? Does the Holy Spirit need a tie-breaker with itself?
Now that we’re on the subject of the Holy Spirit; why didn’t it leap in and keep the kid from fornicating in the first place? Is the Spirit impotent when the kid is not? The flesh is willing, so the Spirit is weak?

Regarding Revelation 1:16-20, the WT claims that the 7 stars in Jesus' right hand symbolize the elders in the congregations today, and that he (Jesus) has complete control over elders' decisions so as to ensure the flock is guided, treated and judged in a loving way.
So, in a judicial committee, either these elders ignore Jesus' direction or the direction from heaven is indeed corrupted.
    Answer: both.
You just need to read the Bible with an open mind and you will see how corrupt, cruel and animalistic its principles are -- just like its author.
