I also have this same bag in black. I absolutely love it. It's the perfect size. Fits all essentials with room to spare. Don't have trouble getting in and out of it. Mine also has the squeaky strap issue. So I also took off the strap and put on a different chain strap and it totally elevated the look.

The first thing I thought when you mentioned the squeaking was “it’s not broken in” lol. Try a leather conditioner, that’s what I do. It softens the leather so it won’t be so stiff. I use Apple Brand.
YES!!! The squeak drove me crazy too. I had the pebbled and it squeaked. Also the bag basically needs to be opened and closed with two hands. If I’m out and about I want to be able to access my stuff using one hand.

I had the larger one. When I'd go to get things out, the snaps would pop open and it would take too long to close if I was rushing (like putting away a book when rushing out of the train) so I'd just have to rush around with it not closed right, or be fiddling with it while people are trying to rush around me (embarrassing). Also I like wearing my bags on my shoulder and it was too long even on the shortest setting. I loved the quality and look though, so considering trying again with this small size.
This video really helped me decide on this bag. I totally agree with your assessment of the cons of this bag. Because of those cons, this is not the bag for me.
I feel you. I have some noise sensitivity but the more you wear it… the sound eventually goes away. I have it in taupe textured leather and I love it. I’m considering getting the numero sept now… I gave my mom my coach Cassie to replace it
The squeak, yes OMG I just bought the textured nano in Taupe and it squeakes too. Cheapens it IMO. Other comments in some video said even her Chanel bag does that, and maybe can be solved with leather conditioner. But I have other bags with similar features and they don’t squeak. And also the strap has this plastic (?) coating on the side that rubs tightly against the D ring, making it hard to adjust. So hard and when I moved hole, the previously used hole looked rather ugly. I just bought the taupe but already thinking of selling it. I don’t like the saffiano type of finish of the textured one as well. Thanks for the vid! Tou really spoked my mind! I have the backpack style of this bag in taupe with pebbled leather. I was really impressed with the quality when unboxing and think Polene is an underrated brand. My only complaint is that I wish the backpack had a top handle. It would also be awesome if there was a boutique near me (SF Bay Area). I like seeing and trying things out in person, especially since I'm wary about international shipping and possible returns.

The shipping always gets me...makes me not want to buy the bag sometimes 😂 I definitely think polene is underrated. You cant beat the quality for the price range.
To deal with the squeaky sound and difficulty of undoing the leather strap, try applying leather lotion to the strap leather part and the glazing side. It will reduce friction because it is due to dryness.

I also have it in another type of leather (whatever their equivalent of saffiano is) so maybe it’s the material that makes the noise? Thanks for the review, I noticed that squeeky noise too. Do you find it hard to close the bag sometimes? Its kind of like difficult to line the lock together and I find the leather a bit tough or is it just because its new?
I ended up changing the strap to my chain strap to avoid the squeaking. Like the bag so much more now. I also noticed the closure is a little hard to align. I got used to it after some time. I think it will get easier once the leather softens 😊
Hey! What's your impression on the strap? I've just watched another review and the youtuber complained that the strap was kind of sharp on the edges (where the glazing meets the stitching or something). I'm afraid I would keep snagging my clothes with this :(
I’m not a fan of the strap because it’s stiff and makes a squeaky noise. I don’t notice it being sharp but I took the straps off and use this bag with a gold chain instead. Such a game changer!

I had a issue with a squeaky strap on a Mulberry bag years ago I solved it but rubbing a small amount of Vaseline on the area! It's a lovely bag x

Another good way to reduce the squeaky noise is to rub wax paper on the hardware.
