1993 Honda Del Sol: Rejuvenation

- Hello everyone,
In this episode we meet Joe and his awesome Honda Del Sol! He has owned the vehicle for only six months but it is not his first Honda and it shows. He has tastefully modded the vehicle with the essentials. A small drop and wheels and a few aesthetic pieces give this Del Sol the perfect look. Although the Del Sol is not a common chassis, Joe does not mind it at all. He has done his research and has blended various parts from various models. We hope that he does realize his dream of one day owning a RHD imported Del Sol. For now, thank you for your time Joe and I hope you guys all enjoy it! Thank you for the support everyone! #automotiveanatomy
Del sol's dont get the respect it deserves. Shit is simple and clean. Gotta respect the build.
Cuzz they heavy, to much body flex
Ye indeed. Its a badass platform
@KONRAD no they are heavy people peopleuse eg Ek for the wider wheel base something the crx don't have.
@KONRAD no can not cut down a del sol weight as much as a eg. They have factory reinforcement because they are target top
Sadly the D Engines didn´t get enough love. Now it´s really difficult to get parts for the D Engines. Del Sols are really expensive in germany. I wish i was born 10 years earlier. 💔
I'm 30yrs old and got me a clean 93 del sol bard with a gsr swap. I won't ever leave the honda scene especially because my son has the same passion for cars as I do
Love to hear that Freddy.
That's so awesome!!! Keep loving Hondas!!
Stupidddd clean🔥🔥. 90’s were the best year of all JDM cars
90s are the best era!!
So true!
Big facts
Really cool 😎 video - love that everyone in the family is getting a del sol
Haha awesome! Thank you for the support. I am glad Del Sol has a small but strong community.
I'm 37 in a sol owner myself. I love how you keep it clean its the same look I'm going with my car.
My boy joe is awesome! Thanks for the shout out joe! And I agree with the fact that the delsol gets no aftermarket support. The only reason is has some support is because it has an eg chassis. If it weren’t for that we wouldn’t even have coil overs
Sweet! I am glad your keeping the chassis alive!
I feel ya. Im 34. Love my 99 si.
Hahha 👍 keep Hondas on the road.
I'm 38 love my ek
@@jasonlay9492 hell hea. We need more OGs with them 90s car
OMG I am 30 yrs old and this dude is soo like me... I was broke 10 yrs ago working shitty jobs cant afford to fix up any car... now i am blessed driving 18 wheelers for a living and drive a 98 ek hatch and 1986 el camino
I just bought one two weeks ago and I'm 38 haha. Been looking for months and only because the idea came up haha. But I was determined to get a Del Sol...crazy how much they are going up in price! But I can't wait to give it a paint job. Mine is Dark Green but I will want it all black...don't know yet haha. I don't want to do too much! I like the simple and clean look.
Congrats bro! Take your time to build it.
Congrats on the awesome find and a great look. Honda4Life!!!
Honda 4 life!!!
Im 37 and a sol owner myself. I love the clean look that's what I'm going with my car.
Keep building man!
My favorite car!My first car also!!!!My first car I love it the American and Canadian vtec version
Awesome I have 3 sols two black one red. Love it man you will have it all one day! I want an orginal jdm right hand drive too........
That paint is still dripping! So wet! Beautiful 🤩
Yes it was!
There is so cut off on liking modded cars. Yea I am starting to see this a lot more and I love it. Even the CRX's. I like that little wing too. That valve cover is beautiful.
I always loved the Del Sol. I wanted one so bad in the 90's. Still a cute car.
Love the Honda! very tidy!
👍 thank you
I also have a EK hatch but not even as close of a fun drive my del sol is so fun to drive it’s also supercharged it’s like driving a go cart so much fun
Nice ride.
90s all dayy
90s for ever man
Clean and simple. Super cool daily!👏👍
Yes I need a clean daily.
I just picked up a del sol 1.7l vtec and am going to redo the paint black like this and bronze wheels. I can't wait to get it lookin nice. I had a b16 del sol all red that was stolen in high school. Also was my first car.
The paint really makes the car pop. Where did Joe get it done?
Yes it looked great. I think a buddy of his did the work
Super clean del sol mad props 👍
I actually fit 4 people in my del sol back in high school one day
I was the OEM only guy from my 1990 prelude, 90 civic and 95’ accord exr coupe…all changed as an old guy…bolt on tuned 09’ rdx, didnt have RUclips Univ back then or online parts.
Facts, thanks for the support 👌👌
My buddy here in Toronto had one with a K swap and got featured in a big car mag back in the day. He sold it and the guy trashed it, I was so sad
Nobody will take care of things like the builder
I just got a 94 Honda del Sol with a B16 under the hood the guy that owned it was a mechanic and the car sat in the garage for 11 years. It just started sitting in the yard for the last 2 years and it's up on blocks. I've got to find two tires for the rear throw a battery in it and it runs I've already had it started and idling on the blocks. And it has a B16 swap
As a del sol owner, were the forgotten Honda. I love how quirky these cars are. Theres only 3 in my town, and about 8-10 total within the northern half of my state.
Same here just turn 30 and I'm looking for one now
i'm right on time!
Thank you for the support 👍
I had a 94 that got stolen--RIGHT after I did a killer paint job. Now I have a 97 (but I switched out the front bumper for the original style. It's got some other mods: It's got a 1.8 liter Type R Acura motor, stainless steel braided brake lines, ceramic headers, it's lowered, with beefed up coil-overs, and the hood, roof, headliner, roll bar cover, trunk, and rear facia are all carbon fiber. Doing the roof and headliner was a mistake, really, because the stock aluminum top weighs about the same, and the carbon fiber makes noise if the top is up (which it never is unless it's raining.) One thing I did was get billeted aluminum levers for removing the roof, to replace the plastic ones, which tend to break. I also got JDM interior door handles that have little lights built into them.
I used to auto-cross it a lot:

