Castlevania - Forging The Morning Star of Trever Belmont

  • In this video we forge the Morning Star from Castlevania Anime. This chain whip or flail is used in the 80's video game and starts out as a standard whip that gets upgraded as you go and the end result is the morning star. In the Netflix anime Castlevania Trever Belmont finds the morning star behind a bookcase already in it's final form. That is the item that we chose to make. First by forging the flanges and then by grinding and polishing them and putting them together by mig welding and blending. This build has everything from blacksmithing to bladesmithing, fabrication and stock removal techniques. We even blow stuff up at the end! Vampires and monsters beware. We are ready to hunt! Even Alucard would be jealous of this morning star !

      I love your work!
Anyway, speaking about flails/whips: Do you guys think such a weapon could be practical? I actually wonder, If you got the task to design such a weapon, how would it look like to be practicable and not self injuring for the weilder. While the Belmont whip looks great, I belive it has a massive potential to hut the weilder as well.

@@Hydracat404 You're correct all chained weapons have the high potential to hurt and even kill it's wielder if not properly used, but in combat one whom has practice for years and doesn't mind or doesn't have fear against the weapon getting cut or hit by accident could use this weapon very well, there are even entire martial arts on the use of chain weapons, but even in skilled hands it is deadly to both, But also makes a great weapon for the unskilled for just that very reason, as it doesn't take much for it to be deadly, military and knights and other combat cultures adopted it for that reason. Because farmers whom had enough with their rulers would often use anything that they could as weapons, from the grain sycle and sythe to even the broomstick and walking cane. I love martial arts and often see what I can use even around the farm as a weapon...anything almost anything can be a weapon if you get creative enough. Doesn't take much to wound or kill someone....now stopping them thats another game entirely as its extremely hard to stop a person went they truly don't want to be stopped. This type of weapon was designed for just that, to break the enemy and put fear in comrades of said enemy. Because they're heavyweight moving iron bits of death. LoL.

The work and effort the guys are putting in is second to none, but don't forget that Tony from the early episodes had a movie/Hollywood background where looks come over functionality and also production speed is of essence. But the one episode I remember Tony putting some real blacksmithing in was Gimlis axe.

I mean, the earlier Man at Arms episodes were from a different workshop (Sword and Stone, led by Tony Swatton) than Baltimore Knife and Sword that we all know today. The crew we know today had no involvement with what Tony and co did for the earlier episodes (except Matt since he has appeared to assist a couple times)

I'd love to see you build the power rangers dragon dagger. I'd be really impressed if it was also a functioning flute.

One that functions like a flute, but is also a legit dagger would be awesome indeed

I'm watching this after seeing the fourth and final season of Castlevania; easily the greatest video game adaptation of all time, and second place isn't even in the same ballpark . . . or continent. Anyway, this weapon is massively impractical, but it's really entertaining to see how skilled Trevor really is with it, and all the different ways in which he dispatches his enemies --- he never seems to use it the same way twice. I think one of my favorite scenes is where he let it wrap around a tree-branch that he was standing on, as it effortlessly dispatched the skeletons that he was fighting.

Holy shit. I thought you guys wouldn't bother with a demo since it would be pretty impractical to use if not dangerous to your staff. But NOT ONLY did you demo it, you actually impressed me with some of the tricks you did and the destructive capabilities of it. And then you did it again but ON FIRE! The dedication is overwhelming!
