Half of these bands were already on upward trajectories. Van Halen, for example. Same with AC/DC. All were rising in popularity. Or in other cases like Dream Theater or Slipknot, the band was literally at its starting point before they even began to experience any success.
Van Halen had its two top selling albums with Roth. So Hagar kept the ball rolling but they made more money with Roth period. Not sure how that’s more successful but that’s watchmojo for ya
That's not Syd Barrett, thats Richard Wright. Also that clip of Us and Them isnt from live at Pompeii. Also Dave Gilmour shares vocalist duties with Roger Waters and Richard Wright to a lesser extent.
Actually, for no.14, Justin Hayward replaced Denny Laine, John Lodge replaced Clint Warwick who left the band to have a regular job and take care of his family. So thanks for forgetting to mention Clint Warwick.
Duran Duran's lineup is simple. They have three members with the last name Taylor, none of them are related, and their drummer has the same name as Queen's drummer.
Sorry but Bon was the better singer and songwriter than Brian. Bon was such a story teller that Brian couldn't match. Highway to Hell was their big break until Bon's untimely death seven months later.
To an extent it can be said that Frank Zappa gained in popularity every time he switched lead singers: Ray Collins/Lowell George (briefly)/Flo and Eddie/Napoleon Murphy Brock/the Ray White and Lady Bianca team / the Frank, Adrian and Bozzio team / Ike Willis / reaching visibility peak with Ike and Ray W (plus one of those two Bobs, and maybe even a Keneally)

@ That was the first reason I thought it might have been left off the list as well. But then again, Van Halen would kinda be comparable…….hugely popular before and after…….and weren’t they on this list ? I’m so confused lol.🤔🤣
Iron Maiden was better with Bruce Dickerson!
VH did better because they headed more pop rock. I prefer Sammy when he was either on his own, with songs like "Red" or "Heavy Metal" or even with Montrose. I think VH 1 was their best album. so I prefer DLR.
@@jerrybeard8995 I would go with fair warning as my favorite album but I love them both equally.
Cannibal Corpse definitely needs a mention here. The shift from Chris Barnes to George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher is brutal and explosive and has lead to this massive fan following🤘🤘🤘🤘
Talks about David Gilmour.
Shows Rick Wright singing "Echoes".
What does Corey Taylor think?
I love Faith No More and have all these albums.. ❤Mike Patton ❤ I LOVE but the We Care a lot album is good too. Rip to Chuck Mosley.. he definitely kicked it off.
George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher replaces Chris Barnes in Cannibal Corpse
I would also add Pepper Kennan with Corrosion of Conformity, George Fisher with Cannibal Corpse, and Barney Greenway with Napalm Death.
I prefer Joy Division over New Order.
Midge Ure replaces John Foxx in Ultravox
Yep. Love both.xx
David Lee Roth all the way!
Dishonorable mention: Black Sabbath replacing Ozzy with Dio... Dio did SO MUCH BETTER on his own after leaving Sabbath. 🤘
Now in the 2020's musical groups don't even exist anymore. Not in the top 100 anyway.
Why do you show shots of Richard Wright while speaking about Syd Barrett?
It makes my heart so happy that they played Ride the Sky, and I Want Out. Helloween was Iron Maidens powermetal descendents. Gamma Ray was bad ass too.
David Clayton-Thomas had an amazing bluesy voice, two incredible BS&T albums
George corpsegrinder fisher replaced Chris barnes in cannibal corpse
Chester bennington replaced Mark Wakefield in linkin Park
I am so happy Black Sabbath wasn't put on this list....
Richard Wright isn’t Syd Barrett WatchMojo
So you guys just completely forgot to mention Roger waters impact on Pink Floyd as well huh?
That's not what this video was about. Waters didn't replace Barrett; Gilmour replaced Barrett.
Yea but waters replaced gilmour. And he’s arguably better to some people. Definitely not me. But he has loyal following with them and made a couple killer records.
@@vermillionthree Wait--what? Waters replaced Gilmour? _The Piper at the Gates of Dawn_ (their first) is the only Pink Floyd album that doesn't have Gilmour on it.
@@mournblade1066 you are correct, but David did replace him as lead singer. Waters wrote for Pink Floyd but David sang. He still replaced him as the lead singer, and waters eventually replaced him.
What about Mitch Lucker from suicide Silence? He’s after Tanner Womack and before Eddie Hermida.
Shoutout to Deep Purple's Rod Evans for moving on to create the only hidden gem I discovered in my father's 150+ LP collection when digitizing it last year: Captain Beyond's self-titled debut album...
Couldn't name a Deep Purple song if prompted, but the entire A-side of that Captain Beyond album? It's cemented itself into my brain...
Johnson replacing Scott just seemed so natural.
Cannibal Corpse replacing Chris Barnes with George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher
Corpsegrinder replaces Chris Barnes
Half of these bands were already on upward trajectories. Van Halen, for example. Same with AC/DC. All were rising in popularity. Or in other cases like Dream Theater or Slipknot, the band was literally at its starting point before they even began to experience any success.
There is also George " Corpsegrinder " Fisher replacing Chris Barnes of Cannibal Corpse
Van Halen had its two top selling albums with Roth. So Hagar kept the ball rolling but they made more money with Roth period. Not sure how that’s more successful but that’s watchmojo for ya
@@Spooky_515 fair warning is easily their best album imo.
Huge Dream Theater fan. Bit of a correction: Their original band name was going to be Majesty, not Majestic.
That's not Syd Barrett, thats Richard Wright. Also that clip of Us and Them isnt from live at Pompeii. Also Dave Gilmour shares vocalist duties with Roger Waters and Richard Wright to a lesser extent.
Bands that won't be on this list.... Linkin Park
REO Speedwagon is a good one too…
Actually, for no.14, Justin Hayward replaced Denny Laine, John Lodge replaced Clint Warwick who left the band to have a regular job and take care of his family. So thanks for forgetting to mention Clint Warwick.
Duran Duran's lineup is simple. They have three members with the last name Taylor, none of them are related, and their drummer has the same name as Queen's drummer.
Van Halen “1” and 1984 are Van Halen’s two top selling albums.
@@MichaelMarquez-m3b but fair warning is their best imo.
Robert Smith replaces Peter O'Toole as lead singer of The Cure
Gimme VannHagar all day!
By the way, Dream Theater’s name was originally Majesty, not Majestic.
Ill give you Pink Floyd but I'd swap 2 and 3. I think ACDC it the most successful swap singer band, ever.
Michael McDonald - Doobie Brothers
Naw
Too much of a sellout
Honorable Mention: Will Ramos joining Lorna Shore has really catapulted them forward a lot
Andy Wood/Mother Love Bone to Eddie Vedder/Pearl Jam singer/band change up should have been in the list!
