Most of them need slight adjustment from factory as they are likely calibrated from cold powerup and not after a warming period that's needed. It's just not cost effective.
Hi Mike! I really like all of your repair videos on your channel. You explain things very well. Is it possible to send you a radio to repair? I live in germany. Please let me know. Thank you.
You can but shipping isn't going to be cheap. Not sure about the trip from Germany to here but shipping rates from the USA to other countries is really high. Just add @gmail.com to my RUclips ID to email me.
nice one mike. i have a galaxy fc30 counter on my 1978, 148gtl It took me a bit to get it to work correctly the only deal is these counters not read SSB correctly it don't have the offset so it's really only correct on AM.
If I was still working at Hatachi Computer Systems your soldering would be borderline failing. For surface mount components, try using just the solder you have on the tip of your soldering iron. If your prep work was done correctly, the component and the board will pull just enough solder to bond the two together and that is what you want.
Darryl May I'm not trying to be a jerk here but borderline fail? For which class? 1, 2, or 3? I am currently in the industry and have class 3 certifications in SMT and through hole. His work would need to be inspect under the proper magnification and for class 2 at most.
Sorry but my initial training working with SMT was with NASA. When I was trained at Hitachi they didn't teach about any classifications. Maybe because I worked at a manufacturing facility. And, again, things could have changed since I last worked in the industry in 2002.
Mr mike, you are amazing. I watch your channel and learn a lot. I a few radios that need some help. Will you please contact me back and I will get them coming your way. Thank you. Glenn
Very informative video. I'd like to ask, what is a decent frequency counter you may recommend for my superstar 3900G? That I can solder on myself. Thx.
Galaxy FC347 6 Digit Frequency Counter for DX CB & 10 Meter Radios Blue Connex+ on E-Bay webtron-x (36720 )99.8% Positive feedback buy it now price US $61.99 and FREE Shipping.
@@MusicMinisterJP7 The night that I posted they were $49.95 plus shipping - cannot remember the last price I paid for shipping was less than $9.00 for Priority Mail Shipping. That is why I also posted the E-Bay listing for the lowest price and FREE Shipping as some are charging an outrageous price for the same item. I have bought many of them and never a problem so far.
@@williamcolvin3609 Thanks, I did notice the $61.99 on Ebay. Another question arose.. My super Star 3900G twin finals does not have that black female connector for this meter. I am wondering if its a gigantic procedure to have to hard wire it, if it can be wired in. I'm thinking of going this way bcuz I misplaced the frequency chart for this radio. I also think its alot better.
Excellent job.
Thanks Mike
Love your videos!
Ah, my Sunday binge on Mike's Radio Repair. Your audio sounds much better.

This guy can talk the skin off a grape
I wish I had his knowledge base about electronics
I adjusted the little pod without doing all that, just a hair turn with the clarifier at 12 o'clock
How about solder pastor your smd cap and a rework station blower, but your way may be faster

Check out Copper Electronics - they usually have a sale on these counters for around 40 dollars which is lower than anywhere else I have found.
