And they act un professional. Always looking for there self gain not for the team. It’s a new error. The league is growing at a more professional way. These women need to up there game and there attitude in the post interview just be more professional. So when your contract comes calling, your game and stats will pay a good contract. Your hate and jealousy is not going to get you a good contract, it’s your game and how you carry yourself professionally. The fans like that, remember fans pay for everything even you contracts. As a rookie Bird improved the Celtics from 26 wins the year before he was drafted, to 60+ wins, then, next year, to the playoffs, then, year three, World Champions! Bird was something special and I see many of his qualities and skill set in CC! This is shaping up to be one for the record books! @@shirleyanthes3279 As I listened to the narration it hit me that the conversation was about one rookies impact on not only their team, but the league as a whole. In that regard I stand by my comment that history has recorded a “like” event in the 1980’s, when one person was so gifted and special that his addition to a poor performance team elevated that team to become world champions in the time span of only three years! Sounds a lot like CC to me, but it is very conceivable that Clark’s impact on the WNBA could well make the Bird/Celtics story pale in comparison. Anyway you slice it, this is shaping up to be just as important to the WNBA as Bird and Magic were to the NBA! Those two men truly changed the NBA!

    • @boosuedon
      @boosuedon 2 месяца назад +1

      @@Branfaol1 Precisely! Before Bird and Magic came into the NBA even the NBA PLAY OFFS were being tape delayed until late at night! There was little public interest in watching the NBA play. Nobody cared! That all changed with Larry Bird took the Celtics from a losing team with only 26 wins to a wining team of 60+ wins during his rookie year. (Sound familiar?) Then Irvin "Magic" Johnson entered into the scene and the NBA took off and never looked back! Of course it is too soon to know for sure, but C. Clark sure seems to be repeating history here with her impact on what has been up to this point a lack luster boring sport that could not find an audience. Bird too had to deal with a lot of racism, resentment and hate. The main difference between Bird and Clark is that Bird enjoyed the nay sayers because they gave him extra motivation to shove his game in their face! I can hear it now, "Caitlin "Legend" Clark"! Has a nice ring to it!!!

      Yes, we know Bird and others...but the WNBA has been able to glide by on its lazy-river attitude for YEARS. It doesn't matter that it's basketball. It doesn't matter that it's funded in part by the NBA. It has fostered a culture of lazy behavior and a JV level of performance. And finally that may be changing. And it won't be Larry Bird or Magic Johnson who changed the WNBA. It will be the WNBA who will change itself. That's the key, and that's the only way that this will have any kind of long-term evolutionary effect. I look forward to seeing where this goes, even though I don't watch any sports on the teevee. Healthy sports make for a healthy society.

    4:07 Clark and The Fever are doing fine but why do you find it necessary to lie and exaggerate? The Fever was NOT dead-last, last season. They were 10th out of 12. So far this season they are 7th and have a losing record: 13-15. I expect they will climb in the standings and have more wins than losses by season's end. Why take a great story and sully it with inaccuracies?

    Clay Travis spoke truth in that clip. This league is standing still with its huge inertia of poor performance and social drama. CC might or might not be able to change that inertia, I don't know. But she is showing one thing to be true: The players of the WNBA are not very good at their sport.
    CC has revealed this as the dirty little secret, and she has shown that one wisp of a little girl fresh out of school at Iowa can basically manhandle almost everybody on this league. Not only that, she raises her teammates' playing level along with her own, so this is a force-multiplier of the grandest sort.
    It's also "shots fired" in a much larger battle. The little girls and young women currently playing in age group, summer, and college leagues will no doubt see that real success is available if you just work your @ss off. And it's not hard to work your ass off and grab that success when 80% of the current players are happily lazy.
    So next year we'll see a couple of new challengers in the CC mold. If we're lucky, we'll see a couple of veteran players awaken from their performance slumber next year too, and finally start working and playing like they mean it. And then maybe the year after that, we'll see a few MORE new rookies and maybe a couple MORE veterans all raising their game too. I'll bet that in 5 short years, a full 80% of today's players won't even be in the league anymore, because by then, you won't be able to hide your JV performance behind your age group work ethic. A more adult, more "professional" attitude about personal responsibility will be necessary to be successful.
    I'll bet that we might even see a lot of the (ahem) social "drama" disappear from this league over time too. Because if your league has upped its game, then you need to up yours. Pretty soon, you won't have time to be carrying on with woke drama off the court. You'll be too busy working hard, or you'll be too tired to be carrying on with nonsense that doesn't win games.
    I think this is the dawn of a new age for the WNBA. CC won't be the one to bring it on; at least not all by herself. But she will be the one who STARTED it all by showing what's possible if you just work hard, have grace, and leave the drama in your locker with your gear.

    CC elevates her team, she wants everyone to be involved in the win. She's not selfish when it comes to scoring. If someone else has the shot and she is ready to give up her shot to get the points. That is what you want in a teammate. Just watch her teammates and look at the intensity they are playing with now. It's because of her effect on a team, she gets everyone going the same direction. GOAT, maybe. ROY for sure. MVP we'll see.

      She has also set the record for assists for a rookie in a season...with 12 gms left. If she averages 6.5 assists per game over those 12 (she averages 8.3 for the yr) she'll tie the all-time wnba record for assists in a season. Go hate somewhere else. She makes turnovers because she aggressively seeks to make passes other people can't make.

    Sides is completely inept. Caitlin knows more about than this “Coach” At least she’s stopped trying to make Caitlin into something she’s not!! Still, Sides is an Assistant Defensive Coach at best. To put her in Charge of talented, elite professionals is a disservice to the game, league, team, fans…and herself. I guess I’d go show how stupid I was if someone gave me half a million dollars. At the end of the day, it would sink my soul to know I didn’t earn it.
    Now, and I’m sure it’s due to Linn Dunn having an Immense love & crush on Sides (Dunn needs to Retire - Again) Sides is getting a raise. For What??
    Making Caitlin take a backside to what made her famous in the first place? All those losses at the beginning of the season fall at Sides feet…Caitlin came straight from being the Best collegiate athlete in history to the W, and Sides was the genius that wanted to Change the #1’s style of play?
    Jeesh…if Indiana MUST keep her (I can’t fathom why except maybe because CC looks like she’s broken her in) at least recognize whom do what for the team & when. Sides is an embarrassment. If Indiana is unfortunate enough to Have to deal with her again, and Sides is getting a freaking RAISE 🤦🏻‍♀️ I think CC & the Team should get raises (I mean, Sides should even give the team a % of her half M salary as THEY saved HER from being the biggest joke & Failure in W history.
    IMHO
