Those ""musicians"" who say "rock is dead" are just giving an excuse to give up on their fans and quit.
Nothing dies if it continues to have the support it needs, a lot of things work that way.
Rock/Metal is not dead. Still has millions and millions of fans, sells out arenas, festivals, venues all around the world, still gets national mainstream attention. Not to mention rock/metal rules the underground more than any other genre. Etc etc etc.
Rock/Metal had higher sells than rap for 2018. Rap just gets millions of streams online..
Dillon Dean well I feel like you could say that for any genre nowadays. No genre is truly dead anymore because of the internet. Some genres are just less dormant than others. Rock is definitely not what it used to be and there needs to be something new or original done so that the genre can be better than ever.
@@michael_epp theres no such thing as a dead genre. There's still tons of originality but the mainstream keeps pushing rock/metal further back...therefore the music isn't gonna come to you...ya gotta find it. Look for it yourself. & the worst shit is played on the radio.

McHaazelnutz The idea is to experiment with other genres and create something new and different from what came before. In my opinion BMTH just jumped ship on the genre cause they weren’t making enough money and they knew if they went more pop they could. Again I’m not saying I’m right it’s just that every reason they gave for the change didn’t feel genuine it feels like they did it cause of the rise in popularity in pop/hip hop/ RnB . It’s kinda hard to explain but that’s how I felt
@@korn454 All the fans want is Sempiternal style era BMTH, but they abandoned all of their metalcore and most their metal in general completely in That's The Spirit, and mish mashed in a bunch of stuff from hip hop and other samples that didn't fit at all, and I didn't bother listening through the other half of it cuz I was like "The fuck is this shit?" The idea is to experiment, just for the sake of experimenting for no reason. They could have pleased most of the fans by making another album like TTS (still not me but most)
I'm not an avid BMTH fan, but seeing such a big band just letting go of their heavy metal title and turn into literal pop is so dumb lmao. I gotta give them a bit of credit though on the production aspect, I really like the production and sound of a few of the singles they released b4 the album dropped.
BMTH'S musical shift to more pop oriented has nothing to do with money, the album is one of their weirdest in a good way, amo is one awesome album, better than That's The Spirit, imo. Plus the album is reach really high charting positions, you americans ain't the only ones existing and listening to music, in the world. XD
@@joaorufino4952 well, compared to TTS it didn't do better really. AMO did debut at #1 in the UK vs TTS's #2 in the UK.
But it did terrible in the US. TTS debuted at #2 in the US but Amo debuted at #14. Waaayyyy worse.

About to see them play their last show on this first leg of the trauma tour in Detroit. Can anyone tell me why they dont play "Alone" anymore off their last album?? It was a huge hit, and their most successful song radio/charts. Really disappointed they no longer play this!! Love the hard stuff, but I do enjoy slowing it down for a song or two showing off other vocal capabilities. Any comments greatly appreciated!
I think mixing genres is cool as Hell. Bands like Hollywood Undead, Linkin Park, Papa Roach; they really blend hip hop and Metal/Rock damn well.
I Prevail is fucking great, and these first two tracks from their new album are BAD ASS!
Rock isn’t dead, just like how stuff like jazz and blues isn’t dead, people listen to stuff, different genres have their peaks, right now it’s hip hop stuff, who knows; one day rock could come back to being mainstream

Yes we need new things for modern rock. I agree to this thought. But hip-hop is different genre. Hip-hop is not new rock or punk genre. Only one thing same; musical thoughts. Both genre are protest music ever
I've been listening to I Prevail since 2016. and I saw them live shortly after, opening for Pierce the Veil with Neck Deep. I'm looking forward to this album.

Rebel Meets Rebel. When you say western, I assume you mean a mixture of country elements with metal music. It's called Southern metal. Some of Black Label Society's stuff can be considered Southern metal, and as I mentioned, Rebel Meets Rebel.

There are still some bands in the underground coming out with great and exciting rock music, but as a whole the genre is close to being dead. Ghost, Jack White, Parquet courts, Idles and others are some of the artists keeping the genre alive.
Rock isen't dead theres new rock songs on spotify quite often you just have to look for a bit, theres even bands that do glam rock which i absolutely love, give "The Struts" "young and dengorus" album a try its amazing and its from 2018!

Rock is NOT dead.....on the contrary it’s alive and well...but.....some genres are meh...
I think part of the perception that rock is dead, in the U.S. at least, is the 20 somethings on down. They, for the most part, grew up on today's rap music, hence never really listen to rock. My 13 year old nephew and all his friends don't know who Metallica is, so that's kinda telling.

Rock is dead as long as people keep ruining the integrity of the sound - both in voice and in the instruments used. I disagree about trying new things as opposed to improving on what is already great! Don’t do the country thing where you still look country, have country lyrics, and have that persona and then try adding in a rapping/hip-hop sound. There are people out there that like each genre for the way it sounds already. Trying to add in other types of fans should be up to people wanting to like the way you already sound without sacrificing your original integrity or the integrity of real rock. Your fans will like you because that’s what fans do. But when you are expecting metal/rock, that’s what you want. The addition of the rap crap just ruins things. Rock is dead if you have to add other genres to it. You are making things worse…not making it better. It won’t be considered rock if that’s the direction you think you need to go in. So sad that you can’t be creative otherwise. When I listened to “Scars” for example - the guitars are on point, the screaming is on point, but the voice is less than desirable for me. But I like a manly voice as opposed to a younger “boy” voice in my rock music. This is not meant to be an insult. I prefer voice styles like those from the front men in bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Five Finger Death Punch, Metallica, etc.
