I came back 5 years later to reminisce again about the GMC Envoy XUV, I love this SUV and the way this person reviewed it, kind of makes me love the car even more.
I have the Acadia which replaced this. It’s not as versatile but it has that truck like look while maintaining that smooth crossover ride. One of the most upscale yet rugged midsize SUVs you can get! I wouldn’t even trade it for a forerunner bc that has a less upscale cabin from my model year and not as Roomy as the 2015
I agree. I've been following him since just about when he started the chanel. and he really can. the envoy and trailer blazer was one of gm's not so good vehicle to say it nicely lol. and he still sold it like it was a Mercedes
+Young Sav it hurts me to watch those lol I'll never be able to afford something like that I drive a 30 year old gmc and that's probably how it'll stay till it blows up
This combines two of the favorite cars my mom and stepdad has owned. My mom had gotten a 2002 Envoy SLT in 2019. Very reliable truck.. Thing that happened was, my mom had never changed the oil in it and ended up having an oil leak. Not long after, the Envoy had an idle issue and wouldn't threaten to stay running. Not long after that, the Envoy had a blown motor. It then was towed away after sitting for a long time. Then, my stepdad had gotten his 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche. It's a reliable truck. Even if it's based off the Silverado, it has some features that make that truck special. Like the removable back window or the three removable tops on the top of the bed. Or how about the storage compartments you can lock outside. And the Avalanche has the same motor as this. The Envoy XUV. The two trucks combined, both Envoy and Avalanche, make a great vehicle. R.I.P Envoy SLT 2002-2020.
as a former driver of the 2004 XUV, i can easily this is the most versatile vehicle ever built. it is the most useful as it could be used for hauling, offroading, cruising, working.... i had the exact the exact same color of interior and exetrior minus the V8. mine was a 6 cylinder vortec. my only complain was the gauges that malfunctioned frequently. i had issues wih the fuel gauge as well as the tachometer. thanks for the review i was lookin forward for someone to make a detailed review about this vehicle and hen u did it.
That 5.3 is an amazing motor. I have a 04 1500 Suburban with 280k miles, and still running strong. I wish GM would have gave it much more ground clearance.
One thing I do have to give props to is that when the envoy came out in 2002 (aside from the Jimmy) it definitely looked far more modern that everything else in the same time period!
Jordan Bibbs if you want it go for it,I just sold my bmw for this car and I'm pretty freaking amazed ,this car is more advanced and smart then people think..this car when you want speed...it's based on safety so it takes 2 seconds for the envoy to realize, oh wait ..we're doing this and it speeds up and it's smooth
+Homer Him nope I still have my first car 1995 Bronco bought it with 90k miles did maintenence routinely. now it 340k miles same motor and transmission own a 2011 dodge cummins it's been in the shop more than anything I own
I’m in the process of buying my first ever car with a small loan from the bank and this is the car I ended up picking. This video makes me feel very safe about my decision and I can’t describe how big of a weight that is off my shoulders. Thank you
Thank you so so much for reviewing older cars again, like you used to. Seeing reviews of newer cars is nice, but we need a refresher once in a while haha.
Just like everyone else is saying.. Yay! Love the older reviews. I've been a subscriber for around 4 or so years, so you know I miss the older vehicles a lot! I really wish you would do more but at the same time I understand that they probably don't get the views that the current vehicles get. All the best Kyle!
Prepare yourself for a long search. It took a year for me to find my 05 Trailblazer with the V8, the later year models 05+ had the cylinder deactivation feature (or Active Fuel Management), that would shut off 4 cylinders when not under load (it was like a minute on/off or so) where it cycles between V4/V8 mode. Downside is there's a chance with age/miles the cylinder will collapse and you'll need to pull the heads to replace them all. (Happened to me a month ago, its fixed now haha). Looking past that small issue, the engine still pulls strong, has the power when you need it and is very versatile as far as modifications go.
