They were the last generation to chase the white picket fence Dream and procreate. Younger generations are marrying at an average age of 35 or older. Most American kids are reproducing slower. So once the baby boomers die off, our population will actually be less. The only groups that are still procreating at high rates are minorities and third world countries. Since we let an average of 1,000,000 immigrants a year into America, the population will probably still rise, but the balance will be offset over time. Furthermore, even if it were true, he doesn't get to hold the scales and determine who lives and dies. Did you know the entire world population right now could fit inside the state of North Dakota? "This is very tough" - My dad told me how he was fishing and had to hide in a waste pipe when the bomb alarm went off. When he came back out, he found body parts of people all around and decided to stutter for the next ten years. They had to eat moulded bread and potato peels. There are family stories told about life and death in the trenches of the last two world wars. Today we see children dying in cages, people being snatched and tortured, both innocents and guilty who do not appreciate the tropical climate in Kuba. What we are experiencing is in itself scary and it's surprising that we have to change our routine. But seriously, we should stop the whining. Our generation has seen nothing and what we call suffering and anxiety would be a joke for our ancestors and is a joke for people who are now living in the war zones we are creating for them today to do our business.
I deeply appreciate the work of Bill Gates. But I really would like to hear someone to speak up about what live is like in this world for most people living in it and how ridiculously easy life is for the majority of us Americans, Europeans and otherwise hyper privileged whiners.
All we have to do is to act responsibly and reasonably for some time, accept that we need to reduce our expectations and we are almost certain that we will get over this episode rather well. That's much more than most people in the world can hope for. For most of them, Covid-19 ist just another opportunity to suffer or die and this opportunity is followed up with the catastrophes they faced before and will face after the virus.
Lookup photos of German concentration camps or German cities after WW2 to see what "crippling anxiety" means. Imagine yourself in one of the trenches of WW1 or just imagine how collateral damage feels about dragging the corpses of their family out of the ruins left by drone strikes. Imagine how these people feel about how their daily routine changed and how dramatic it is what you experience right now.
You can only go out to buy food stuff and medicine. That means you get to eat. You're privileged, you're not going through tough times. You lost your job. You had one in first place and you're likely to get it back.
Some of us will die from Covid-19 and suffer before we do. Some might have to make tough decisions like who will get treatment and who won't. Some of us will loose loved ones. These are the ones for whom times are tough, these have the right to whine. The rest of us should stay home and stop whining. And while we spend the time contemplating the lack of entertainment, we might want to readjust our sense of normality and appreciate what some people have to go through to be called economic immigrants.
How cute but ignorant. Those people know where the fight is, some of them chose the battlefield. You can't choose to get sick or not. You don't know where the virus is. You can't see the virus. The only thing I can agree on is definitely the stress and difficulty of a war.

You sound like a veteran. Please consider that warfare that you experience as an American is very different from what our grandparents experienced. You are today a valued service member, they were expendable canon fodder. You wars are abroad, their war was everywhere. Your family is safe, theirs died while they were fighting. The stress and difficulty of war is very local for a US soldier and specific for the job. You can go back to something, you can hope.

All I said and all I mean is that while the virus is dangerous and while it's impact is annoying, this crisis is nothing to whine about if you compare it with what other generations experienced. What you perceive as righteous Americans where European invaders who stole the land from the natives. They came to America either to steal resources (the nobility) or to have a chance to make a better living because they were starving in Europe (the peasants). When you were done with the genocide in your new home land, you caught slaves in Africa and exploited them in a rather distasteful way. Up until today these people are second class citizens (that's why they have remind you every now and then that their lives matter).
Your record in WW2 is much less heroic than you might think. A sizeable portion of Americans sympathised with Nazi Germany (and they still do in noticeable numbers). The US rejected ships full of jewish asylum seekers then. You supported England by providing material, but you did not enter the war until you have been directly attacked by Japan. You did not fight for a righteous cause, you defended yourself.
All the wars you fought since then, you fought for your economic or strategical reasons, none of them were motivated by morals. In most of these wars you committed quite ugly atrocities. The enemies the USA has today are home made. Iran hates you because you removed their democracy and replaced it with a dictator who eventually was removed by them. North Korea is a consequence of the war you fought on their soil. The Arab world's animosity is a consequence of your petrol gathering policies and the unconditional support for Israel's policy of depopulating Palestine. The list goes on. You are not investing in the world, you are the leeches extracting resources and imposing crippling pain.
Remember that you are the invaders? The guys entering the US on the Mexican border are not invaders. They are not spaniards steeling your gold or Brits, Germans, Irishmen sending you to reservations. They are coming to clean your home. You had a referendum to determine which language you would speak. If your demography would have been slightly different you might well have ended up speaking German today. Countries like Switzerland prove that it's not only possible but not at all detrimental to have more than one official language. They have four (German, French, Italian and Romansk). You believe that your culture would not survive the impact of a minority speaking something you don't understand because you can't be bothered to learn a single foreign language and make it your own? Maybe your culture needs an upgrade?
Overall I doubt very much that the impact of the USA on the world is a net positive one. That's why I am not worried about the next election that will either grant Trump another term or see a senile conservative like Biden as next president. The impact of the USA on the world will be greatly reduced and this might give the world room to take a breath.
