Andy you amaze me how you take less time but effectively teach us all the tools. I was among those struggling with Illustrator as a beginner. Things seemed so difficult but after this video, Illustrator will be a good game for me. Andy, Thanks beyond measure.
It helps so much 8 months ago i learned adobe illustrator and logo fundamentals and started designing logos as a beginner i was good but i stopped for a long time and now i need a refresh, this video is a lifesaver with no single second wasted , straight to the point really thank you ❤️❤️
Andy! This was BY FAR the most thorough, yet brief, video I've ever seen that detailed all of the Illustrator's tools. Not only did you give a quick synopsis of each and every tool, but you also demonstrated them! I only wish I had the time to sit and practice each one while I was watching your video and working on a project. I definitely plan to come back and rewatch when I have time to practice each tool. Not to mention this BONUS! You appealed to those of us with terribly unrestrained ADHD who have a difficult time sticking with any influencer who rambles and "wings it" because once they stumble, change topics, and/or backtrack more than a couple times, my brain wanders to something else. Next thing ya know, it's three autoplays later, and I have no idea what their video was really about, nor the three that followed.
@@AndyTellsThings 💜 You're so very welcome! People need to hear the things they do well sometimes, especially in this age with all the griping and complaining that many people prefer to comment instead of the nice things. ☺ I just try to sprinkle a little sunshine every now and then!
Thank you, you explain so nicely.. Your voice is easy on the ears. I thought I would just listen to 5 minutes before I started, but I got it going till the end. Thank you so much, this helps soo much!
So true, even my teacher said only some of the tools: Selection tools, Pen tool, Anchor point tool, Add & Delete anchor point tool, Eyedropper tool, Ellipse/Rectangle/Rounded rectangle/Polygon/Star tool are used for select & resize/reshape objects, basic drawing, adjust the anchor points, add & delete anchor points, fill colour & creating different shapes The rest of the tools are just extra/additional tools for professional graphic designers
This really helped me since I am a beginner with this software. First time I opened Illustrator I found it difficult but this helped me see applications of every tool quickly. Thank you!
Decided to learn more about illustrator and I'm glad I found this channel! Short, simple and compact with information, absolute attention worthy. I'm going to use this as reference each time I want to practice it! Thank you so much Andy.
excellent video impressive, how much you packed into 18 minutes i've dabbled in illustrator a fair bit and have the basics down but there are tools here i didn't even know existed many thanks; subbed
I had no idea illustrator had so many tools!! Your tutorials are so much better than the college classes I’ve had. They barely taught us the basics and then threw a ton of projects at us 😑
Dude that was insane, my brain is exploding with new info, i have use illustrator a little be here and there for year but i never knew how many tools existed. Too many choices to do the Same thing.
Thank you so much Mr Andy. Your explanation was to the point, swift and inspired me to start Adobe Illustrator in a proper and cool way. Learning should be fun. Thank you again. GODSPEED. ⚡⚡Arigato Andy San 🙏🙏

Hey Andy! Kelsey with the Adobe Creative Cloud team- just popping in to say AMAZNG tutorial! Very informative and such a great walk through of Illustrator 🤞
Andy, write & publish a book on using illustrator with good example projects and it will sell. I'll make the first purchase! You're good at what you do.
Thanks for the video, it's really helpful. While watching it, I was also writing down, in my list there are 78 tools, but at the end it said 87 tools. I will check it again isn't it a slightly troll at the end of video
There are 87 individual tools in Illustrator, but the video has 79 "parts", because some tools have been grouped, like the Graph Tools (hence why I said "all the graph tools work the same way, so I’m going to explain them all together). If I didn't do this, the video would be too repetitive, because they really do work all the same way.
wow Amazing Job. Thank you so much. This tutorial was great. Your descriptions were so helpful. The pace made it easy to follow thanks for not rushing.
@0:46 you don't need a dedicated shortcut for the group selection tool, it is activated temporarily by holding down the Command key while the regular selection tool (the black arrow) is active (sorry, I don't know the Windows key for this).
When you hold down Ctrl/Cmd using the Selection Tool you're actually selecting the Direct Selection Tool, the white cursor, and not the Group Selection Tool. While the Direct Selection Tool can select objects on a group, it's a different tool and has a few limitations (for example, if the object inside the group doesn't have a fill color, only stroke, you won't be able to seelect the object in its entirety, as the direct selection will only select a specific path or anchor point). In fact, with almost any tool in Illustrator, holding down Ctrl/Cmd selects the Direct Selection Tool, with the only exclusion being the Direct Selection Tool itself, which will select the Selection Tool instead.
@@AndyTellsThings Indeed, I made a mistake. Turned out it was a bit more complicated than that. Holding down the Command key temporarily selects the last selection tool used other than the current one. For the Selection tool, by default, it is the Direct Selection tool (the white arrow). But if it was the Group Selection tool (the white arrow with a plus), then it would be this tool instead. Anyway, to always select the Group Selection tool while the Selection tool is active, no matter which tool was used before, you need to hold down the Command and the Option keys together.
Gamechanger. Thanks for teaching the language of the program. Coming from a similar, but less complex art program, this would have saved me a lot of frustration had I started her before I tried AI the first time.