Thank you for sharing your story! I appreciate your time watching.
Damnnn thats so clean
Cool story , Red Del Sol was my first car in high school in 2000’s. Looking for one project just like yours clean and black or red.
Lazymangarage getting some love!!! Clean Del Sol. Great video. I love that shift knob.
Thank you for the support 👍
THATS MY DAD
You have an awesome dad!!
You mean the owner of Honda Del Sol car ?
He looks so young like in his twenties
Wow. Cool skills Joe has!
I have a 94 del sol for 10 years now.
Wow 10 yrs hopefully 20 more to go
Before it got stolen, my 94 S got a solid 39 mpg on the highway.
I love my del sol omg there so good
as a sol owner he did this baby right!
Dude this car is mint Wow such a clean example he got it from the first owner
That is awesome man. Simple is good 👍
I remember these when came out brand new! Clean car!
Dis you like them right away?
Wow… great find/story. Congrats and enjoy!
Glad you enjoyed it
Dope video bro love your channel, Keep up the good work 💯🙏🏼👍🏼
Thank you for the support 👍
Clean ride Joe. Just picked up my first 93 Del Sol Si with 94600 miles here in Arizona. All original stock equipment, black just like your car. Great running little car. Thanks for the video Automotive Anatomy. Keep them coming.
Keep it simple and on the road 👍
Where in AZ I'm in Phoenix and am looking for one lol
My first heavily modded car I owned as a Del sol, where I engine swap, turbo you name it. But a glaring issue became clear the chassis frame is just too flexy to be a good platform for Motorsports. If you park you car at an angle on your driveway you won’t be able to take off you hardtop or put it back on. This pretty much tells how soft the frame is. This is a shame because I loved the look and size of the car. Any other civic would be a better platform for modding. Sold the car soon after and moved to other platforms. It does look clean lowered and could be a nice cruiser if performance is not the goal I guess.
i have a jdm sir 1992 sol out here in New Zealand its super fun to drive through the corners , sticks to the road well. i think the sir has the double wishbone upgrade , I've owned a few fast cars and this thing is pretty tight and quick on its feet
thumbs up for keeping it mostly OEM. Underrated car, it just need to be sharpened it a little bit. The roof crossbar is cool but may need some padding :). I have a green ´92 myself.
That valve cover looked cool.
On the *prowl* , for one of these. Hopefully it will happen!
I wish Honda would just rebuild the same Del Sol model from 1995 to 97... 145 hp, 170 hp and 185 hp!
That would be Awesome!!
"stock as hell" "completely stock" - Proceeds to show it is dropped, non standard wheels, after market steering wheel, modded stick shift, resonator delete. Plans for stock seat removal, turbo...etc etc.
This car WAS a survivor but is definitely well on the way to being highly modified and losing that CLEAN original fit, finish, feel and reliability.
Thank you for taking the time to comment and support the channel. The car is a lovely chassis. I hope more people get into them.
Still looking cleaner than a motherfucker
Literally thinking the same exact thing when watching this video lol
Did he not say “engine is stock”?... that’s what he was talking about.
For real, what the fuck is with that x bar where the roof goes? That thing is ugly af.
Just picked one up yesterday man I’m too stoked!
Congratulations bud. What are the plans for it.
@@AutomotiveAnatomy I picked it up for a daily off this old man that kept it mainly garaged, so keep it oem+
I love these vids man, so much love for their cars
Yes indeed. As long as you continue to leave a positive comment I will continue 👍
I love del sols i own 2 right now 95 1.5 non v amd 1994 vtec 1.6 L ima going TO do before and after on my 94

