My parents did this song together for years played guitar and harmonized beautifully and it was also played by my brother at my fathers funeral and now my 21 year old son plays it on his guitar and I harmonize with him.. this was always a favorite of everyone that heard it played and always requested.. I wonder how many more generations it will go down through considering I have 4 sons I hope forever.. this song has become a family tradition for us

Thank you for sharing that beautiful story. Many underestimate the many blessings of music. I have been a fan of NGDB since I was a little boy and this tune always stuck with me. J Fred Knobloch, co-writer of this wonderful song, made my day when he thanked me for sharing it on here about 6 years ago. And it is awesome to hear of music so permeating a family for it bonds the family in a sharing that otherwise might not be obtained!

My buddy Aaron Thomas used to play this on guitar when we was 15 yrs old. I had no idea who the artist was until I looked it up today. Brings back so many memories when we hung out. I seen Aaron on our 25 year class reunion. He's still living back on the ridge and still playing all the classics.

Thanks for posting this. I wrote this with Dan Tyler many years ago and it's one of my favorite cuts/bands of all time. Both of the Circle albums are great from stem to stern....they are a class act for sure! And don't forget "Uncle Charlie and his dog Teddy"....as good as Sgt. Pepper's to me

Thank you for co-writing such a great song! And thank you for being pleased I've shared it. I was very surprised to find it wasn't on here as it is one of my favorites from the album. I have both "Circle" albums as well as "Uncle Charlie and his dog, Teddy". I've been a fan of the Dirt Band since I was around 10. I took my daughter to see them when she was about that age & she's a huge fan as well. ironically I'm more of a hard rock fan but there has always been something in the country rock bands that held me.

      J Fred Knobloch
Mr Knobloch, I´m from Sweden and a lifelong fan of the Dirt Band. As the year 1999 turned into the year 2000 I was standing in a circle with my closest friend singing along to this song. An absolutely unforgettable moment. Thank you.

Hakan G what a great story....thanks a lot! Those kinds of stories are part of the reason we write songs in the first place!

This was my daughter Christy's favorite song when she was 5 and we wore out the CBU 2 cd while painting her room. She is now 25 and having a baby in a few weeks. I pulled up this song because I was thinking of her.

All 3 lead singers take turns on the verses. The Nitties hit #27 in Billboard, 7-8-89. God bless you, David, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed rest of the week!

I was fortunate enough to see this line-up. I took my daughter to the show. One of my favorite concert memories. I love the song & couldn't believe it wasn't already posted.
