- Reviving My Algae-Infested Tank | Blue Reef Tank
It's been a while since I have been active on RUclips and I'm really sorry for that. Life has gotten in the way, but we are back on schedule!
In this video, I revealed what happened to my saltwater tank after going on a 1-month holiday. The tank was set up to be fully automated while I was away, and I was very shocked upon my return.

Welcome Back! So great to see your tank survived your month long holiday - you had us all worried!! So great to see Noodle - cute as ever!😍
This is a relief to see. I think everyone assumed you had a major crash because of how long before you posted a video. Glad your tank is well with minimal losses
Welcome back finally! Glad to see you creating videos again. We missed you! Cant wait to see what lies ahead moving forward. You are an inspiration to us all.
Yes, great to have you Back again 🐠🐠🐠
Welcome back! My son and I love watching your videos. The editing, music, sound and dog are amazing.
It's been such a long time - welcome back! I really enjoy your videos; they're so relaxing and soothing. They have become something of a routine for me when I need to relax. I'm glad to see all the fish are alive and well.
Thank for the support mate! Glad that you are enjoying the videos and yes, I'm back to posting new videos now :)
Let me know if there is any specific content you want to see ;)
@@BlueReefTank really appreciate if u can show overall all u fish. Really interesting to see them one by one. I'm watching ur channel since last week one by one. Like a movie for me. There was a continuity for each episode👍👍
@@BlueReefTank I can't get enough of the tank and fish - I'm eager to see even more! I think it's about time you reward yourself with a new fish lol. Your fish seem to be feeling lonely so maybe a new aquatic companion is needed? A Copperband Butterflyfish could be an interesting choice! As it grows, it could become the centerpiece of your tank, enhancing its beauty even further. I'd love to see something like that. What do you think? Actually no copperbanded butterfly are too difficult to keep, but anyway, a new fish is what we need I'm sure!
Hi, at the end of the video i see green water into the tank. Why after the water change? Greetings from distant Italy!
Finally good to see you back !!🤩🤩
welcome back! so glad to see you're back!
Welcome back, miss your videos and thought you werent coming back! Thanks for the update 👍
Woot woot!! I was starting to worry! Welcome back!!! 🎉
Glad ur back my friend! Hope u had a great trip away 👊🍻🥰 I’m looking forward to seeing ur big tank grow again. I’ve had some issues, not sure if it was after or before ur last video but I had Dino problems in my tank, between that and a big salinity swing not long before that, I lost most of my corals (still have a blasto and zoa) the Dino’s killed all my snails but now I have some new snails and my hermits are all still going well, and the algae that grew like crazy while I was fighting the Dino’s is just coming under control now from the new snails, so the tank is looking good, just needs new corals in it again, I got a small acro colony for my yellow coral goby that came with an acro crab, the acro did die tho (I was only hopeful to keep it alive, as it’s still a young tank, and being a small tank it does have swings in all areas not crazy bad, but enough to make touchy stuff like acro not very comfortable) I managed to drag a small piece of the acro tho and that is still 2/3s alive 😂🥰 I’m hoping I’ll be able to keep it going now i seem to have the lighting right, oh another thing I got was 2 small (about an inch and a half diameter) decorator urchins to eat the algae. They are fun to watch also… so soon as I save the money I will be buying some more corals and probably getting some more phyto and copepods to stock the tank again 🥰👊🍻
reef keeping always has these ups and downs... i solute the guys and girls who can stay ontop of their tanks year round but for most people especially in America right now, the weather outside is great, there are things to do people to see and places to go!!
The moment we’ve all been waiting for!! Welcome back!
Glad to see you back homie!
So glad to see you back!
I am so glad your back!! You have been an inspiration to my tank! So glad!
