How are Yanks so blind to Jet Li? - he performs hardly any of the action in any of his films. Look at his HK output, doubled to a ridiculous extent. In the very basic US flicks he performs more of his own action but the takes are shorter and the action is far less complex. But Dragon Fight - mediocre, but Shaolin Temple series - nothing compared to the Shaw Brothers Shaolin cycle of the early 70's plus he's very much outshone by many of his co-stars including one of his most regular stunt doubles - Hung Yan Yan. Even in Shaolin Temple 3, action directed by Lau Kar Leung (with whom Li clashed despite the former being a bona fide martial arts master), Shaw Brothers stuntman Ma Lau performed the most impressive action for Li. Open your eyes when you watch "his" films, Jet Li is nothing in the grand scheme of things. He's traded off of his reputation of being a "5 time Wu Shu champ" but that has not translated well to film tbh.
Jet Li has a great screen presence, he is a legit Martial Artist , and he's a part of world history as a he performed Kung Fu before Richard Nixon at the White House. He also sustained some sort of injury which hindered his Wushu career and lead to acting. His performances in Fist of Legend, Hero, Tai Chi Master, Once Upon a time in China, Fearless, and even Lethal Weapon 4 all establish him as an Action super star. General audiences care little if he did all his own stunts or not. Do you know Jackie Chan did not do every single one of his own stunts either? Jackie Chan was injured a lot for sure, and when he was injured, someone had to stand in place for him. The safety of high valued actors is important in these days also, stunt men have jobs and actors have their jobs.
Ong Bak 2 is the best one. This man knows it all
Nah, it's good but far from the best.
I'd love to see a full version of the Overdubbed Samurai movies in WU Tang Saga?
They were hilarious!
This appears to be a small part of an interview...
