Man they were so good. One of the best live rock performances ever. Everyone is on point this sounds just like the studio recording. Eddie throws the kitchen sink into this song. All kinds of great guitar tones. Makita drill, Wah pedal, flanger, and all of his usual guitar wizardry. Wow. VH forever. RIP Eddie

BETTER than the studio recording. All 4 of them were at the top of their game. Alex followed Eddie, and Eddie followed Alex. Even after Eddie and Alex threw down, Michael and Sammy had a lot of space to do what they did - and they followed the Van Halen brothers' lead perfectly, without stepping on them.
I wish I could have been there.

Fun fact: Edward played all the bass on Fair Warning. Sunset Sound recording channel check it out. Not ditching Micheal Anthony. He is great. But there's a distinct difference on "push comes to shove".. Mike was Always prominent in the mix.

    • @breauxcewayne1971

@@capnmo6718 I think he’s implying this album finally had the bass properly mixed. On 5150 and especially on OU812 the bass is almost nonexistent. Alex wasn’t happy with how the drums were mixed either. So they asked Alex what type of sound he was looking for and he said that big Bonham sound. So they got Andy Johns who was a producer for Zeppelin to produce the Carnal Knowledge album. That album had the drums and bass with plenty of bottom end to have that full sound. They sound a lot better here live than they did live on the OU812 tour. Theres pro shot recordings for the OU812 and Carnal Knowledge tour on youtube. Check them out and you’ll hear a huge difference in overall sound.

I'm leaning it was more like Flea's because of what's part of that long story. No joke.

I'd love to hear the pop you're listening to. Any pop group that can write songs like "The Seventh Seal," "Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do)," "Get Up," "Black and Blue," "Cabo Wabo," "Pound cake," "Judgement Day," etc., etc., etc. is a bloody amazing pop band in my book. Not to mention a hard rocking one.
DLR was A voice of Van Halen. Not THE voice. Eddie and Mike's backing vocals contributed as much to their vocal sound as Dave did. And DLR was a one-trick pony. His solo stuff sounds pretty much exactly the same as his stuff with Van Halen, but with a different guitarist that isn't Eddie. (Not that his guitarists weren't good, he played with some monsters - Vai, Becker, John 5, for example.) He did one thing, and did a pretty good job of it, but that's all. At least with Sammy they had some variety, for God's sake.

I know there's a bit of a debate about Sammy and Dave but in my opinion, Sammy always seems to "hit it". He sings better than Roth, whereas Roth is more about the "Showman" approach. Scatting and talking to the audience were his approach, especially in his live concerts.
And as others mention in the comments the band here is so in it, playing great and having fun. It is really too bad that the Van Halen brothers kicked out Sammy and eventually Michael Anthony. Because they were a mighty rock band that made other rock bands seem small in comparison.

    デイヴとのバンドも良いが、
    サミーとのバンドも最高だな😊
    デイヴとサミー、両方雇って、前後半で分けてライブやれば良かったのになぁ。

Imagine releasing a pop song today talking about your GF as pound cake. What 20 years does to a society.

Loved Ed's rig in this era...flipped the guitar and amp market on it's ear going with Peavey and Ernie Ball. EVERY guitar magazine had a story about it.

Examine Eddie's family history. Kids back then had black and white TV with 4 channels, maybe. No video games or tiktok. Kids had time to do stuff, spend all day fiddling with a guitar, and again the next day, and so on. If Eddie was kid today, chances are near zero he would ever be famous or accomplished. Enjoy these old videos because this is the end of it. Everybody is being dumbed down. You are easier to control if you don't know anything. Not so long ago it was illegal for slaves to go to school. Now schools have gender studies. History repeating itself.

Greatest live band ever. So glad I got to see them and experience the unbelievable talent of all 4 members of Van Halen in person. If you never saw them live in concert you can't imagine what you missed. Everybody knows Eddie Van Halen was the greatest guitar player in the world but because of this the other guys were often overlooked but they were all monsters at what they did. I miss Eddie so bad, but every member of Van Halen achieved immortality because they will live on forever through their music. Godspeed to the mighty Van Halen!!!

I think i’m still in shock that Eddie is gone. I remember buying their first album when i was in grammar school. I grew up listening to the DLR years, seen them live in 84. Like Rush and Neil being gone it’s like my youth is fading away

Van Halen, both Dave and Sammy are amazing! and course EDDIE the King...one of a kind... Anthony and Alex are both gifted too...This group probably the most exciting to watch when it comes to rock and roll...
