Still from the same movie 'Stop Making Sense'... The title of the movie comes from this song, 'As WE get older and stop Making sense'... Every thing in this movie is pretty close to perfection!!!
That little girl bass player, Tina Weymouth, learned to play base as the band lost their bass player and they asked her to do it. She leads the Talking Heads sub-group "The Tom-Tom Club"
❤ Love this one 😎That whole giant suit concept was genius. Talking Heads were: *David Byrne* - (singer & guitar) *Jerry Harrison* - (keyboards & guitar) *Tina Weymouth* - (bass/keyboard bass) *Chris Frantz* - (drums) And they brought in additional top talent for Stop Making Sense.
This whole concert is pure Art and Funk at its best! I love his Big Suit outfit. After Queen, they are undoubtedly the most intelligent and creative band...
Tina, the bass player was playing a synth bass on that song. I saw an interview with Byrne. He said the suit was inspired by Japanese theatre that he witnessed that used oversized costumes. Byrne, an eccentric personality, had conflicts with some band members throughout the bands life, but according to Tina, they had a great time doing the shows that became this movie. It shows.
The suit is purposely big: "I like symmetry, geometric shapes," Byrne said. "I wanted my head to appear smaller, and the easiest way to do that was to make my body bigger. Because music is very physical, and often the body understands it before the head." According to Put This On, Gail Blacker, the designer behind Byrne's oversized suit, has said the suit was "more of an architectural project than a clothing project." And that's certainly in keeping with Byrne's arch conceptual framework. The original suit was also light grey, a hue reportedly chosen to fit the stage lighting and to accentuate Byrne's dance moves"
Talking Heads are unique, David Brynes is incredible front man, love the bass and awesome sounds, I was going to say same thing like Gord Downie and Nick Cave! David always wore the big LARGE SUITS pretty sure that was his trademark. I love the funkiest! Awesome reaction Rory SWEEET.. And Thank You Elizabeth for this awesome funky request 😊🩷🔥🤟✌️
This exact genius movie is playing in a local IMAX theater near me several days from now. I knew this a month ago, and to think I was actually DEBATING whether or not to go to it! Then I noticed you've had a good "Talking to" lately, and seeing these songs again after the 20 or so years it's been since I've seen the film makes me question my sanity and taste for even WONDERING if I should make time to see the greatest concert movie ever with a shitload of other T-Heads fans, lol!
I’m going on Saturday! I can’t wait! You should go! I wasn’t alive when they toured so this is the best I can do. I’ve seen Byrne live a bunch of times solo and he was amazing every time

If you like David Byrne’s moves, just wait for ‘Slippery People’ and ‘Life During Wartime’ 🤣
It's so cool!

Tina plays both and is playing the bass line on the Keys
Live during wartime from that movie best live Performance ever!🔥
The jacket was for comic effect indeed. You should see his art/installations. It's as absurd as the jacket.
Life During Wartime next please sir :)
Thanks for introducing this band Rory, never really listened to them before!

He put on a progressively bigger suit as the gig went on if I remember
Life During Wartime is going to fry your brain.
Tina Weymouth plays bass and keyboard, but I think they kind of trade around instruments.
Great music… 👍
LIFE DURING WARTIME! from this concert - “Stop Making Sense.” 🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely no doubting the greatness of Stop Making Sense
I prefer the 1980 line up with Adrain Belew
Check out I Zimbra live in Rome 1980

Of course you have to go. I wish I had that opportunity to see it in a theater.

God i love david byrne 😂
5:39 Tina is playing the bass synthesizer and the bass guitar at points during the song. Hard to see but if you focus on it you can tell.
Cities from this same show stop making sense is a great tune as well
