This is the beginning of a concert movie _(Stop Making Sense,_ possibly the best concert movie ever). The rest of the band come out over the next few songs, and by the end there's a big ensemble on stage. It's really cool the way it builds up.
If you're not familiar with their work ur in for a treat, mate. Buckle up! Edit: A bit like performance art, no? My man (DB) is extremely creative. Has a show on Broadway as we speak
Stop Making Sense as stated in many comments might be best concert movie of All time Crazy you just discovered Last Waltz and now Stop Making Sense Both of which are top 5 of all time
I first watched the "Stop Making Sense" movie in a coffee shop in Leiden, Holland, where I was born. The coffee shop was called "High Times", yes it was that kind of place. Fkn awesome. They just put it on the big TV on the wall, and followed it up with Pink Floyd "Live at Pompei" jeez what a day I was off my face but I'll never forget it. Talking Heads are awesome. This was just the first act of the concert movie, you can see the crew setting up for the rest of the band. Totally original and clever intro to the concert.
"I hate people when they are not polite" one of the best lines sung by him dressed as a psycho killer. That is exactly the mentality of a psycho killer....kill you for not being polite!
Oh this is going to be an awesome rabbit hole. Talking Heads are brilliant. This whole concert/movie is fantastic. David Byrne is quirky and brilliant.
Talking heads are a band but here You just have the great David Byrne directed by the great Jonathan Demme (the silence of the lambs..) for a legendary song!!!! The words you don't understand are in French!!! Thank You

The next song adds their bassist, one after that adds the drummer, and so forth. Awesome film.
highly reommend you watch the movie entirely, cause even the little in between bits when more and more members come on stage, the energy is just incredible
Cross-Eyed and Painless Live in Rome 1980 by The Talking Heads features Adrian Belew on guitar who would very soon after join King Crimson for some of the best music of the 1980's
❤ Talking Heads & "Stop Making Sense" - legendary 🔥 Love this song and this band 😊 Looking fwd to Girlfriend is Better and Stay Up Late. David Byrne & also Peter Gabriel ....so influential in the 80s, both musically and in video production
Looks a typical music video in the 80's , there were lots of competions of who was the best music video ever , you have great skills of dancing Rory good swing c'mon, thanks for the video excellent, xoxoxo to Nala👏🏻👍👌🤗🐶🎸
WOW! Delightful entertainment, especially 'cause it was a mystery to you also. But I was smilin' the entire time so it was wonderful! I look forward to learning more.....may not comment, but I'll be there cause I love needing to smile!😊
This is how he starts the "Stop making sense" concert and adds instruments as the concert goes on. I saw this concert in person and it was phenominal!!!! You are going to enjoy the rabbit hole with the talking heads they are an amazing unique band!!!! Glad this was your introduction to them and David Byrne is a geinus musician and composer and part of the song is in French....Enjoy it will be an experiance Rory 🤗
Well, _The Last Waltz_ with The Band was a precedent, but that had all the backstage stuff that Demme doesn't bother with here, so they are different sorts of concert movies.
Hang on a minute; in the last few weeks, you've discovered Pixies, Nick Cave, & Talking Heads!!! Are you stalking me? If you start delving into Elvis Costello, I'll know something's up. Three of my top four is a pretty effective strike-rate. Re TH, just cut to the chase and watch the whole 'Stop Making Sense' movie; it's (rightly) considered to be in the argument for the greatest concert film ever made (and it's really not much of an argument). I saw the show live in 1984 and it was the best concert I've ever been to.
@@RoryreactsElvis Costello’s rabbit hole is so incredibly deep, you’ll never get out. He’s very prolific. According to Wikipedia, he has 32 studio albums and six live albums. He has been one of my very favorite singer songwriters since I first heard him in 1979. I would love to see your reaction to any of his songs. 🙂
It's funny you said he looks a bit like Tommy Shelby. Just the other day I told my brother (who is also a huge fan of Talking Heads) that Cilian Murphy should play David Byrne in a biopic.
Def is a band and a SICK band - one of the very best new wave 80s by a long way. "Burning Down the House" is a great one to jump on! That is David Byrne who did some solo stuff as well but the band has a great sound.
Awesome song!! "Psycho Killer" was also featured in the show Mind Hunter, if you like a show about Serial Killers awesome show, it's not a documentary.David Byrne is Awesome!! Very unique front man! Awesome reaction Rory, and thank you Luke for this awesome request, I think your blowing Rory's mind 😁💓🤘✌️
Directed by Jonathan Demme, Oscar-winning director of ‘Silence of the Lambs’ - this is arguably the greatest live concert I’ve ever seen 👏🏻
He also directed Neil young heart of gold film .
Greatest live concert film ever. You picked a great one to react to! The film is a masterpiece.

My pops is buddies with David Byrne…he’s from Baltimore like I am….Pops said he’s cool as sh*t
This movie was the first of it's kind. I remember vividly my Uncle playing it for me what I was around 12 or so.
Well, _The Last Waltz_ with The Band was a precedent, but that had all the backstage stuff that Demme doesn't bother with here, so they are different sorts of concert movies.
Great music…👍 This guy is brilliant. You must check out ‘Girlfriend is Better’ from this same concert…
Flashbacks .stoned of your head driving around with the talking heads turned up flat out great days
