thanks for showing but OMG that's clunky to enter a code and don't see myself taking my eyes of flying to do that.

Thank you for this. I have been trying to see how you change the squawk code for a year now and even the manufacturer does not have a youtube on it. This is a first.

Following with interest. If I still lived close to the border (I used to fly from Langley CYNJ) I would have long since installed U.S.-spec ADSB. From here in Kamloops it's not as high a priority. My plane's GTX327 works just fine...

How long did it take to install? And did you also put in the magnetometer?

This took 41 hours to install but a few problems were found and dealt with along the way. This include replacing the tail nav light wire. Sorting some vacuum system issue. Replacement of pannel shock mounts and cleaning up corrosion.
Extensive modification to the fairing was needed to fit the unit in the tail. The rudder also needed removal from the aircraft to remove the old gromments amd enlarge holes to pass the wires through the rudder. Its a big job.

Too many clicks to access deeper functionality. For myself, I'd invest in a second AV-30 to act as the dedicated DG/HSI and skip the transponder integration. Separate instruments with separate functionality which can be instantly adjusted to the task at hand. Reduce the workload.
