Who cares if he knows or doesn't know anything about the country of his parents birth, its not like the information isn't out there to go and find if he wanted to know, or could even ask his parents. Also its literally just about he doesn't know where it is on a map, if he really wanted to know he would have already known the answer so maybe he doesn't care where it is in Africa.
