Hi Bill, indeed, it was a revelation for me, thank for the mention.I do hone slightly differently from Jarrod. He holds the razor still and move the block, to me it was easier doing the opposite.. in the end the results would be the same.. That's a gorgeous blade you got there and really look forward to the honing video. All the best /Johan
@@RobertPascale Thank you. I am not sure where the “way too many razors” category starts, but I am a little more selective these days and still wind up getting a couple a year.
Holler at me tomorrow if you are interested in this.. I will send you pictures of how and what i use for hot towels. I use two insulated sealed water flasks. You have to use a certain size towel. Its more like a hand towel i can measure it, but you got to roll them up a certain way so they'll fit. Anyways after you roll them run under cold water and ring it out (leave some moisture dont wring it all the way out, but not dripping wet) Put both towels rolled up in microwave for 3:10 then just simple put towels one in each flask rolled up and seal it and you'll have a hot towel whenever you get ready to apply it😊. Oh if you only use one towel you would heat it for less time. I would have to heat (to know how long to heat one) one to see what temp is comfortable.
Those pots are fired at 1500' in the furnace....it can take the heat and the microwave, no issues .....so said a potter to me when I asked if they are microwaveable. You just had to buy the bigger one lol. The satin finish makes the scuttle nice and grippy too. Enjoy Bill.
@@josheyres2839 Thanks for tuning in. Unfortunately there are not vast resources for convex honing, sharpening and stropping gear. I make my own, some shaped using the shaping plate obtained from The Superior Shave and some that is done more freehanded. Since I publicly promote the methods I like and use as a hobby, I chose to remain unencumbered by entering into any commercial arrangements.
I bought a dovo coticule set and two cheaper razors to practice on. Found it difficult to get an edge i liked. So, after seeing your curve honing, I rounded the small coticule one direction only, and what it meant was i got my edge all along the razor very quickly and was sharp.

That’s a nice looking lather, I can only imagine how good that hot lather felt Bill! I’ve been playing with convexing naniwa naguras and using that, I think I enjoy that method more especially for the #6 wheel but for the #25 wheel I enjoy more using the normal size stone. Great shave and talk my friend 🤘🏻
@@seanstapelfeld the diamond lapping films specified are a pretty coarse grits 30 & 15 microns (not sure what grit scale but they are listed as 600 & 1250)which makes them work fast, plus the shape is always constant. Great shave. I’ve been face lathering here lately but brought the scuttle out for this colder weather. Thank you.

I agree with you. The convex honing is a game changer for the shave feel. Nice shave Bill!
@@lawrence1md I am sure you can tell it is my preference. Thanks for watching Matthew.
@ I think most people are too hesitant to try it. Especially if they have to convex one of their stones. I’m glad I took that leap