If you don't mind going a bit bigger in vehicle size, the 4.8/5.3 Yukon/Tahoe of those years are a good choice; those iron block LS engines last forever. I think the 4.8 has a somewhat stronger crank too? Don't quote me on that, but I've heard a few others mention it before. Only real issues I've seen with those is the interior being kinda "meh" and the transmission having issues if you go hard on it 24/7.
True there, and they both make near about the same power stock. Also after looking into it a bit, the 4.8 does actually have a really great crank. Those engines are definitely cheap and reliable, and make plenty of power on a budget.
+Scouty don't get me started with the vortec 6000 runs beautiful t The only engine I didn't like was HO v8 from Cadillac aka vortec max I didn't like it It doesn't respond like the gmc 6.0
This is exactly what I want! I tote a lot around and love the versatility of the XUV model. I drive an SLT envoy and I love it, but I wish I had something bigger. Driving the envoy, one thing that bothers me is the cup holder situation. The smaller cup holder close to the radio is such a pain. If I get an XUV, one thing I'm going to do is get trip from a SLT or Denali and put it in because I prefer a "wood" interior. Just a luxury option that makes me feel better lol! I do wish there was the possibility of having a third row like the XL, but keeping the uniqueness of the XUV. I'd try to get one with a sunroof as well! Haha
You freakin mind reader you, how'd you know I had my eye on one of these and wanted a good descriptive video of one? Thank you for this video good sir!
This is my second V8 Envoy and I love it. CD player does not work but didn't work in my 2003 either Got the 05 envoy from local GM dealer that was headed for the scrap dealer. A few minor repairs and it pulls my 27' camper without at problem Right now has problem with the ignition switch... wont start... Second ignition switch I've put in.
My wife and I have owned this vehicle since 2007 and its been the very best vehicle we've ever owned hands down. and with 180,000 on the 5300 vortec have been all over the country driven through every type of weather and conditions and with the two of us alone we sleep in the back at camp sites and open the roof and enjoy nature regularly in the Ca mountains. the dash and interior has not one crack giving we live in the high desert well designed materials hold up well. also pulls anything with ease from horse trailer to car haulers and our 2012 25ft summit camper safely. i want another low mileage just like it and there priced very well compared to anything. this Envoy XUV is the best kept secret since area 51. enjoy!
I couldn't afford one when the first came out, but my wife just told me to get an SUV or a truck, as I was recently car shopping, and so I bought the XUV! I'm loving it, and it's definitely the most versatile vehicle that I've ever owned. (My wife and I have owned about 25 different vehicles, including a conversion van.) Our dog loves his bed iand all of the space in the back of the XUV.
Don't get me wrong, I love all of Kyle's new content and I watch every single video he uploads, but this reminds me of the earlier days with the older cars on the lot. Thumbs up!
Before I bought my 03 XL 5.3L, I saw an XUV on the road and didn't know what I could make of it. Didn't dislike it or like it. It had a very unique look to it. As I see more of them on the road, I kind of regret not buying an XUV now, but still happy with my XL nonetheless. The cargo area is aweome in the XUV
I have a 2003 Avalanche, which I love. Just saw another youtuber do a video on this vehicle and I may have to keep my eye out for one of these. Good job in your description and video quality.
My mom has a 2006 GMC Envoy XL. Our Combined MPG is 17. It's Burgundy and has 194k miles. The both back doors creak. We have to replace the Oxygen Sensor and there's a tapping as soon as we turn the car on in the passenger back inside panel. Ours is the V6 XL version. The back center console cup holders are easy to break and the TV/DVD system sometimes works. Believe me I love it because we've had it since new and they are our miles. The Car also has electric issues. The passenger side outlet when you plug your phone in, it buzzes out the radio where you can't listen to it. And for fun we added a 2foot light bar to the front.
I have a 2006 GMC Envoy XL SLT, with the I6 4.2L, which I bought used about 6 months ago. At first I had some mixed feelings about it, but the more I drive it, the more I love it. It's a really great, sturdy, high quality vehicle, and the 4 wheel drive is great for winter driving. I've gotten a lot of compliments about it, it's 10 years old, and a lot of people ask me if it's a brand new vehicle! That's how well-built they are.
