  • Today on episode 747 of Let There Be Talk I have 2 amazing guest Alexis Bloom & Svetlana Zill, directors of the documentary Catching Fire the Story of Anita Pallenberg.
I saw this documentary last week and I can't recommend it enough.
Anita was a fantastic Actress, Model and a massive Muse to members of the Rolling Stones.
Anita dated Brian Jones before finiding here way into Keith Richards life which quickly escalated in to a full on rock n roll outlaw adventure.
This women's story is absolutely incredible and very dark and the Doc pulls No Punches.
The Words come from an unpublished memoir Pallenberg wrote before her death in 2017, narration voiced by Scarlett Johansson.
Sit back and enjoy this episode and don't forget to catch the film in Theaters next week and streaming platforms May 3rd 2024

Great interview. I’m so glad you mentioned that women made this film. I think telling Anita’s story needed to come from women, even though Marlon and Keith had a hand in its delivery. She, to myself and I’m guessing other women who are fans of this band in this particular era, was the embodiment of sovereignty. You mention she was the gf of 3 of the Stones but she is not defined by that fact. She held that shit together at Nellcote. I haven’t seen the film but I hope they talk about her being the force that kept things together in that period. I have been a Stones historian since I was 11 and this film is one of the most anticipated stories in the never ending tales told about these people. Anita was a physically gorgeous women, but a masculine force who rolled with and dove deep into the experiences of an oftentimes dangerous and chaotic life. Like you said, Dean, these people were Pirates. And she was at the helm. Long live Anita! Her glory, mistakes and experiences are fierce and seldom actualized even in the world of rock n roll. My heart goes out to Marlon and Angela. I’m glad to hear Marlon has a wonderful life. When your parents are junkies it can go all sorts of ways. I’m sure that tragedy plays front and center in this film. Man, can’t wait to watch it! 👍🕯️🕯️🕯️

“Apparently he had the gig of his life” sounds like something that someone that never had to work would say lmfao.
