Ok, studying this in school....she needs to know there is still hope. The anti depressant may really help her. Tell her this! It takes time to get into your system - but she will find some relief, but she's got to hang on! She needs support- when you are alone - this is awful! She feels like her family just dumped her there- abandoned her. She also needs to be told that suicide is an awful legacy to leave your children. They still need her & love her. She matters very much to them, even if she isn't visiting them right now. I tend to wonder if post partum made it worse, the depression, in this scenario?

Go to sleep and not wake up. Ive been there. Not die, but not exist for a while because I was so TIRED of the churning dread.
This acting scenario doesn't show the best skills. A real pt might demonstrate the best communication skills with a practiced senior

Probably because of the patient confidentiality issue. It's hard to get permission from a depressed patient due to altered state of mind. It ethically would look like we're taking advantage of them. Also they can withdraw permission at any time
