Irvin was saved by Solstice Sanctuary carers from a killing pen at an animal auction. He could barely stand on his feet when he was found. With the love and care Irvin not only survived, he thrived.

I saw on national news that many countries have made it illegal to stop killing the donkeys in their countries! They showed stacks of dead donkeys that were dead and being sent to China! They said China was using their dehydrated hides for the compound! They said there were natural compounds they could use to make the same drugs! I hope that the donkeys will be saved! They are being used and abused wrongly! Send me the petition if it is still available!
It's outrageous that this happens but I read that in Africa they are banning this dreadful practice. 🙏🐴@@daveshoemaker7137

@@lamwilshangdhi612 I didn't find one! But apparently there is a big problem for the poor donkeys! I was watching a public broadcasting report and it was so sad! They said the poor people in many countries had donkeys for a lifetime and they were a vital companion and used for work and travel and treasured for their abilities! They have had their donkeys stolen in those countries because China is ordering their hides for their drugs! They showed piles of dead donkeys! It was sickening! They said there are other ways China can make their drugs besides using the hides! Africa and several other countries had made it a federal crime to harvest donkeys for meat and hides! The report said that many families are too poor to buy another donkey and afraid that even if they get one it may too get stolen! It's so sad that their donkeys are being stolen for greed! Unless China stops using their hides there will always be donkeys stolen from families! So sad! I know of a local company that china sends dehydrated supposedly bones to make a specialized powder! I could never understand why they would send to the US for processing when they could do it themselves? This small company was almost closed and then China couldn't send enough to be processed and they tripled in size! It's sad to think of what goes on and unless people speak out we will never know!

We rescued two from a sanctuary, they are full size males. We have had them almost ten years and they totally rule the small farm. Our two sheep are in love with them and follow them everywhere as if they were rockstars. One in particular is the boss and a total clown. The other must have been very badly treated. No matter how hard I try I can’t get him to come around. He is scared stiff of men. He obeys but you can tell he is scared. My big boy Hamish demands hugs, loves and carrots so we’re good. Even the sheep get scratches and carrot🥰 xxx
So wonderful you gave two donkeys a loving forever home. Don’t give up on your scared boy, even after all this time. One day he’ll surprise you I’m sure. Some animals just need a lot longer to come around & recover from abuse. Have you tried Liberty training with him? And having the men in your life just spend time with him & around him, with no pressure or need to do anything? Particularly the most important one to you so it’s less stressful. It’s best to never have him give requests until he’s got that trust, so your boy can learn a different way of hanging out with a male. Since they’re curious little things, having your man sit quietly with their back to him while they do something - tie knots in rope, make something from hay, make a donkey treat etc. No rush. No need to move for a couple of hours. Just small quiet movements. Just being there & building trust by not putting pressure on your boy. I bet curiosity wins & your scared little boy will come closer to find out what he’s doing. And the more “no pressure time” they spend together, the more they’ll forge a bond of trust until the day your little fluffy long-eared man will voluntarily reach out to your man. Good luck. I know that after ten years it might seem like nothing will change, but if you find a different way of doing things & keep trying, you can break the fear & mistrust habit your little guy has. I recommend watching “The Herd” which is a week at an equine therapy property. Just watching the way the animals all interact & are so calm & relaxed with the people is a truly beautiful experience. It’s very relaxing too, so worth watching when you have some time to yourself. Just seeing the horses in particular, who choose to snuggle with people who were strangers at the start of the week. No pressure. Soft eyes, soft mouths, calming sounds. It’s really beautiful.
See if he would like sugar cubes to sweeten him up. ❤

“Our” animals. That’s part of the Problem. We consider non human animals as our possessions. This, in the minds of many, makes them objects, at least when it comes to cows, pigs and chickens.
I think donkeys deserve a lot more credit than they get for being smart and social.
At the beginning he just looked broken and completely depressed, like he had given up on life.
You did a wonderful thing bringing him back to life and it is obvious he loves you for it.
whoever neglected him let it go and then they had No use (or any) and discarded him. SO cruel. Perhaps they will see their wrong, and change.

It's worse than this. Pregnant horses end up at the slaughterhouse too. This practice needs to end immediately. The cruelty is a reflection of how we humans are found wanting. We are supposed to be caretakers of this planet and as a whole, we are failing. It is people like this who give me a glimmer of hope that maybe all is not lost.

You can't save all the animals from slaughter. But you can join others by not eating them or using their products. There is no such thing as humane slaughter. Go vegan.

Animals will never get fair treatment until people stop considering them “food”. Protein is pushed to the point of utter toxicity. 40% of people are obese, 30% overweight and 30% normal weight. The animal protein comes with lots of fat, promotes disease. My weight is down 80 lbs. from when I went vegan. I wear size 4 jeans. It is now hard to find sizes small enough to fit me as the majority’s appetite just does not shut off. With being vegan, you feel full when you eat and there’s not the temptation to eat more.
I believe the Standard American Diet is addictive and exploitive. Veganism reflects our true nature: to love animals because they are a joy, not because they taste good on the end of a fork.
I wanted the change, I was in a wheelchair with gouty arthritis. 3 weeks of going in the right direction, my joints stopped hurting all the time. It’s only gotten better. Just like the donkey has joy to run and move now, so do I.

Jesus chose a donkey to ride into Jerusalem before He knew He was going to lay His Life down for His Chosen. What a special donkey, chosen for Him to ride on to announce the coming of The King. Sad though, isn't it? Not all will believe. What a cute, energetic donkey, and I'm glad to see his wonderful personality come out of his shell. It's kinda like us, when He calls us out of our shell, before we knew Him, and He gives us His Joy!❤ cheers.

It's unfortunate that so many animals like dogs and cats as well as farm animals end up discarded for no other reason than they're no longer useful or the owners just tire of caring for them. Thank you for saving Irvin. He would be a wonderful addition to any family.

Thanks for saving this fela, but to any who have heard a donkeys, Brea, they are the call to love. I had a donkey who lived next door who would jump his fence, then mine to hang out with my horses . And for the call to dinner . Then you'd hear the wind up as he ran to the front padock for dinner and some lovin he just loved to have those big ears scratched. I tried to buy him, but the owner wouldn't sell him but said he sent him to live at his brother's place .he was the sweetest little fella

Animals are NOT STUPID! They pick up on how people feel about them and they react accordingly. Irvin knew how he was being treated, and that they didn't care for him, so he just started to give up on life.
They have so many other inner qualities, and traits, that people don't know about, but animals do!
And they have the same feelings that we do, so please remember that.

Im amazed that you were able you gain Irvin's trust after what he's been through. Usually it takes quite a bit to gain a donkey's trust, but you guys seemed to do it in about a month or so. That just goes to show how kind of people you are. ❤️

In my humble opinion , someone should be charged with animal cruelty. Life imprisonment or the treatment they have bestowed upon the animal
livestock just have a diferent welfare criteria I guess. Puppy Mills get away with their cruelty because of laws. WE NEED TO DEMAND BETTER WELFARE LAWS AND LAW MAKERS