Yes indeed. Thank you for the support
So cool he slipped an f bomb in and it was just fine. Smooth 😎 I definitely would have gotten bleeped haha
Del Sol, 2 seat coupe. Nice!
Nice car, had one when I was a kid. Wish I never sold it.
Nice
Love this. My del sol is a work in progress. Takes a long time to get that clean.
In high school we called them del slows
I thought 93 del sols didn’t come w a/c? Sold mine 2 years ago and just bought it back yesterday 😭😭 best decision ever lol
Aroldo Rodriguez they had ac my 93 si did what they didn’t have was a passenger airbag which made the dash way better looking 👍
Would of done black rims also
I’m 43 and I have one I also have a crx too love me some Honda’s
Good looking Del Sol! very clean build.
My dream wheels blitz
I just bought one also a 93
i am a del slow owner too~~~
U and me the same I picked up from an old lady she also kept it in the garage, all maintenance recorded, and it was her first car back in 98 second owner, everything bone stock, everything worked, b16a3... I’m 34 I think I love this car, I wanted an S2000 but went with a 90s car. I’m going with the JDM STYLE LOOK, OEM, this is my daily. I’m 2020 this car is a neck breaker I love my daily driver.
Nice Honda del Sol, I have 93 too and i looking to let this car like you car looks.
Awesome example! Great platform to obtain.
Needs to get a eg stock oem lip
Yes a small lip would look good
Goals
Nice ride I’ve seen his del sol on IG. But i need to know what that wing is. That one and the ferio look great on sols
Yes indeed!! 👍
Sweet Sol, would daily it as is myself!
@0:52 had me confused when he said it was a type S. was thinking gray stripe, drum brakes, d15b7 engine but nope, that looks all kinds of SI. Clean ride, I just picked up a 94 black del sol SI from a lady that had it since 1994.
I really want to pick one up myself most likely paint it Black like this one or red
Broo 900 what a steal!!
How do I get a hold of Die hard Del sol!?!?!
Any one???
I have an OEM 1993 Honda del sol. Black with spoiler. Mint original condition. 58k miles. Thoughts on value - sale price?!
Awesome cars too bad at 6,2" it's a little snug for my taste but I've always liked Del sol builds keep up the awesome content. Respect and congrats to this dude for being himself and choosing a different platform.
You can make yourself fit one way or another lol i have seen it on miatas lol thank you for the support.
Automotive Anatomy lol haha yeah i might have to purchase some low max to pull it off brother, blessings .
7:51 Hey, when you go with your all black recaro seats, can I buy your stock seats off of you?
Got a Del Sol, check our group out on FB. Lots of awesome people and support, access to parts and tons of knowledge from the crew. Kool vid too
Thank you for the support!!
What's the group called man I'm about to buy one

Dm him. Hopefully that helps
@@AutomotiveAnatomy where can i contact him? can't find it in the description
Awesomeness
What is the purpose of the cross bar on the top?
I didn’t catch what wheels those are and I searched enkeis online but no luck. What are they?

@@davidd6003 lmao
Good video.
That car is not a Del Sol Type S. It's just a base model 1.5L Del Sol S.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment Andy.
How do I get a hold of die hard del sol?
Is that a delsol shit? Dope
Shirt bro . Love that front lip
Damn I wish I could get more info on that brace. I can't find any info
try to DM him
what do you think is the best, most important mods to do when first starting a del sol build?
Where can i contact "Die hard delsol" ? i want one for my roof also
Im right there with you! The moment I heard the name I went searching...nothing found yet
@@countblah7099 same, i looked everywhere and found nothing lol
I'm asking someone else who has/had one, I'll let you know. I'm surprised someone who makes them when requested doesn't exist out in the open.
ruclips.net/video/8zt3z7Yhn1w/видео.html this is the guy, you can see where he and I are currently talking about it, jump in, it may help motivate the maker.

Is the car good for someone whose 6ft tall? Still learning about this car.
i think you can make it work. Plus, a bucket seat will have you seat lower. I am 5'10 and fit with no issues.
Dudes don't know the difference between a wing and a spoiler.... That's not a wing fellas.
Dude you're an idiot he was making a joke out of it😢😢😢😢😢
I feel like the 4th gen prelude also dosent have a big aftermarket parts
what is the brace strut call on the roof ?
He said the name of the person who makes them. Or DM him 👍
❤️❤️❤️❤️💯👍👍
Dang, I’ve been looking for that wing for a while now. Anyone know the type of wing/lip he has on the back of his Del Sol? I’d like one for mine.
The moldings rare? i had them and took them off because after a BASIC lower kit, they scraped speed bumps. In fact EVERY SINGLE del sol in my state had them. They weren't rare at all....
did he say he only paid 900 for it?
