She feels like her family just dumped her there- abandoned her. She also needs to be told that suicide is an awful legacy to leave your children. They still need her & love her. She matters very much to them, even if she isn't visiting them right now. I tend to wonder if post partum made it worse, the depression, in this scenario?

Probably because of the patient confidentiality issue. It's hard to get permission from a depressed patient due to altered state of mind. It ethically would look like we're taking advantage of them. Also they can withdraw permission at any time
