That is a delightful video!! That redfish was huge. What fun. What I liked about your video is how you fished for a long time without catching, happens more than we are told I think, and then you get into them. How often do you have poor to nonexistent catching?? Keep up the great work, Tom Purtzer
The quality of your videos far exceeds any other RUclipsr out there! Such a joy to watch! I would really enjoy it if you would let us know a bit more about the lures and techniques you use when fishing. I’m still pretty new so learning about how you make the decision to switch tackle, when/why you switch, and what you seek out when the bite is bad would be really helpful!
Thanks for the kind words brother. Good feedback. I actually talked in length about what I did to eventually find that big red, but when I was watching it I was worried it was too much rambling and people would get bored. Some want to learn, others want me to shut up and just show some fish. Hard to find a good middle ground to please everyone. Maybe I'll start producing VLOG's after fishing episodes that are more in-depth breakdowns of my tactics and strategies from the episode before. Could be a cool 1-2 punch.
That was a monster red. Yeah, I wouldn't be too thrilled to attempt that trek through the marsh, but that trick about knocking down the grass... great tip.
There’s a riding the bull kayak tournament 2018 in grand isle, Louisiana on August 24-25. You should check it out. Over 700 kayakers have attended the past couple years.
Awesome! Keep the videos coming, up here in New England waters are freezing over, we need something to help us get through the winter haha. Come up here next year for some striper action!
Robert Field I'm new to striper fishing, just moved to southern RI. The salt ponds are fun, hoping to get a better kayak next year to hit bigger water. Depending on the time of year you go to try different areas, salt ponds in the spring, the cape cod canal in the summer.
Reds have been nailing gold spoons in PAC over the last week and a half. Just like you I hit a bull right on the head with it. It has to be sheer reaction for bulls to just vacuum anything that lands on top them. So much fun
Thanks Daulton! I try to capture a good blend of the artistic shots and the real, raw GoPro stuff. Too much of either one gets dry in my opinion. Glad you're enjoying it!
sweet red man!!! I have a tarpon 120 that is deadly in the shallows, went from hobie outback to wilderness systems tarpon 120. wilderness systems makes some very light, fast, stable boats.
I love to hook up with those reds like the one you caught. We go fishing for reds down in south Texas in the Laguna Madre close to the Intercoastal Canal and sometimes we get lucky and find them and then it is on! Good Luck in the future.
Keep em coming, love the vid's. You will have already worked out, the RADAR needs the flex pod, to stop the gurgle and splash, but you are right, they paddle great - very similar to the Ride to paddle when you don't have the drive in, but with the bonus of being even more stable.
Yeah I know, I forgot it at home for this trip because I brought the Helix motor planning on using that. Once I saw how shallow it was everywhere, I left it in the truck.
Yep, done that before - don't do what some do, and leave the pod in when transporting the yak - good way to loose it. These days, I leave it in the front hatch - cant go anywhere, and that way I always have it.
Another great video Robert! Can you do a gear review on your rod and reel set ups? I’ve been digging your heavier duty red bait cast set up for 20+ videos now. Akios? If you can work it into the reel review, I’m also ready for the Field Trips fishing line lecture. But, if you have to make it a separate video, I’ll be patient.
Thanks Paul! I definitely plan to do a series of videos on my rod, reel, line and tackle setups for different kinds of fishing. That heavier red setup is a Seigler Reels SG on a custom rod built by a guy named Mark Crouse. Stay tuned for the in-depth walkthroughs in the next month or two.
Well this gal wasn't quite this big, and having a kayak adds the advantage of me being able to pull myself to her instead of the other way around, haha.
AWESOME catch! I wish the northeast had some fishing retreats like this. Robert in the beginning of video you said something about testing out the Radar 135, seeing you have fished the gamut of kayaks, and everyone has different needs, can you tell me (all of us) the "pros & cons" of the Radar from your perspective? I, like many others in the market for a pedal drive kayak might find a few tips on helping to eliminate or select features of models that might help decide on a product before scrambling around to paddle them. If you feel it is not appropriate because of manufacture conflict - understand. Thanks for the great entertainment!