I just turned 16 in august and I was given a 2005 GMC Envoy SLE 4X4 with the 4.2 inline 6 and I'm really nervous with it do you have any advice with it? I get my permit next month or so.
Hey David, wow, that's great they gave you a GMC Envoy! Is it the regular length or the XL? I really don't think there's anything to be nervous about, I'm sure you're going to love it. Of course you want to be careful with it just because it's a really nice vehicle. Maybe just a couple things to keep in mind are that it's higher off the ground, so you have to go slower around corners, otherwise it can feel wobbly if you take your turns too fast. Also, as with all 4x4's, you should only use the 4 wheel drive in snowy or icy conditions, or else sand and gravel (rain is iffy, but probably not). Definitely not on dry pavement, that will put too much stress on the drivetrain. But I'm really happy to hear you'll be driving a GMC Envoy, welcome to the family! :)
+Alessandro Jaker mine is the regular envoy with leather it maybe the base model the originally came with cloth and the previous owner did leather upholstery :) my old fourth grade teacher gave it to me for free for my 16th birthday it's soooo comfy I fall asleep in it sometimes after I park it in the driveway haha
Wow, that was really nice of your teacher to give that to you. Yeah they are very durable vehicles so even if something needs replacing (like the upholstery) the rest of the vehicle will last for years and years. Anyways, really glad you're enjoying it. Have fun!
Bought one used ,very interesting vehicle. 175,000 miles on the V8 ,I wouldn't blink an eye buying one with that break in milage. This thing is loaded. I wouldn't have looked at one with an I6 Engine. Nice LOADED 👍👍👍 vehicle.
Wow this is one of the cleanest I've seen since they were brand new. In todays time its hard to find an Envoy or Trailblazer that someone actual to care of.
lol yeah thats why I wanted put the meat of the Audible information towards the end of the video so it wouldn't interrupt the viewing experience. I am hoping to do more videos like this in the future so I can avoid all the beginning and mid-roll ads!
I have one of these. A 2008 GMC Envoy Denali. Still thinking of how I should mod it. I can't find much about it online with people doing things to them :(
Try Trailvoy. It's a good forum. One thing I can tell you from my experience with my Beloved Trailblazer; Get used to the stock wheels. GM, in all its wisdom, made the bolt pattern a 6x127mm or 6x5 inch instead of the Usual 6 lug GM bolt pattern of 6x132mm or 6x5.5 inch. Also, make sure you take care of it and it will take care of you. These body on frame, Rear wheel drive beasts arn't coming back.
The platform for the GMC Envoy, Chevy Trailblazer, Isuzu Ascender, Saab 9-7X, Oldsmobile Bravada, and Buick Rainier, and the Chevy SSR is a body on frame design right, and i think it’s a similar design used for the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon.
My wife and I each have one. Cons: No storage space up front, and a very cheap plastic rear cap that houses the third high mount brake light. They break from car washers, and are very expensive for an item that weight one pound. The rear tailgate roof spoiler/cap is hard to find, the light insert can be found on Amazon.
I love my 04 Envoy SLT. It's off the road for now because I destroyed the brakes (had no money to get 'em fixed). One thing you forgot to mention was the Key Lock. If you try to turn off the car and take the key out whilst in Drive, it won't come out. This becomes an issue when your battery is 100% dead. If it's 100% dead and you put the key in, you can't get it out of the ignition unless it's jumped.
I remember back in 2003 my dad was looking for SUV so we went to Chevrolet and GMC dealer the guys wanted to sell on envoy XL to my dad but he was I don't like it so he told them he was going to come back tomorrow he was going to think about so we went to another gmc dealer and he found the Yukon Denali he wanted so he test drive three different denalis and he like the Yukon more because the engine option he bought the Denali XL full loaded with tv vhs and DVD player it had everything you wanted in early 2000 lol he still has the truck it has over 200k miles
This is one underrated SUV.
And I could say this holds a title of a true crossover name.
I came back 5 years later to reminisce again about the GMC Envoy XUV, I love this SUV and the way this person reviewed it, kind of makes me love the car even more.
One of the coolest suv's ever made..... Versatile like the Pontiac Aztek but easier on the eye. Wish we had cars like the XUV here today..... :-(
Get a used one! Youll probably be an expert mechanic after trying to fix all the power windows and other complications lol

