Hi Mark first check the EARTH wire, then fuses, do this before disturbing rear wires but pretty sure it’s the earth, failing that you can take a feed from the working headlight across to non working side, also put a separate earth to the headlight it will then work. It’s easy to do with wires over top from he’d light then a direct earth to battery this is test method prior to installing wires correctly
I hope the hatch wiring hasn’t fried the BCM. going by the state of it, it could well be. I’m sure the wiring is ok now but where they were snapped and shorting out in can cause all sorts of issues with the BCM.
Well done Mark, your persistence paid off. Auto electrical problems can be so hard to find and locate. I expect the fuse failed because of the broken wiring by the tailgate. Going to be a well sorted little motor! Additional note - you have a bad earth, check off side rear light earth connection.
When you said about the boot, I’m saying ‘check the fuse, check the fuse,…….. never mind…. You’ve learnt a lesson for the future.😂😂😂😂. Always check the fuse first.
It won’t be the hatch wiring, I thought you would have done a positive test with your probe before changing the boot lock and switch. It must be a poor connection at the headlight. Might be earthing out . Swap the headlight and see if the connection works. Great job Mark
Great video Mark and love 500 might know what it could be as he does these every day in and out!! I am sure you will soon sorr it out after getting frustrated and it should be we hope a simple fix! Stay safe and see you soon on the next one Mark
Check the bulbs. Some indicator bulbs have two filiments and two contacts on the back of the bulb. If the bulb isn't seated properly and the contacts touch both leads, voltage can flow back to the other lights.
Hi Mark i would definitely be checking the earth strap that goes from the body to the engine underneath the battery tray they normally corrode and snap causing all sorts of electrical problems. I don't think its you wiring buddy 😅
If you put indicators on left side only then sidelights does the fault occur ?? If it doesn't I would say its not tailgate wiring . Try disconnecting rear cluster drivers side if fault still there I would check earth at front headlight
mark have you got a spare indicator and light switch unit ? i know its a pain to change but could that be faulty . just a thought you never know chap it could be the prob

Thanks Daniel what a pain 👍👍

Hi mate. Was it the 20amp fuse that had blown and also which slot? Have the same issue with my boot
Which fuse was it?? It’s my issue!!!
Yes please tell us which fuse. I also have this issue on my 2012 and I've checked everything
Same for me!!
Hey Mark could be corrosion on a wiring plug or light unit connections.

Hi Rick I will check that very annoying 👍👍

Thanks Frank I will check 👍👍
I remember you having issues with a 500 boot before 🤔
Like the fault finding videos
Thanks Bill yeah I do like working out a problem 👍👍
Yet another great video and another one with gremlins but I'm sure you will sort it car looking great so far thanks for sharing 👍👍
Hi mate it can be the intercater arm or switch
Always start with the fuse box Mark. The lounge looks better after a clean up.
Thanks John all ways leaning 👍👍
I would of gone for the switch first too ,they use to be a pain on the old Micra's ,changed it three times

Thanks mate I do question my work some times 🤣🤣I will check that earth strap 👍👍

What amp fuse pls? I just bought a 2011 fiat 500 and I think I may have the same problem. Would really appreciate a reply, many thanks!

The problem with the lights looks like either a shorted out bulb or a bad earth mark or possibly the bulb not fitted into the bulb holder correctly
Earth on the rear lights
Un plug the rear light 1st and then try if fixed then bad earth\b*#@feed on rear cluster if still on replug and unplug headlight
Probably an earth.
