He wasn't dissing pop punk, he was just imitating pretentious people who dis all of these sub genres. The whole point of what he was saying is that we should be proud of our musical roots, and at the moment and for him personally, it was emo/pop punk/emocore. I remember a tweet he put out a few years ago where he said American Football's record was his favorite or most influential record, and that was actually how I started listening to that band. Max is one of the modern geniuses and master craftsmen of songwriting and painting pictures with music, I love him so much.

I don't think he's ripping on pop-punk, I think what he meant when he said "some kind of whiny bullshit mysoginistic... pop-punk" was that he was trying to imitate what people who stereotype music are saying and trying to talk about the pitfalls of stereotyping and going with what is "cool" only because the fact that it has mainstream popularity. Oh, and I like pop-punk too. :D Just saying XD
