@@TJ-ev5uw I've had my GE76 for over 2 years now. The over heating issue is easily fixed. Just remove the old Thermal Paste and replace it with Noctua NT-H2 3.5g and it will run like a dream. My new Temps went from "Burning my fingers on the WASD buttons" - to sitting steady at 38°C when playing heavy games like Borderlands 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. So no more heating issues. Other smaller issues disappeared as well, likely caused by the previous overheating.

I enjoy doing World of Tanks as it kind of scratches that Military, hanging out with the guys, itch. I wanted all SSD, speed and good cooling. This machine looks like a winner over my Dell G7 Alienware. Not really into all the led lights and other gizmos but this MSI looks really nice. I have this laptop (i7 with 3060), which I paid a flat $2k for, and I've had it for almost 9 months now and I love it. The keyboard is great for start, but I would recommend getting a separate keyboard to use with this keyboard. The keyboard quality is not the best as one of the keycaps has broken for me. I love the speakers, the 144hz, and I have had little to no problem running AAA games on high graphics. It does get hot on low fan speeds, but it does have the option to increase the fan speed which can get loud but does help with the temperature. In all I would definitely recommend this laptop for anyone looking for a great performing laptop with long battery life, a great display with fast refresh rate, and insane performance.

Justin my man. This video has some major improvements edit wise. Loved the intro, and as always you were very thorough in your review. This laptop has definitely jumped to the top of my list. I’ve also heard good things about the Alienware m17 r5 for thermals, so I’ll be interested to see your full review of that as well. The only negative thing about it is the MSI specific software updates are annoying and often uninstall themselves before reinstalling and updating. Btw only garbage non optimized games like Diablo 2 Resurrected will get this thing hot to the point where you start getting uncomfortable with the temps.

Not really a point in commenting on a 2 year old video but there were some very overlooked drawbacks as I've had mine for a full 2 years. First a design flaw in the hinges as they are made of plastic and are very prone to breaking at random points of ware and use. Actually I replaced my hinges once already and am having to replace them again. Second the a Thermals were good in the beginning but my laptop is very prone to overheating, which causes random system fails and reboots through use. Some times it works all day without issue and sometimes I can't get it to boot at all. Lastly the SSD and internals are not the same throughout. My brother and I each bought one with the prospect of easy gaming but when we both had that hinge fail we were suprised to open them and find that a lot of the components (SSD included) were sourced from a number of random brands. Which leads me to the last nail in my laptops coffin, SSD failure(early signs). It may be weird but I didn't notice till now that when I open task manager the disk is running at near 90 percent all the time. I have only ever used this computer for steam gaming and my only games are Dark Souls 3 and Forza Horizon 5. Safe to assume the SSD has shat itself. I might look into other options but MSI is not what it seems.

Is it normal for the chassis area right above the notebook's keyboard with the MSI logo on it (NOT the screen panel), but the base to get extremely hot--even where it might burn you if you touch it for too long? (And yes, I am running a game--and I expect it to run hot, but not hot enough to injure me while using my notebook.) The notebook is running hot enough to cook my breakfast.

I agree with you COMPMETELY. Thinness in a gaming laptop DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE. I mean if they have a cooling system that can handle the heat at that thinness, sure, but many companies limit the TGP to just make the laptop thin and that get's on my nerves too.

You and MashIT are killing it. Subscribed. This machine suffers from the same problem as the GT77: the materials used feel and look B-grade and looks unfinished when you compare it to the X17 R2. One good example is the power brick on this and GT77 is this large box that doesnt look like it belongs to the laptop, while the X17 has this nice round and small power brick. Yes, this os faster, but how it look and feels is just as impressive. This has the specs and speed but looks terrible. And no Windows is a deal-breaker.

The review was really good, but since you don't have the ability to use it for a year or two before revewing it I thought I would add my experience :)
I bought an older configuration from Costco. I don't think you can beat the specs to price ratio (and you definitely couldn't in 2020) but it didn't take very long for it to start having some weird stability issues (couple years). I ended up selling it to a guy who already had one and his had overheating issues. In general, I wouldn't suggest buying a gaming laptop hoping it will last a long time, but especially not this one.

I'm torn between this and the smaller GE 67 with the OLED display. Is it worth going with the smaller, better screen or the 17" IPS with more realestate? Would love to hear about the updated "HX" series, as well as the Titan that's just announced.

I bought MSI GE76 Raider 2 years ago after a detailed research for best gaming laptop at a reasonable price. Eventhough, MSI GE76 Raider is in the high price range, I decided to invest. 2 years later, I feel like I threw my money in the bin... Constant overheating issues, even when I am browsing = performance issues and all the pleasure is gone. The right hinge just cracked while I was opening my laptop one day, out of the blue... (This laptop was never being droped or anything and always was used with good care). I just cannot describe my dissapointment... I would never ever give my money for a gaming laptop ever again. All are crap! The only reason I did it 2 years ago is beacuse I don't have enough space for desk setup.

I have the 11th Gen model with an i9 and 3080 to replace my desktop since I joined the military. Been an amazing machine, and it can still push frames to my 3440x1440 monitor when I'm at my desk.