No manufacturer conflict brother, I plan on doing a full video review of the boat. I'm not "with" any manufacturer for that exact reason... so I can test out and review whatever I want. No boat is perfect for any situation, so I chose to decline all kayak sponsorship offers so I could stay free to use whatever boats best suit me in different scenarios. Look for the review coming soon.
Thanks to this video I looked at Google maps and Pointe aux Chenes, LA. and found Eddies kayak rentals at the end of the road at Pointe aux Chenes, LA. A call to Eddie and I found out he rents kayaks and one type he rents is a Hobie with the mirage drive. I think I want to get "into" kayak fishing and plan to rent from Eddie to try it out before I drop $3000+ on a Hobie kayak. love you videos. Hope I will soon be a yak fisherman myself.
sick fish man congrats on it thanks 4 another amazing video its 4am n im watching u to get pumped while eating breakfast b4 i go out for dawn patrol fishing :)
Robert Field nope but s guy swamped me out i was in s lil canale he he came by in s cruze ship n litterly cazed surfable waves that crashed over the front. of my lil john boat like 4 gallons of water came in :( the canal was like 7 car lanes wide all i could do was thank him n give him the bird :) but got 1 trout so didnt get skunked m i dont expect u tp read all this or reply but thanks soooop much for the og reply happy holiday man
Nice red. I caught 5 big reds like her. They definitely some good eatin. I'm amped to go catch some more this week coming. I used shrimp. I'm going to try a bright plastic to see if I have any luck
Solid bull Red brother. How did you like the radar 135 I’ve been looking at them for a while they seem very stable and good to paddle. I have a wildernesses tarpon 120 I fish out of now
Tons of good options man. I liked this Wilderness Systems Radar a lot. Anything stable with a nice deck layout will work well. Do some research and narrow down some options and I can give my 2 cents.
Absolutely love your videos! You have inspired me so much to pursue kayak fishing thank you for these awesome videos . . . Just wondering if you could give me some tips on a good knife to take on the water with me . I live in central Florida so I’m able to go fresh water and salt water fishing . Thank you again
Another great video! Great attitude and the best camera angles. My only critique would be not even brief mentions of lures and set ups. It looked like lures were edited out of some catch scenes. I realize that could be because of sponsorships etc. Keep up the good work while you are out living the dream!
Thanks man. In the episode before this i went into my bait choices and tactics in depth. I figured that was enough for one series about the same area, so i tried to lighten up on that stuff in this one. Some people like it, some people don’t care. Hard to find a good balance. Helpful feedback though man, I appreciate it. No lures were edited out intentionally, I have zero bait company affiliations. I use what I want!
Quality video's Robert! Keep them coming. A question: Do some fish need to be in the video frame for entire recap of that day's fishing from capture to release? I mean, a big Redfish pulled from the water at 22:08....enters water for revive at 24:06, that is 2 minutes of fish in essence holding there breath/suffocating. At times, it is hard to concentrate on what is being said when distracted by a fish enduring a 2 min. glory shot. End of my soap box.
Naw, I think you're absolutely right, and I've been trying to be better about that. This video is a year old. Very valid point, and I often get carried away feeling the pressure of narrating/hosting the show. I've been more conscious of it the last few months. Solid feedback.
Ahh bummer man. We were there a few weeks ago. Don't think the water could've been 2 feet lower though, 90% of what I fished was less than 2 feet deep... lol
Random question but what watch are you wearing in this video. As much as I nerd out over fishing, I geek out just hard on watches and it’s driving me nuts. It’s a good looking piece
Can you tell me what color it is so I don’t have to go scrub thru to try and find a shot of it? This was almost a year ago. If it’s orange it’s the Casio Pro Trek Smart. If it’s black it’s a Victorinox.
Hey man, I know this was almost a year ago for you, but I live about 25 minutes north of PAC. When you left the Launch, which way did you guys go to get to the grass flats? I usually head out to the left. Also what kind of lure were you using/ Great video! Thanks in advance.
Very different boats man. As for the drive, I think the Hobie may be a little more efficient, but the prop drives are much easier to reverse. It's all personal preference man. Any retailer should offer demos, I'd recommend trying both before buying either.