Thank you so so much for reviewing older cars again, like you used to. Seeing reviews of newer cars is nice, but we need a refresher once in a while haha.

I much prefer video reviews of affordable junkers us plebs could afford than the supercars. Keep up the great work!
After seeing this review I can honestly say I have a new respect for this vehicle.

That's a nice sounding engine.
Mr Azoz I agree
Love my XUV! Under 100,000 miles and in great shape.
Now THIS is what I need in a couple years.
I still have an Envoy XUV (2005) today, it's one of my daily drivers. I usually pick my niece up in it.
Wow I never realized how versatile these things were. Great video!
I've gotten a lot of compliments about it, it's 10 years old, and a lot of people ask me if it's a brand new vehicle! That's how well-built they are.

Yeah, this is way better than getting interrupted. You still are earning money and satisfying the viewers at the same time.
I really like this car...
That 5 3L V8 is really proper.
Love seeing the "average joe" cars just as much as the new Chiron or Rolls' thanks Kyle!!!
I love when you review non new cars like you used too!
The innovation is impressive, can you find any vehicle as versatile with thoughtful touches such as this one, today?
You should do a review on a Pontiac Aztek!
do it!!!
the car that made me lose respect for Pontiac

Today was the first time I’ve ever seen this car. They need to bring this back. Rivian needs a version of this or Toyota
Chevys/gmcs older interiors look awesome still, even by today's standards
For some reason i like this car because of the taillights, they look better than the standard envoy :P
Nice design and strong engine, as my first initial impressions.
You did an excellent job. Very thorough and a great vernacular.
What convertible is that at the start? At first I thought it was a first-gen Sebring.
I have the same exact truck and I love it had it for a while now
4 Wheel Drive 9:08
This might be my favorite of all the vehicles in the platform, probably next to the Buick Rainier or maybe the Saab 97X.
I love that GM interior sound when you open the door or have to put on your seatbelt, not annoying, not loud and nice

I love look at old cars like this
I was actually wanting to see this XD I have a regular I6 04' Envoy, I've been wanting to see the XUV (: Thanks Kyle!
I love watching you videos but this time I had 3 ads in the video and it says it was ad free, no biggie but it was the first time that it happend.

I'm interested in getting one of these for a project/daily driver, which motor doe the v8 4X4 come with?
My mom used to have this car but with the I6. Miss it so much :(
I have one! Want mine? You can relive your memories with it!
These are so cool! Actually had one of these for a week while the car was in shop
Something about gmc vortec engine that I love!
Have you driven any other hummer h3t alphas since 2010.
love the jacket, where do you do research for all the cars and how long is the process ?
I was wondering if you can do a review on the 2016 Toyota Tundra
Such an American car, combining as many random power contraptions to try and bridge the gap between SUV and pickup truck. I like it.
you really make me want to buy all of the cars you review.!!
You can have my envoy then! Lol
How's your 2007 Lexus ES350 last year?
What exhaust is that I’m getting one of these from a family member
"Thanks to Audible this is an ad-free video."
The irony.
Can you please make video starting up personal vehicles.
That grill in the B pillar isn't for the Onstar, it's the temp sensor for the digital climate control.
It's always nice to see cars of this age in such good condition, shame about the pin stripe though.
