I’ve owned an Eagle Claw telescopic rod called the pack it for several years for trout fishing. It’s an inexpensive spinning rod that handles really really well. In the time I’ve owned it , it’s never given me an ounce of problem, no breaks and no malfunctions. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup ruclips.net/user/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

Before watching this video I had been doing a lot of research on telescopic rods. I felt like it wasnt worth my time and that they all looked like cheap garbage made for amateurs. After watching this video I realized there are quality telescopic rods out there and that the technology has gone forward quite a bit. This is the best video about telescopic rods that I've come across. Informative, straight to the point and clear. Thank you

Hey BCSG.. great video... you opened up a whole new world of rods for me.
You perfectly explained in the beginning of the video why people stay away from telescopic rods... I stayed away from telescopic rods because of the fact that I have NEVER seen a quality telescopic rod.
I was not able to get my hands on BBB or Molla buuuuut.. I found a new 2018 Abu Garcia Hornet Stinger Plus(baitcasting version). It has only 7 guides but looks like a quality rod. Will update this comment when I get some time on the water with it.
Anyway, just wanted to say Thanks for your great videos.

@@dannyb3177 I got the Sharky III 1000 & 5000, and I was going for Rods I couldn't break easy and be Cheap. I got a Brutas Rod, Solid and good for Braid, however selection sucked and its a bit heavy for my Sharky 1000, being rated 6 - 15 mono, while y 1000 is 6-10, however its also a Back up if I break my 8ft Inshore Blackhawk II, which does not seem that great for Braid. I also want a Sharky III 3000, a better matching Pole for my 1000 (a lighter pole), and something tougher to replace my Blackhawk II, and have my BlackHawk II as my Travel Inshore Pole, but Selection is getting tight, and probably will be tighter next spring and summer, buy all your equipment now and some spares, because Meat Prices are going to go up, as with Fishing Equipment Prices, and with the coming prospect of going to an over crowed super market during another out break this winter, for a crappy over priced meat selection with limits, or fishing, you know you want to be fishing...

Just purchased an Okuma Voyager Select, collapsable spinning rod. Very impressed with the construction and quality. It is 6' long, with two floating eyes, and handles 1/16 to 1/2 oz lures. 4-12 lb line. I took it out and found it fished much like a regular, decent quality rod. I m able to cast nightcrawlers with no added weight, to reasonable distances. It certainly appears above the quality of all the other collapsable rods I have seen out there. Not sure it it was available when this video was made. It is certainly much quicker to set up and take down than conventional rods - Easy to leave strung, and to collapse/extend. So far, I have stopped my search.

yeah I had a $100 rod snap on me as I set the hook.. it was the first day using it. I also have a amazon "LEO" rod that is heavy and very stiff, I've used it often on windy days when I need to throw weight, it costed $15 and but I don't have to worry about it breaking because it's $15 but also I've used it for over 5 years and have little to no problems. both spinning rods. the only problem with the $15 one is that it's ugly heavy and the rings are really cheap brass but very easy repairable.

He Kept calling it the China (Chi-na!) Rod, lol... Yeah it's made in China because our Fearless Leaders decided to build up our Enemy. Why? Because they want a Good Old Fight that's why, oh, our Evil Fearless Leaders... But any who, it's really an American Rod we have made in Chi-na! and Produce Products with near the Quality of the Best Products in the World for as low as 1/4 the price! The Fact is I am not spending $200 on a Rod (unless I am catching Sharks and Tuna and its a Beast from the North East!), because at that point for $400 for a Rod and Real, I'd just buy a sweet net and stuff and submit a plan of where I would put up my Smelt Net! and things like that. I got a Sharky III 1000 & 5000 on a Brutus and Blackhawk II (8ft Inshore), and the Fact is the Sharky III is a Hell of a Reel, its KISS system from Water Protection is what really sets it apart in its price Range, and the thing is normally I do not go fishing enough, so I can have a Reel for a While, particularly with the water seals on the Sharky III, but I just moved over to Maine like 9 months ago, from the worst fishing area in NH almost, so I think I'll be going fishing more, I am like 25 minutes from the coast (to places you can fish, but 20 minutes from on of those new Destroyers) and like 15 minutes from Bays, and 1 mile if even from the widest part of a River with an Island in the Middle that is a fair sized park, so I think I am Def going to get some fishing in, like its going to be my plan to eat some days (I have 6+ months of food), but really my get the f out of the house to do something and breath fresh air plan.

I had the Blackhawk 2. Nice rod fo the money, particularly relative to telescopic baitcast competition at that price point, but all the action was in the last 8" in a flexible fiberglass tip, which broke in 2 weeks. I replaced it with the Daiwa Blazon Mobile (which I think is the new Mobile Pack) 6106MBT, which was twice the cost but ten times the rod. Absolutely love that rod. Pulled in a PB bass with it yesterday.