Dixie Bar in Dauphin Island Alabama has reds that make this one look like a exxxxtra small midget. You should really go to Dauphin Island Alabama and make some videos.. that place has the BESTEST fishing around
Awesome vid!! Can’t wait to get my bonafide down to some saltwater!! What kinda net do you have there ? Looking to get a good net for the kayak . Keep the great vids coming!!
Damn man nice red!!! I love your videos mang. Recent subscriber! Would love to see more videos on what big ling did are going after, only cuz that's what I've been going for lately hahah. But none the less fucking love your videos keep putting them out there brotha . Also I'm trynna get one of these kayaks and then I'll be hitting you up to do some crazy fishing one day bruv haha looks like a blast
Robert Field fishing up here in French Creek BC the salmon is crazy on Vancouver Island especially the coho and you go down to 60 feet and use give skinny g Irish cream is in the cohost go mad it's fun!!
whats up with the water splashing around when putting the drive back in? Is this standard? Cause that would prolly drive me nuts Member of my family helped develop OFF, if you need, i can get u steep discounts. Careful with it around fishing line fyi
I'll be producing a full review once I've got more time on the water with her. I don't think anyone can have truly "final thoughts" after 2 days in any boat in one type of fishery. Taking her bass fishing this week to get a more complete idea of how she handles different types of water. She's solid so far though!
F.Y.I. it's Sheepshead, not Sheephead. Not trying to be the pronunciation police or anything but I saw another video where you said it wrong like 50 x. Love the channel bro just wanted to let you know just in case the people around you are just trying not to be rude
People say it different in different regions. I’ve heard it called both by experienced anglers from Texas to Jersey. More than one way to skin a cat... or... pronounce cat.
Haha agree to disagree. Gators don’t want anything to do with us. I’ve probably seen 50+ gators while kayaking (zero there in Pointe aux Chenes in my 4 Trips there) and never felt even a little uncomfortable. They keep their distance and so do I.
Going thru the comments below.. Pretty awesome how you/Robert take the time respond to compliments. I appreciate that. Keep living the dream brother
It’s the least I can do man, all you guys take the time to watch my vids! I appreciate it
That is a delightful video!! That redfish was huge. What fun. What I liked about your video is how you fished for a long time without catching, happens more than we are told I think, and then you get into them. How often do you have poor to nonexistent catching?? Keep up the great work, Tom Purtzer
Yup that's why we call it fishing and not catching
The quality of your videos far exceeds any other RUclipsr out there! Such a joy to watch!
I would really enjoy it if you would let us know a bit more about the lures and techniques you use when fishing. I’m still pretty new so learning about how you make the decision to switch tackle, when/why you switch, and what you seek out when the bite is bad would be really helpful!
I agree, a tackle video and your reasoning would be awesome.
Yeah, I wouldn't be too thrilled to attempt that trek through the marsh, but that trick about knocking down the grass... great tip.
So much fun man. And yeah, I wasn't thrilled about it, but it worked out alright haha
There’s a riding the bull kayak tournament 2018 in grand isle, Louisiana on August 24-25. You should check it out. Over 700 kayakers have attended the past couple years.
Yep, I’m familiar with it. Every year I have a date conflict, and this year I’ll be in Panama
Oh ok well good luck and be safe
I love when you change something small then your getting hits left and right and you thinking on doing ice fishing any time soon
Yep! Gotta just keep switching it up until you figure out a pattern. Ice fishing... not so sure about that man. I don't do well in the cold. Haha
Awesome! Keep the videos coming, up here in New England waters are freezing over, we need something to help us get through the winter haha. Come up here next year for some striper action!
Thanks Patrick! I'll likely be up that way this summer actually. Where should I go for striper?
Robert Field I'm new to striper fishing, just moved to southern RI. The salt ponds are fun, hoping to get a better kayak next year to hit bigger water. Depending on the time of year you go to try different areas, salt ponds in the spring, the cape cod canal in the summer.
Reds have been nailing gold spoons in PAC over the last week and a half. Just like you I hit a bull right on the head with it. It has to be sheer reaction for bulls to just vacuum anything that lands on top them. So much fun
Yeahhh man! I love PAC. I’ll be back there this weekend. Were you fishin with Rex and Heath?
