  • Now THIS is what it's allllll about! When you're as good as Fred Kaplan, Sax Gordon, Junior Watson, and Kedar Roy (and guest Rena Beavers on drums!), anything and everything is possible! The only thing you won't get is "bad" music...it will be nothin' but the best, and there WILL be a groove!
Jimmy McGriff, Gene Harris, Stanley Turrentine, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Grant Green, Ray Brown and many more would be happy listenin' to this talented group on stage...whether they are playing blues, or soul jazz, because they get it...the line between isn't as wide as some might think. Ahhhh, yes!
*** NEW 2012 releases out from both Junior Watson and Fred Kaplan featuring this stellar line-up along with Richard Innes on drums at

Junior... you are so right, there are not a whole lot of horn players out there these days that I can stand to listen to for more than 30 seconds! Doug James and Gordon Beadle are a rare breed in these troubled times!!

Reminds me of Booker T. and the Mg's. Awesome groove!

A little Jimmy McGroove, but could be any of the swingin' B3 players of that era. Scary solo by Gordon.
