I just discovered Elina recently, very recently. I have been listening to Opera for almost 50 years and I cannot ever remember hearing anything like this woman. Her husband said she had an extremely flexible voice. For sure but that is an understatement. Her voice is as "free" as it is physically possible to be. She is in total control of everything she sings. Her trills are magnificent. The tempos are daringly fast at times and she executes them flawlessly. Usually someone who can do this is limited to very light singing roles. Yet she is capable of singing full voice without forcing. Moreover, she easily has dramatic, perhaps even Coloratura Soprano range but primarily sings Mezzo-soprano roles currently. These combinations are extremely unique, almost unheard of today. I would love to hear her sing Tosca as the lead. She has the musicianship and temperament as well as great acting ability to be stellar in that role. What we have here is perhaps the all-around finest female voice in the 21st century Operatic constellation. Bravo Elina Garanca! What an absolute treat to hear you perform.

What a wonderful musical couple, I didn't realise Karl was English. I think it was about this year they were married.
I suppose it must date from before Chichon en Garanča got married in 2006, otherwise Chichon would not call her 'miss Garanča'.