Nope just my dad haha. If you can find oyster flats like we did you can tear up reds on spoons. They also hit on twitch baits and artificial shad
The artistic shots this episode were great. Loved the intro too, great content, keep em coming!
Thanks Daulton! I try to capture a good blend of the artistic shots and the real, raw GoPro stuff. Too much of either one gets dry in my opinion. Glad you're enjoying it!
Great video Robert, those red fish look like a lot of fun, keep up the grea work!
They're a blast man. Thanks!
Buggs Curl Tail are great in the marsh! Also, I have added an indispensable tool to my kayak, a boat rope. It helps a lot for portaging. Great video!
Yep, I'm very familiar with Buggs. I do have a tow rope that I take with me on certain trips, but I didn't plan on doing any portaging here.
Great video Rob. That trophy gold fish net... So Sweet!
Thanks Charlie! I borrowed that net from Jameson, pretty slick.
How nice is that feeling. Super fish and thanks for a great vid.
So nice. Thanks Steve!
sweet red man!!! I have a tarpon 120 that is deadly in the shallows, went from hobie outback to wilderness systems tarpon 120. wilderness systems makes some very light, fast, stable boats.
Yeah man, Wildy makes quality yaks!
Bro! That Red was sick!! Love hearing all the tips & tricks you learn too. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it Brent, thanks for watching!
Light tackle is the shit. I use a 3000 Daiwa Ballistic LT with a Back Bay 7’6” M Fast Sensitive. Super fun.
Nice man! As I get more experienced as an angler, I find myself trending lighter and lighter. Way more fun.
NICE! Radar looked good out there...so far. 5:00 in.
Worked like a champ man. Super shallow most of the time, but the boat paddles so well it wasn't a problem.
Robert Field agree 100%.
I love to hook up with those reds like the one you caught. We go fishing for reds down in south Texas in the Laguna Madre close to the Intercoastal Canal and sometimes we get lucky and find them and then it is on! Good Luck in the future.
Thanks Guy! I’m from Texas originally, my PB redfish was caught off High Island, 49 inches long
Been thinking of getting into kayak fishing here in the Indian River lagoon, this video had some great tips, thank you
Awesome job Robert! Man we need to get to Louisiana!
Thanks Chris! It's such a rad place to fish. Y'all would love it.
Keep em coming, love the vid's. You will have already worked out, the RADAR needs the flex pod, to stop the gurgle and splash, but you are right, they paddle great - very similar to the Ride to paddle when you don't have the drive in, but with the bonus of being even more stable.

Tough day but things seemed to work out in the end! Great fish man!!!
Yep, that's fishing for ya. It'll try its hardest to discourage you... but if you stick with it, you'll usually be rewarded.
Quality video and great editing.
Congratulations!
Great post
Thanks so much Derin
So welcome! Keep Cranking them out, we'll keep watching.
"LIVE ACTION"👍😳

Crazy how you fought it for only 5 min. I’ve caught a 42 inch bull red off the jetties and I fought that beast for an hour
Well this gal wasn't quite this big, and having a kayak adds the advantage of me being able to pull myself to her instead of the other way around, haha.
Looks like your number of subs is going way up. Well deserved, this has been a great series
Thanks Robert!
The grind paid off. Nice catch!
Yes it did. Thanks Lance!
Where at in south Louisiana ? We were catching these in Holly Beach the other day off the beach bro !
Nice! This was at PAC Kayak Rentals in Montegut
Not sure where that is man, but nice !!!
AWESOME catch! I wish the northeast had some fishing retreats like this.

Robert Field Thanks bro, I will be looking forward to the Review and more of your awesome videos.
Sweet fish Robert, never been down south kayak fishing. Hope to do it some day, looks like a lot of fun :) Be safe Rob.
It's a blast down there man! Add it to the bucket list.
Top-notch episode as always. Keep 'em coming. 👍
Thanks Greg!
