    • @ailurophile17
      @ailurophile17 8 лет назад +3

      I seriously doubt it's that simple (or simplistic). WB isn't Disney and they don't have a history of courtroom copyright cases. There are lots of other early SCTV segments that never made it to the collected DVD series and "Quincy: Cartoon Coroner" is just one of many tidbits that should be available for us rabid SCTV partisans. I recall lots of vignettes from SCTV's heyday that didn't show up on Shout Factory's collection so where are they?

    • @russellblake6471
      @russellblake6471 4 года назад +2

      @@ailurophile17 The Shout Factory sets collected the NBC 90-minute shows from the early to mid 1980s. None of the 70s material (the early years of SCTV) was released on those sets.
      When Nick at Nite broadcast re-runs of SCTV in the late 1980s, they showed syndicated versions of the show in 30 minute episodes, which included stuff from the mid to late 70s with Harold Ramis.
      Shout Factory also released a 3-DVD set called "SCTV: The Best of the Early Years" in 2006, but I have never seen it, so I do not know how much of the early material that these DVDs contain. Your best bet for the early shows seems to be here on You Tube.
      One channel (CanuckTV/ruclips.net/channel/UCsSoGF-V5KOHbSudeKAq6swvideos) has many of the half hour syndicated versions uploaded, including the early shows from the mid to late 70s. Hope this info helps.

      @ailurophile17 4 года назад +1

      @@russellblake6471 Russell: Well, after four years I was certainly surprised to get a response, I must say! Thanks for the info--I did purchase the DVD set of "The Early Years," hoping that some of my favorite sketches would be on it, but was disappointed in not finding the "Quincy: Cartoon Coroner" and a few others as well. I know they were shown on the broadcasts during the early and mid-80's though. I'm one of those people who actually requires a physical artifact in my possession, whether it be a record album, a 45, or in this case, a DVD. I suppose it's having a "collector's mentality" and at this stage of the game, all I can do is echo the sentiments of that famous philosopher and aver, "wottayagonnado?" Thanks anyway!