Welcome Back, looking forward to your future Video's
You are one of my favorite reef tank RUclipsr! Happy to see you back to upload more videos! Your videos make me feel peaceful when I watch them.😂
Your videos are very cool, don't stop making them, they are very relaxing
Good to have you back😊
Glad to see u back .. looking forward to seeing more vids
It’s good to hear from you! I’ve missed your peaceful videos. Hope to see more soon! How long did you leave your tank for? It cleaned up nicely.
I left it for 30-days :)
@@BlueReefTankhow did you feed it?
Welcome back , sorry for the losses but glad to see the tank in pretty good health 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 happy reefing
Oh man waiting finally over 😊 I was worried for a bit for your tank..I'm so glad everything went well.. greetings from Edmonton Alberta..
Great Video as always! Glad to see the tank cleaned up nice! Keep up the amazing videos.
Binge watching your videos back to back- and adding comments for the algorithm~! 🌻👍 Keep up the great content!
Great to see you back here! How was the vacation and how did the setup made it through? I would love to see videos from you in which you teach others to do reefing!
It was great but I wish it was longer! I lost some corals because something flipped it upside down and some corals took over others completely. Apart from that, everything else are doing well!
Nice man, glad to see you back and cleaning the tank!
glad to see you back! Really missed the vids
welcome back ! cant believe most things did well while you were away noodle did good work
Welcome back... love your channel ❤️
BROTHER! grateful to see this.happy to see everything is good enough!
And finally 🎉
Nice video bro!
Welcome back!🎉
Welcome back 🎉
Omg I’m so happy your back sir ❤️
always nice to see this tank developing well. Nice job man, Ciao👋
Long time follower! Awesome vid as always. What lens filter do you use so that you avoid the crazy blues? Cheers!
I actually didn't use any filters. I set mine to have more whites than blue :D
welcome back !
This is such an inspiring video for a new reefer like myself!! Thank you for posting something so thorough!
Bentornato con un nuovo video! a presto!
Welcome back with a new video! Soon!

Hello, it's all listed in the video description 😁
Im on vacation for 2.5 weeks. 8 hope i come back to a better looking tank with minimal or no losses myself. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👌🏻✌🏻
Fingers crossed!!
another great video and update! Glad to see you came out relatively unscathed :)
Hi! Glad you’re back! What song is playing here? 0:12
Thanks! The song is "Dont waste my time" By Victor Lundberg.
Neat 👌

Finally you‘re back! 🎉
Which algae scraper did you use? Seems to work well, without putting the hands into the Tank 👍🏻
It's just a normal algae scraper :) You can find them on ebay
Desde Barcelona (España) echábamos de menos tus videos
yeah!
Realmente un genio!! Gracias por volver a subir videos
Hi very very happy to watch your tank again!! What about temperature control when were you away ? Thank a lot
Temperature was good. I hook a fan and AC to a smart thermostat :)
Tank looks awesome! Sad about the losses though :( that glass cleaning was satisfying andf
Good video. And don't feel bad about cutting back a super aggressive and successful coral, trimming and population management is part of keeping a fixed volume. We only have so much room in a tank. And unless we trim and cut back, everyone's tank would eventually succumb to their strongest single coral.
Plus, xenia in particular is known for colonizing far more space than it should. Which is why so many hobbyist's eventually remove it entirely. It's a beautiful soft coral. But it's far too successful at taking over.
Yeah, it requires a fair bit of maintenance otherwise it will grow like weeds.
I bet that starfish preferred it how it was lol
Most random question, but I'm really curious: How did you hide the cables for the TV on your wall? It looks sleek and I'm quite envious. Is there a power outlet just behind it?
The cable runs behind the wall and they also drilled a hole underneath the TV behind the entertainment unit and that's where the cable came out to connect to a power outlet :)
@@BlueReefTank Ah I see! I wish I could that with my solid wall. Yours looks great, though!
try never taking out dead scollys, they some times come back in multiple mini scollys in the skeleton of the dead one! let the skeleton rest for a few months
same with acans and euphylias
... I've never seen anything like this EVER. And forgive me but I'm traumatized. I'm in shock over this video. Keeping corals isn't easy but wow.