Thanks to this video I looked at Google maps and Pointe aux Chenes, LA. and found Eddies kayak rentals at the end of the road at Pointe aux Chenes, LA. Nice dude! Eddie and Lisa are such good people and that place is incredible! I have a feeling you’ll be hooked by the time you leave
I love your vids and I have never fished my whole life keep up the amazing work
Glad you’re enjoying em!
Brother if you fish for reds and start catching them, you may not go home!
sick fish man congrats on it thanks 4 another amazing video its 4am n im watching u to get pumped while eating breakfast b4 i go out for dawn patrol fishing :)
Haha nice dude! Hope ya slayed em

Crazy fish man! Awesome.
Too much fun.
That gar was awesome
Total surprise haha, I think I peed a little.
awesome episode Robert
Thanks Jay!
Man, I love Alaska, but I gotta get down south someday for some solid sight fishing action!
And I'd love to come fish Alaska!
Robert Field come on up. There is an excellent group of kayak anglers that can put you on fish.
a channel like this needs more views and subscribers
Thanks Bruce. I don't worry about the numbers too much. I'll just keep doin' my thing and if people dig the content, the subs and views will come.
Great video and gig 'em!
Thanks and gig 'em Hunter!
Solid bull Red brother. How did you like the radar 135 I’ve been looking at them for a while they seem very stable and good to paddle. I have a wildernesses tarpon 120 I fish out of now
Thanks man. The Radar is solid. I'll be doing a full review on it, look for it in the coming weeks.
Amazing Robert. You should do more in California!!
Golden_State_Fishing Yes! Late spring through summer is awesome.
There's a lot of country out there to fish brother. I'll get back to California, but in the meantime there's a bunch of states I haven't hit yet!
Hey Robert! What’s your favorite kayak to use for inshore reds and bass fishing.
Tons of good options man. I liked this Wilderness Systems Radar a lot. Anything stable with a nice deck layout will work well. Do some research and narrow down some options and I can give my 2 cents.
very nice kayak boat 👍👍
Thanks!
I was there on the 10th. The water was about 2 feet lower and didn't manage to find any fish.
Ahh bummer man. We were there a few weeks ago. Don't think the water could've been 2 feet lower though, 90% of what I fished was less than 2 feet deep... lol
Bro nice Bull! Keep it up man love the videos!
Thanks David!
Thanks for another great ride along. You are the best bro. Over
Thanks Scott!
Nice!!!!! Someday I will make over there to fish
Do it, it's incredible!
Nice video rob, nice fish👊👌
Thanks Ty! She was a beauty
Awesome congrats on you’re bull red man 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Victor!
Yo what up Robert another nice video
Thanks bro!
Love your content man i started kayak fishing bc of u
Glad to hear you're enjoying it man, and that's rad! Good luck out there.
Robert Field had to be the victorinox. Thanks for the reply!
Great video Robert! Thanks for giving me a cameo, lol
Hey man, I know this was almost a year ago for you, but I live about 25 minutes north of PAC. When you left the Launch, which way did you guys go to get to the grass flats? I usually head out to the left. Also what kind of lure were you using/ Great video! Thanks in advance.
The grass was to the left. I caught the over slot to the right. I like the area to the right much better.
Robert Field sweet! Heading out tomorrow gonna give the area to the right a try and see what I can do. Thanks!
How'd the Wilderness 135 compare to your Hobie Outback. Which drive did you prefer?
Very different boats man. As for the drive, I think the Hobie may be a little more efficient, but the prop drives are much easier to reverse. It's all personal preference man. Any retailer should offer demos, I'd recommend trying both before buying either.
What are your opinions on the feelfree kayaks?
They make quality boats. I’ve been in a couple but never owned one.
wow very nice!
Thanks Randy!
Dixie Bar in Dauphin Island Alabama has reds that make this one look like a exxxxtra small midget. You should really go to Dauphin Island Alabama and make some videos.. that place has the BESTEST fishing around
What was the net that you were using?
Company is called Rising
Awesome vid!! Can’t wait to get my bonafide down to some saltwater!! What kinda net do you have there ? Looking to get a good net for the kayak . Keep the great vids coming!!
It’s a Rising Net. Really nice
Robert Field awesome!! Thank you sir!
