Honestly, for me, that is the perfect weather to visit a castle like this one. I absolutely love foggy days! And the castle looks ethereal almost like a dream.
When i went there a few years ago the traffic was crazy , nowhere to park but luckily i rented 1 of those little tiny mini cars so i squuezed into a spot
In Germany there are very few castles, even if tourism tours show a lot of them, but the true is that more than 90% were built in the 19 century ac when castles were no longer useful. Contrary to Portugal where castles were used in many medieval wars.
They call it Moorish castle, but I don't believe it was actually entirely built by the Moors, it could of been rebuilt by the Moors, but no where in the Moorish world nor in the Islamic world is there any castle with the same architecture nor the same character, just like it was redone again when the Templars chased out the Moors, they actually found remains from the bronze age inside the castle grounds.
Exactly, because the moors and arabs were greatest in castle buildings, all old north african cities have 1 ksar at least. Almost all portuguese castela were built by arab/berber people, Afonsinhos just made some changes in many of them and build a couple of new ones, .. good video.
O Castelo de Sintra não colapsou por causa do "terramoto", foi por ter sido abandonado porque Sintra era sítio proibido a estrangeiros e não era permitida construção...só depois das invasões francesas é que a proibição desapareceu. Daí a quase totalidade dos edifícios ser posterior a 1820. Quanto a castelos medievais, Sintra tem 2 castelos: o do monte anexo a Sintra e o outro em Colares, na nascente do Rio das maças. Ao tempo de Duarte D`Armas (sec XVI) o castelo de Sintra já estava em ruínas e acreditava-se ser a residência do diabo , o monte era sítio de penitência de multiplas ordens religiosas que depois foram substítuidas por cultos maçonicos (Sintra é bem capaz de ter a maior concentração mundial de tuneis, poços e locais de iniciação)

Saudades! One of my favorites was Obidos. We lived in Portugal for 14 years and used to take people to see different places
I still have many dear friends there and they keep asking when I’m coming for a visit. Hopefully before I die and can save up enough $.
This time last year I was in this exact spot. The only difference is that it was a sunny day. Loved it.

Do you anything about St. MICHAEL'S Castle or other wise known as "Mansanto Castle"

@@adelking66 Natives or not they were muslims so they were identified as "Moors" "Mouros" and Andalusia was very far from Lisbon.
