Some of us live in areas where we cannot get to Costco... or other large retailers, some of us like to grow our own and supplement what we have to buy... sometimes it's just a healthier option and a journey we enjoy

I am a gardener! I like gardening! I grow ALL my own vegetables and some fruit. HUNDREDS of peas, early Spring and fallI.
I was trying to make a point of how expensive he was selling the soil, and NOT MAKING IT WORTH growing peas. Who cares where you buy peas, Costco was just an example.

$30 to fill 1 tray with soil? How many bags of organic peas can you buy at Costco for that price?

I think it could be interesting to compare 30$ of week old organic peas from wherever (costco, bjs, target, what have you) against growing your own food. It probably cost 30 dollars just to transport the peas from industrial scale organic 'food production' facilities to the store. AND, if you grow your own food you are reducing waste and pollution by keeping food off of the highways.
Friends, growing your own food is one of the BEST things you can do for global air, water and soil health 🙏🏼.
🌏🌍🌎🕊️ For all of us 💞

You MISSED MY POINT and went way OFF the chart! Week old peas?? I don't know about you but I grow a lot more peas than a weeks worth. I grow hundreds, blanch, freeze and eat them though to the next season. What about the cost of shipping, the fuel and EMISSIONS to get that soil to you? Are you still saving the planet ? My point was $30 for 1 tray of soil. FOR PEAS?? Ridiculous. Then I have to buy trays and $$$ for electricity, FOR PEAS.
      Get the point now!
I personally buy two 2 cubic ft bags of premium coco choir for $12 each and start seeds for my entire garden Spring and fall. Most gardeners do not start pea seeds indoors. They don't like their roots disturbed. Less peas at harvest time. I simply put 2 inoculated peas per hole and I don't have many bare spaces. Any that don't come up i simply put 2 more peas in the space a week or so later, they catch up. If the weather is too cold I just put a hoop structure of clear plastic over them. Save money on trays, soil and electricity. Makes my peas a lot less expensive. I also save my premium worm casting for up potting soil, planting time, in the hole and around the base of plants. Happy gardening!!
