I remember when I was about 6 I got to drive a combine and I thought it was awesome. Now the biggest tractor I’ve ever driven is a John Deere 9320. Or a case Steiger panther.
Yessssssss my dad let me drive his new holland tractor with the auger wagon on the back on the go and I was freaking out because I was driving it all by myself first time alone on the go
Brings back times with my daughter . From the time she was 2 till 4 she rode/drove every time I was in the field could always tell when she was sleepy cause she would sit between my legs in the floor and go to sleep.... NEVER FORGET THOSE DAYS
Good to see the next generation smiling while driving a tractor! This video touches my heart, because my Dad started teaching me how to drive tractor when I was 8 years old also. Nice to see somethings never change.
The joy and happiness on his face says it all. My dad started me at about the same age but not on anything as massive and sophisticated (a Ford 8N). It lead to a lifetime love of tractors for me. Keep him involved and bring the daughters into the cab ASAP.
Zach I think you done messed up. You see, now the count down is on. I'd say in about 2 years you're hardly ever going to see the inside of a tractor cab again, he'll jump in the cab first every time. Then you'll be wondering why you didn't teach him how to shovel out grain bins, and grease equipment, instead! Oh yeah, your life is taking a turn for the hard labor camp now Zach! lol...
What a fun experience for your son. I'm not a farmer but someone gave me the opportunity to get behind the steering wheel of a CaseIH MX240 tractor one time which I thought was pretty cool. I'm a big kid at heart and I'm living vicariously through your videos Zach, keep it up please!
This is great! The look on his face when the tractor starts to move is priceless! An experience he'll never forget! The next generation keeping it going!!
I know and understand the look on the boys face. It is pure joy. Can't get enough of the boy's being happy to drive a tractor and help the family farm.
Somewhere I have a picture of me when I was 5 on phone books flying a Cessna 180 over Mt Rainier. Started flying left seat in a Cessna 152 5867C when I was 13, soloed on my 16th birthday. Kids have such amazing learning capability if you just give them a chance. On a long road trip late at night dad would put the van on cruise control and climb into the passenger seat, wake me up and say "son climb up here and steer the wheel for me so I can take a nap. Wake me up when we get to chahalis" I think I was 10 at the time. Your a great father Zach! Praise God!
There's nothing more satisfying than teaching your Son to drive machines!! I can remember my Dad showing me on a 44 Massey Harris!!! Been a year or 2 ago!!! I'm 62 and been farming my entire life!!!
Awesome video I remember learning to drive a John Deere 4000 powershift with my grandpa at 8 years old. You brought back a lot of great memories. Thanks
Fun stuff! He has a great smile. It's rewarding to teach kids things, but they now and then teach us things more important. Like retaining an innocent fascination with life. My father taught me how to drive our brand new Case backhoe when I was 8 years old, also.
I remember the first full size tractor I drove. An old 1979 JI Case 2590. He had me pulling a ripper, and that was some of the most fun I've ever had. My dad has tried to sell that tractor 3 times on me, and I keep telling him that tractor is not going anywhere. I am never going to sell that thing, I love it too much.
I know this a bit older video but I just saw it and it brought back a flood of memories from when I was 8! Never drove a tractor, just a lawn one, but my Dad was a master tool and die maker and machinist and watching him working is my first real memory. Somewhere is a picture of me at that age climbing up on the chip tray to change the gears on and running a Warner-Swasey NO.3 engine/turret lathe and I KNOW I was smiling just like your outstanding young man the first time I ran it all by myself. Great to see the skills being past along! Keep up the good work!
Same, I think my dad let me handle the steering at age 4, while sitting on his lap. It was old soviet-made mtz-80 tractor. No electronics or relay handling - everything was pure mechanical. So I was too short and too light to press the pedals. But by the age 8, I was capable to drive it without support in cabin (But dad still kept an eye from the ground next to tractor, in case something goes wrong). Nice memories. Now I'm 21, and we still have this tractor. It needs some serious repairs, but I'm working on it, no plans to send it to junk yard. Too many memories attached to it.
His grin on his face when the tractor started to move was great. I remember when I first drove a tractor I drove a 1950s johndeere 70. He’s going to be kicking you out of the seat soon
This reminds me of when I was a little kid working the land with my father. Oh how much I miss you dad. I tank my mother and father for a fantastic childhood ❤️❤️farmers are the greatest people on the earth ❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇮🇪👍☘️👍
I remember my first time. I was also 8 on a international 756. Always loved working the fields although I grew up on a small dairy farm. It’s great to see you interact with your kids. Your good dad! Love your channel
Nice job. I am 17 and hope that i can drive a tractor one day (i am not living on a farm). Good to see that driving a tractor makes kids happy in the world of videogames.
Amazing video. I loved the smile on his face when he was driving the tractor. It brought back memories of my Dad teaching me how to drive tractor on a 806 International. It's nice to see the next generation learning about farming. Thanks for video & bringing back some great memories.
Learned to drive an old Oliver 880 at age 7 in my grandpa's lap cultivating cotton 42 years ago. Loved it so much I'm still driving farm equipment just a little bigger now. Good Job Dad. Great videos. Good looking young man you got there.
Good video. I could see the joy in his face as he took over. Good to see a young lad getting some genuine enjoyment out of life. So many have a very difficult time today.
Outstanding young man!!!!!!!! My "tractor" was an 88 ford bronco that my son used to steer up our street. Graduation day was when he could pull it into the driveway. Memories for a lifetime!
I started when I was 8 I started out on our John deere 8400 on our grain cart and it's been my job ever since and I disk in the spring with our John deere 4760 2wd
Great video that brought back a lot of memories! I started at six years old driving a mini mo 1938. Your son has that great taste in his head thats gonna be asking to drive all the time.
Pretty awesome!! I remember my first time driving. John Deere 620 hand clutch. Lol 30 years later I'm trying to buy that same tractor just because I think it would be neat to have around.
Brings back some good memories of sitting on Dads knee steering the old Farmall 350. A fraction of the tractor but man I felt like I was a million bucks. This is what it’s all about! Good stuff. Now-fields are frozen. Dryer clean. Equipment washed up. I suppose it’s time to start going through the late mod!
I was 6 when grandpa had me doing field work. As a parent now It makes since why fall tillage is the first place to learn. Small implement, many passes, lots of practice doing something simple.
That was so awesome to see you do this for your son. You imparted something into him that only a father can. You are a good Dad. I was about the same age when my father first taught me to drive one of our tractors in about 1966 .... it was a John Deere 70 Diesel that had the little pony motor that you had to start first and then the pony motor started the main diesel engine.
Great video, Brings back fond memories of when my father taught me how to drive my uncles John Deere Model B, I was seven and I remember that day 55+ years later
My grandfather put me on an old Ford 1220 when I was 7 ( I was a BIG 7) and said "keep it strait" while he and grandma through hay bales on the rack. Memories, wow.
And I thought I was something, pulling tobacco sleds from the fields with a 871 Powermaster when I was 12. And, like said in other comments, I still have a grin whenever I hear the diesel grunting with a load. Beautiful Music!. "Little Farm Kid" will be blogging as the Gen Z Farmer soon.
Such a pro already. I remember my first tractor I learned to drive was my dads 4440 john deere with duals no powershift. I had so much fun with it. Thatll be a memory he remembers forever
Great video nothing like some father and son time together. He did a great job enjoy this time you have with him he will be grown before you know it!!!