In shock because of how dirty the glass is? :(
@@BlueReefTank No. We all hate dirty glass but magnet cleaners and snails are helpful in that area.
The shocking part was using a screw driver or whatever you had on hand to obliterate the living coral. You couldn't have temporarily put it in a bucket and called a friend? I couldn't get this out of my head for hours after watching it. I've seen a lot of different ways ppl handle their problems but I've never come across something this drastic in reef keeping. It's a first for me. I think a razor blade or box cutter would have been a much better choice or better, just remove some rock... give the healthy Coral a chance after all the care. I don't have to preach, you know the drill, it's your yt chosen name. I'm just shocked and feel that this hobby is going to go through big changes in the near future due to the big ocean changes …
Do you have any tips for keeping your metal aquarium tools rust-free? I do my best to wipe them dry after use but I'm still paranoid about anything rusty messing with the tank.
I usually wash them in fresh water and dry them really well using paper towel :)
what is the suction equipment used at 6:00 mins?
It's a transfer pump that I got from a local auto shop (Supercheap Auto if you are based in Australia)
@@BlueReefTank thank you! i found something similar here on Shopee Singapore
Hi just want to know, you don’t do water change while on vacation right?
Finally!
👍👍
Please let us know about automatic feeder how was your experience?
It was good! No issue at all but sometimes it does gets clogged so it's best to have a backup feeder. My Eheim feeder works great
blue reef tank? more like green reef tank today! Sorry u lost some corals. Will you rehome those extra growth corals?
Haha It went straight into the bin unfortunately
hey where you have been, i missed this kind of videos ^^
Where did you find that scraper? Can you post a link please?
Recently picked up the hobby again after a year long break, good to have you back, looking forward to more of your relaxing reefing videos!
Which algae scraper do you use?
It's a normal aquarium scraper but you can get it from Amazon here amzn.to/43GuY49
How long was that algae growing for and how is your sand so clean
I left my tank for 30 days and I was surprised that everything is still so clean (apart from the glass)
@@BlueReefTank how do you keep your sand so clean in all your videos practically it is impeccable mine is always nasty
I would use a different scraper. That type is horrible because you can scratch the glass easily with those set screws.
bros been gone for 5 months 💀 (good to see u back tho)
Finally :)
很高興看到您的更新,
看到您的行動讓我更有動力繼續飼養。
另外請問換水前KH是否低於7.0,
以及換水後KH震盪過大,
導致一些珊瑚死亡~
What pick did you use to remove the coral?
It's a mini scraper I got from my local art store :D
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I really missed you and Noodle a lot, guy! Do not do it again 😂
Parameters keeped ok too for this time?
Hahaha😂 glad to be back!
Yes the tank luckily made it through and the paramaters were relatively stable.
corals are animals
Нормуль)
I worry that when you scrape, you are sending millions of potential xenias around. You might be spreading them faster. Only aptisasia is harder to kill. lol.
Once I learned about xenia being weeds in my first tank, I never purchased xenia again. Even on an island rock, I found new xenia on another rock across the tank.
Ou I could never touch a coral. Ohh the feeling that evokes
Why did this happen?
I went on vacation for 30 days and the tank was running on auto pilot during those times. :(
@@BlueReefTank And what did the aquarium lack during these 30 days?
É
Bro please don't do that again
I think you owe us some explanation buddy.
I'll share more in a later post! Thanks for waiting mate👍
Schön das du wieder zurück bist
welcome back
please make a room tour video of this new apartment

Bojour! I’m glad to see your video this morning. I was worried. What a relief to know that all fish are alive! Your little dog also seems very happy. I hope you had a good trip. I wish you lots of fun at home. We look forward to seeing you soon on video. Bonjour from Quebec city in Canada. 😃
Finally! Welcome back!!
