    Most of those things you won’t need, sorry. Here’s my suggestions:
    Tylenol
    Ibuprofen
    Sleeping aid, Benadryl, Tylenol PM - I had a tough time sleeping and getting comfortable, use something that works for you
    Recliner is a must!
    Body wipes
    You need a place to stick your drains when you shower, I had a bar I could squeeze them in so they wouldn’t get in the way or be tugged (awhhhh)
    TV, magazines, books, iPhone
    Lots of pillows
    I had pretty bad back pain - ask your dr for muscle relaxers, icy hot patch, gel ice packs, heating pad
    when your 1st drain comes out, be ready for pain with the second drain and leaking - I used ointment my dr gave me, gauze, medical tape to help keep it from moving (so painful)
    When your 2nd drain comes out, be ready for leaking from the hole - I used gauze pads and a breast pad, medical tape, ointment
    Spanx- get several and they need to be tight (I hated the ones with rubber at the top, itchy and irritating) and wear your body wrap the dr gives you, lifesavers, helps with swelling, back pain, walking, sleeping, etc
    Bio oil to rub on incisions - feels great and reduces the itching
    Stool softeners were prescribed by my dr - I did get liquid laxative and fiber for the first few times, trust me, you don’t want to push
    Lucky for me I had most of this stuff at home. Everyone is different, good luck...it’s a long road, but each week gets better. I’m 3 weeks post surgery.

      Hi, just discovered that page. How are you doing. Pls did the Dr use hernia mesh for your hernia. I have an umblical hernia and I have seen a lot of scary reviews about the hernia mesh. Pls what do you suggest. Thanks

      @@chideraosuji295 My plastic surgeon did not use mesh (thank God)! He isn't in agreement with it being a necessity. He explained a suturing/stitching technique that he preferred. Feels pretty solid & intact, considering he had to incorporate in my umbilical/bellybutton stalk.

    Great detailed video- I'm a hospital pharmacist and would recommend using both the stool softener with Miralax. We sometime add on bisacodyl suppositories and they are all used together as a preventive bowl regimen prior to surgery and continued through post op. This helps avoid constipation related straining and discomfort and they are all relatively benign.

    • @shelitaprioleau4996
      @shelitaprioleau4996  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you for that advice... I've been using the miralax and it makes complete sense you'd say to use both, because sometimes it doesn't do the job by itself. I'll totally implement. If you don't mind my asking, should we not use both everyday (meaning should we take a break from them from time to time?) Or is everyday use of each fine?

    • @lscott7389
      @lscott7389 5 лет назад +5

      Shelita Prioleau It should only be used short term. We give it for up to the first 5-6 days on complicated inpatient hospital stays. For cosmetic use and to mitigate the effects of opioids, you should only need to use it as long as you are on the opioid ( ie Norco, percodan, morphine etc.). Beyond that can lead to a dependency of your intestines needing to use it and it could trigger reverse constipation when not used and/or dehydration, nutritional deficiencies etc. But short term is okay.
      . Good luck! I’m going to be getting a mommy makeover soon, and there’s so much to take in. Even for a trained medical professional :)

      Yes ma'am, they're as follow: z - - Tummy Tuck Support Group (For Women)
      - Women's Plastic Surgery Support Group
      - Tummy Tuck and More
      - Go Tuck Yourself - Tummy Tucks & More
      - Surgery Supplies Buy Sell Trade.
      I'd also encourage you to look up a group that's based on your scheduled surgery month (for example: April Tummy Tuck or 4/18 TT, were some of mine).

      I'll also add that some you'll have to answer a few questions to be added into the group.