What kind of lure was the you caught that bull red at the end? Like your videos keep them coming.
Chickenboy Twin Tail Grub. Small company out of Texas
Do you shoot with three cameras on the boat? Someone in another boat with a camera?
I have five GoPros and use them in different ways. Sometimes I have friends nearby with a camera.
Oh someone have open container in his kayak! 😂😂
Anyone know that net he is using???
RedFish are beautiful.
Yeah they really are.
Nice Red mate. You should catch up with Drew and Cora from Texas Redfish Hunter for a colab
Thanks man! That'd be a blast.
I’ve been binge watching you for a couple days now, so cool!! You should collab with Jon B!
Nice 👍🏻
Thanks!
Where are u come back
I’ll be back.
You should go salmon fishing on Vancouver Island
I’ve still never caught a salmon. Definitely hoping to change that in 2018
Robert Field fishing up here in French Creek BC the salmon is crazy on Vancouver Island especially the coho and you go down to 60 feet and use give skinny g Irish cream is in the cohost go mad it's fun!!
What lure did you use to catch that redfish
Chickenboy Twin Tail Grub on a 1/4 oz jighead
whats up with the water splashing around when putting the drive back in? Is this standard? Cause that would prolly drive me nuts
Member of my family helped develop OFF, if you need, i can get u steep discounts. Careful with it around fishing line fyi
Yeah it happens
what was the songs you use in this video
I honestly don't remember the names, but you can use the Shazaam app to find out what any song is, anywhere.
ok thanks man tip
Sounds like an exercise machine on a kayak. What cam are you using facing you and audio?
Congratulations on going to 80K subs. Trophy red.
That’s a GoPro Hero 5 facing me, audio is from the Hero 5 on my head. And thanks man!
Thanks. I just noticed. No water proof case to muffle the sound.
Love ur vids, do u think u will ever go after some triple tails
Final thoughts on that yak?
I'll be producing a full review once I've got more time on the water with her. I don't think anyone can have truly "final thoughts" after 2 days in any boat in one type of fishery. Taking her bass fishing this week to get a more complete idea of how she handles different types of water. She's solid so far though!
Definitely respect your opinion when it comes to yaks. Will be looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Looks like a real “tough” day of fishing... as you constantly catch fish and meanwhile your landing a trophy bull red.
It was a grind over 12 hours.
Hey has to beat any day in the office :)
Content & narratives great I love it
Nice video 🙏👍👍
Thanks Carlos!
Nice vid man!!!! I know exactly what lure ur using haha
Thanks bro! Got the big one on a Chickenboy Twin Tail grub, pink with chart tail on a red Bomber jighead.
That's exactly what I use
Redfish are the best fish in the world!
Definitely one of my favorite species.
Never caught a redfish but I've caught30 pound spring salmons
Been to PAC many times. You should have had Eddie put you on the Mothership to the good spots.
We did. Watch the video right before this one.
Nice
Thanks Marcos

Thanks for being one of em!
That was a BULL RED!
Bigin
Yep!
What???? You let the bull red go??????
Yes. We had plenty of redfish back at camp and the big ones don’t taste as good in my opinion.
Can you eat redfish?
Lunchbox596 heck yeah!!! They're delicious blackened!
Oh yeah, redfish on the half shell 😍
My one of my favorite fish to eat. Most of our restaurants in South Louisiana sell redfish.
Absiolutely. They're one of my favorite eating fish. There's a slot limit though, so this gal was too big to keep.

hi i like your vids
Hi I like that you like my vids! Thanks for watching Dixie
F.Y.I. it's Sheepshead, not Sheephead.
Great video bro!!!! did you get my email?
Yep yep, sorry man been swamped, will get back to ya soon.
Robert Field sweet bro!
Going across the marsh like that is a great way to become gator lunch! NOT something you should be doing.
Haha agree to disagree. Gators don’t want anything to do with us. I’ve probably seen 50+ gators while kayaking (zero there in Pointe aux Chenes in my 4 Trips there) and never felt even a little uncomfortable. They keep their distance and so do I.
I was referring to when you hit a dead end and rather than go all the way back around to catch up with others you pulled across the marsh on foot.