(make back ups) But seeing him step up an take control REALLY made me feel good. Gives me faith in his generation like NO millennial could ever inspire. (ceptin you, of course LOL) And I think he did exceptionally well and understood just what was going on!! From this I can see a young man who will never be beaten by life!! I feel he will conquer all challenges he faces!! His parents have done REAL well. And I thank YOU for YOUR service by raising such a competent young man. What I see is exactly what this country, AND the world need!! Fantastic!! I am also judging from other things I have seen him do around the farm. Keep stuffing knowledge into his brain. It can take it!! And will build a stronger and better world with all you can teach him. Lemme stop here, I am starting to ramble cause I am so impressed. GO Onyx !!!
I am obsessed with these beautiful machines. Its a childhood dream to ride in one while ripping up soil or combining crops. As always, thanks for sharing. Enjoy your videos.
Great job, Onyx. You're very fortunate to be born into a farming family. Good job, Zach. Want to adopt for him a 44 year old big brother? Great video. Congratulations on being "done" for the winter.
I remember my first tractor was a JD B with a cycle mower on the back, shoot 6 years old(with dad)as well as an Allis with a Loader at 8 loading manure. My first real solo missions were at 12 on IH 500 series hauling irrigation pipes and then a JD 4520 Discing, the whole time drove on gravel roads to and from fields. Those were the days....
His grin on his face.......priceless. What a memory.
4 years later,he is a huge helping hand on the farm. Cuddos to Zack for teaching him
It always brings joy to my heart to see the next generation of farmers learn how to drive their first tractor!

You mustn’t have done much tractor driving then at 21 I was getting fed up of driving tractors
This video turned me 12 years back in past... when my dad teach me to drive our Zetor. That was one of the happiest day in my life. Thx MN
Reminds me when I first learned. It was the most fun/terrifying thing in the world as a kid.
Wyatt Witt same it was fun but i was afraid I would mess it up, I have gone a long ways since then
I drove my dads tractor today
Yessssssss my dad let me drive his new holland tractor with the auger wagon on the back on the go and I was freaking out because I was driving it all by myself first time alone on the go
I realy wanna learn ta drive a tracter but my stepdad wont teach me or let me touch it... 😢 He never wanna teach me nothin 😢
Brings back times with my daughter . From the time she was 2 till 4 she rode/drove every time I was in the field could always tell when she was sleepy cause she would sit between my legs in the floor and go to sleep.... NEVER FORGET THOSE DAYS
You can see the gears turning in his brain, processing what he is learning. Job well done, sir. Raising them right.
Good to see the next generation smiling while driving a tractor! This video touches my heart, because my Dad started teaching me how to drive tractor when I was 8 years old also. Nice to see somethings never change.

Great student, prime learning activity and great teacher.
Best education a kid can get!!! Responsible and understanding of mechanical things. 👍👍👍

My grandfather put me on an old Ford 1220 when I was 7 ( I was a BIG 7) and said "keep it strait" while he and grandma through hay bales on the rack. Memories, wow.
Awesome video Zach!! Teaching him like my grandpa and uncle taught me, eight years old and in a wide open field. It was on a SC Case though.
And I thought I was something, pulling tobacco sleds from the fields with a 871 Powermaster when I was 12. And, like said in other comments, I still have a grin whenever I hear the diesel grunting with a load. Beautiful Music!.

So wish I had a movie of doing this with my Dad 60 years ago....... happy days......
THIS is THE video I have enjoyed the most!! The family history with you and your dad was really super. I think it is outstanding that you now have this video record of your family history.