Really love my Eagle Claw telescopic rods. I prob have a dozen. For over a decade people I fish with have told me they will break...still waiting, lol.
I have a very expensive Ab7 baitcaster on one...many other Abu's in others, spin casting reels (zecbo 33 micros) for light line...and even a spinning reel...although I do not prefer to use an open face, rather use a spin cast...just me.
I own a lot of travel fly rods too...but assembling and breaking down each time is, as you said, wasted time to me. I just extend the rod and start fishing. I have a few if these in my backpack, 4 or more pre rigged in my boat...and I'm ready to go. Being over 50 and having caught more fish than most I talk to...i no longer care about what others think. And.. I actually like the action of a glass rod. I actually bought a few glass fly rods because I love the moderate action. It's an easier action for me.
Hope you enjoy your fishing! Great video.

Extremely thorough and enlightening video! I was still in the dark with telescoping rods.....as you mentioned thinking they were cheap toys. I am a huge fan of the US Daiwa Ardito 3 piece rod which I take when flying or backpacking. But, as you stated the ultra compact nature of these allows for better carrying options. I think you sold me on the BBB 6106 TMFB. As of this moment do you happen to know of any medium heavy models on the market? I see the one you mentioned as discontinued, and don't see any other options. Although....I only know of a handful of JDM fishing sites. Thanks again man. Great video and excellent channel!

The Kast King Blackhawk 2 allegedly uses Toray carbon, and if this is the case it's likely on-rating, and additionally, Toray doesn't really like to sell to companies it also doesn't consult to, so you can be somewhat sure that if it's Toray, it's also manufactured with some feedback on Toray on how to actually achieve the strength numbers it is engineered to meet.

YES totally agree with the rods that come in multiple pieces to me the main point is something convenient and quick to use and the same for all these ones that come in cases that you pretty much take everything apart to put it back in doesnt make sence 🤯🤔

I've ordered the Black Hawk because I have 3 of their Baitfeeder reels, which I like, and I'm entirely new to casting reels and rods. I'm not at all sure there are any suitable fish in the area I fish anyway, so it should be fine for me to experiment and play around with. If I do catch anything at all then I can figure out if I need better gear... But this is just for the rainy season anyway. Dry season I head for the sea in my proper boat :D

Whats your oppinion on small rods. I'm planning to buy a 3 foot rod. Because I think it will be easier to maneuver.
Edited: so hight does matter. I think it will be easier to maneuver because I'm 5'4, ordinary rods feel awkward. I'm more of a one handed kinda person also.

I recently received the diawa triple b and man that thing is awesome. I’ve caught probably 18 to 20 bass on it down in fla and couldn’t believe the strength and how light this rod is. Good rod for the money for sure. I do have the black hawk ll it works great and worth the money but nowhere near the class of the triple b. Price pint is definitely different and in my opinion you get what you pay for out of both rods.

lee on the back wheel it’s rated for 5 to 21 grams so you can cast up to 1/2 once I believe.

I suppose there aren't any telescopic rods suitable for saltwater fishing? Visiting Japan and can't really bring a full size rod back home in a suitcase, but it doesn't seem they make anything suitable for saltwater fishing? Jigging with weights up to 300g or so.

Jonathan Cantu I recently bought the Blackhawk 2 Telescopic rod. However, I cant fit my Shimano Metanium baitcasting reel. I think there is a defect. It sits very shakily and could drop anytime

I do not trust telescopic ladders, however I did not know they made fishing rods. So I would not die from the rod failing compared to a ladder, maybe this turns out good. inb4 the rods are fine.

Its great to use 20/30 lbs lines to hear ??? Read this !
I find that very heavy, fish 0.06 till 0.10 braid 6lbs till 15lbs
for Big Perch and Pikes on 6 / 24 gram 1.95 cm baitcastrod ML
Braid makes a lot off differens in mine opinion casting.
BFS talk always about rods the special bearings ( but what about lines ) Believe me ( Tip ) when I say guys try to use light braid b.v
J braid 0.06 till 0.10 mm and even on ml rod it cast pretty well.
I dont use special spool tuning bearing Bfs reel just Abu revo and my ml rod, and cast easy around 4 grams and less 20 / 30 yards and much more depending on the wind. Forget the 20 and 30 lbs mono and braid lines except if you dont need it. The Lines really matter !

This was very helpful. I have had a Zebco telescopic rod for about 30 years. I think I paid $10 for it, and it has never let me down. However, now I am planning a trip to Alaska for salmon, and my tiny Zebco is not up to the task. I plan to fly fish on the rivers for salmon, but I also want a telescopic spinning rod for surf fishing. Do you know who makes the most robust telescopic rod? I have not seen any that could handle a 40-50 pound King salmon.
